Janet carefully set a purple bag of ancient runes on each of the desks spread around her classroom. She enjoyed the few minutes of quiet before the start of class as the room almost buzzed with anticipation, as if the walls were discussing what might happen during the hour. She smirked a bit as she looked around her pristine classroom, taking pleasure in the fact that she was much more organized than her peers. She knew many first year teachers that ended up with overflowing shelves and stray parchment scattered around their classrooms by the end of the year. But not her, of course. She wasn't organized in a compulsive manner, but Janet did know that her tasks took less long to complete if all her things were in order. Thus, her classroom reflected this as all of the purple bags were arranged at the exact same place on each desk, with each desk lined up behind the other in a precise manner.
She took out her wand and wrote "Professor Choi" in the air above the desk where she was sitting, and underneath it the runic translation. She had a stack of translations for the older students near her desk, glaring at the papers for a moment as she remembered that all levels were being taught together because of the small enrollment that year. Janet thought this would interfere and be the most disadvantageous to the older NEWT students, who truly needed her undivided attention if they were ever going to pass the exams in the spring. Clearing her throat and relaxing in her chair, she waited for the first students to arrive as she busied herself by re-checking the translations she had worked on earlier that day.

Ariana walked to Ancient Runes as she hopped she wasn't late again. She had been late to most of her class for the day and she hadn't even had lunch yet. Ariana shook her head as she sighed just as she made it to the door to the class room. She looked around and saw that she was the first one there other then the teacher. "Hello Professor Choi" said Ariana after reading the bored and walking in. She took a sit near the front as she didn't know much about magical world or Ancient Runes either. "Um Professor Choi, I was wandering that if after class I don't understand something could you maybe help me or maybe give me an extra class so that I may ketch up with everyone who's in 7th year?" asked Ariana looking at the floor before her.

Time for class. Zee was curious to see how having a class would differ from studying alone in his room. He wasn't exactly excited. Actually cynical was a much better description of his attitude. He suspected he would simply be held back by the other students and the teacher wanting to stick to their curriculum. Indeed, he was no less arrogant about the superiority of his mind than that of his looks and his charm. But he was open to the possibility, however scant, that he could actually learn something. Something having to do with the subject of ancient runes that is. He had no doubt he'd learn a great deal about the people in class, student and professor alike.
Zee was not the first student into the room, which irked him slightly as he'd wanted to be. By design he'd wanted to get in and have a brief word with the professor before any other students arrived. Someone had beaten him to it though, a girl he hadn't met.
He breezed into the room as if he'd walked through that door countless times before, his eyes going straight for the grown woman seated behind her desk and seeming to not notice the other student or the supreme organization of the room. In fact he did note this and appreciated it. This woman it seemed, had things together, and she already had earned a little respect out of him. True respect that is. He would of course act as though he had the utmost respect for her, whatever he thought. The other student he would wait and observe before making any introduction or assumption.
Striding right up to Janet's desk, he leaned right through the luminous writing hovering there and extended his hand, a warm smile upon his face.
"Professor Choi? Zane Lucifer Bishop Ma'am. Just recently transferred in and enthusiastically looking forward to your class. Pleasure to meet you Professor. Did you have any preferences for where students sit? I'm a 6th year Slytherin if that matters."

Janet did not look up from her translations as the students approached. Couldn't they see she was working? Clenching her jaw for a moment before finally turning her attention to them, she thought about saying to them that questions of any kind were for after class. However...it was her first year, so she would need to appease the students more than she might want to now. She looked at the young girl she knew to be Ariana from her files; a girl with very little schooling that for some absurd reason had been placed in the seventh year...no doubt she would have to repeat it several times before passing her NEWT exams.
"My dear there is absolutely no way for you to complete or even attempt the curriculum I've set for my NEWT students. I suggest taking my first or second year homeworks and tests for the time being," she said crisply before turning to Zee, and giving him a slight glare for interrupting the fine lettering the had placed above her desk. She took out her wand to correct it silently before answering him.
"You may sit wherever you like Mister Bishop. It is always good to meet an enthusiastic student," she said, then returned to her work, hoping that no other students would try and interrupt her before class.

Ariana pulled paper and quill out of her bag before setting them down. Ariana sighed before smiling a bit before frowning once again. This Professor was the only one who seemed to know that she didn't have the school like everyone else did. This made her happy as she would know learn with a teacher instead of just on her own. Ariana dipped her quill in the black inc before writing her name down on her paper. She set her quill down and looked at the other Slytherin before saying, "Hi, I'm Ariana Angevin." She smiled a bit before letting it fall back to a frown.

Zee retracted his unaccepted hand without losing his smile. He leaned low over the desk as he took a step back, avoiding disturbing the letters a second time. As he turned his back, his smile faded into a slight scowl. He may have not lost respect for the woman for being as guarded as she seemed to be, indeed it may have increased, but still, he didn't appreciate the seeming disinterest. Oh how he preferred women his own age. They were so much easier to manage. And speaking of which . . .
"Ariana? Lovely name. Call me Zee. Your first year here too huh? Seems neither of us is acclimated to the accepted methods of greeting teachers. Shame that."
He smiles at her and slid into a seat in the front row near hers. He'd spoken loudly enough for the professor to hear but didn't particularly care if she did. She seemed sufficiently entranced by her own study to miss anything not thrust in front of her eyes. Zee sighed. He had lied quite blatantly in his description of his feelings for the class. He was not looking forward to this and expected a rather boring next couple hours.

"Thank you, Nice to meet you as well Zee. Yes this is my first year here. Where are you from?" Asked Ariana smiling a bit at him. Ariana didn't have many friends but it alway had been this way even when she was little. "I'm from the USA and haven't been in London very long as I'm a run away. Its lovely really that I was found by my uncial Akira" said Ariana as her smile turned into a sly smirk. She didn't really open up like this but she didn't see any harm. Ariana looked at her paper before reaching into her bag for something. She didn't find it though which pi**ed her off though it didn't show.

He had been up in his common room getting things together for his Ancient runes class, filling his bag with his books, wand, and plenty of parchment, quills, and ink. He swung his bag over his shoulder and straightened his robes out and headed for the door. Glancing over his shoulder at the small fire he had started in the fire place, he narrowed his eyes at it and blew out a small puff of air. The fire flickered intensely and dispersed into nothing but burning embers.
He had been practicing small things like lighting candles and controling the flame and making the fire burn out by sheer will. Now he had moved onto lighting the fire in the fireplace, but always careful to make sure it was a small fire. He practiced dousing these fires as he saw that it would be better to have a good handle on making fires go away, if one got out of hand.
He smiled to himself as he was definitely making progress with his fire mastery and made his way down the stairs of Ravenclaw Tower. Once he got to the fourth floor, he walked briskly down the corridor, reaching the doorway to Ancient Runes.
This could definitely help with divinations... He thought as he remembered his divining stones engraved with ancient runic symbols.
He pushed the door open and stepped into the classroom, seeing Zee and Ariana sitting in there already, with Professor Janet Choi at the head of the class. He made a slight frown that could be interpreted as him chewing his cheek.
"Hello, Professor Choi." He greeted her politely as he took a seat in the first row. "Zee, Ariana..." He nodded to the Slytherins as he set down his bag and removed his Runes book, opening it to the middle, preparing to read up on other magical alphabets, such as Theban, Malachim, and Phoenician.

Pushing her merry way through the door leading to the Ancient Runes classroom, Alexis looked distinctly happy to be amongst the various symbols and lines scattered along the stone walls. Clutching her book bag tightly to her chest, she cast her eyes quickly around the room in search of a reasonable seating area. Feeling quite downcast upon the realisation that she wasn’t on friendly terms with any of them, she began to inspect each of the four inhabitants more closely.
The two donning Slytherin robes had bunched together: one she recognised as Zee, the slightly arrogant yet reasonably friendly boy from that day at the lake: the other being a girl whom she had never seen nor met. A Ravenclaw had appropriately seated himself in the frontmost row. He seemed vaguely familiar, and Ally guessed this was only a result of the common housing shared between the two.
Behind a wooden desk and beneath magically imprinted words declaring her to be ‘Professor Choi’, the teacher sat with a slight scowl on her face. Alexis had entered the classroom with the intention of giving the professor a friendly and talkative greeting; she recoiled from this idea, as something about Choi’s rigid stature seemed to scream “back off!”
Compensating for her lack of salutations, Ally gave Choi an uncertain smile as she wandered to the empty bench second from the front, positioning herself behind the only other Ravenclaw. She gave a whispered “hi” to no one in particular as she began to set up her quills and subject books.

With all of her things in tow, Susan bustled into the Ancient Runes class. She was afraid of being late. She hadn't heard much about the new teacher, and wasn't sure what her policy on tardiness was. To be safe, Susan a strove to be on time on this day. Susan looked around the class for a moment. She certainly wasn't the first student to arrive. It was also a relief to find out that she was not late. Susan let out a small breath as she began to recognize the students in the classroom.
Feeling that she might need to be extra friendly to her Ravenclaw friends, Susan worked her way to the the front of the class Alessandro and Ally. Ravenclaws were naturally good at everything, they would certainly prove good study partners if Susan was struggling. Susan chose a seat next to Ally.
"Hey guys," she said generally. She didn't want to leave out Ariana or the other Slytherin, but she was mainly directing her salutation to the Ravenclaws.
"Good morning, Professor Choi!" Susan said brightly before gathering her things for class to begin.

Jacques stuffed his books into a rough, torn, and beat up bag. Parchment, ink and quills soon fallowed, until it was bursting at the seams. Looking at the sun, he cursed under his breath, knowing that if he didn't hurry, he'd be late. He raced down the hall, his long legs carrying him their in under 8 minutes. He wasn't panting, but his heart sped up a little.
Pausing at the door, her surveyed the room, checking how many students were their. He reconived three of the people, and if a flicker in his golden eyes, he reconived two from the forbidden forest. Zee, and Alessandro. Susan was also in the room, and he gave her a small smile. He nodded to Alessandro and Zee, and then glanced curiously at the others. Swinging his bag over a bench near Susan and Alessandro, he glanced around the room until he picked out the teacher.
Professor Choi. Her name was written on the board, by magic, he guessed. She seemed a little, uptight, though not for certain. He leaned back, flipping open his book and looking intently out the window, at the forest. He enjoyed learning knew langueges, it was challenging, and this seemed like a good one. Maybe it'll have some African runes.. He thought, doodling on the book. He hadn't had much schooling, probably less then most of them, but he could learn.

D’rorah made her way to the front of the classroom, nodding politely to her classmates as she passed. Without any verbal preamble, she took a seat in the front row, apart from the others, and began setting out her notebooks in preparation for class. She knew that she had yet to be confronted by Professor Choi for the late return after she and Dylan had gone to Alconbury for his foster father’s funeral and expected that a confrontation about that very matter would probably take place after class. Of course, they had the perfectly acceptable excuse of Dylan’s extensive injuries after the attack from his foster brother, accompanied by the notes of a man who was both a healer and a muggle doctor. Quietly, she resigned herself to whatever resolution the Professor might devise for that particular matter.
After her notebooks were set out, she bowed her head over them and began writing away furiously. Every moment in her day was full… she didn’t have time to sit about idly, even for a few moments these days.

Kerridon walked at a steady pace down the fourth floor corridor to the room where he had signed up for Ancient Runes. Hopefully, despite never having worked on Runes before, his language skills should come in useful for this class. When he had heard there was a class for learning an ancient language, he had signed up straight away. It was one of the only hobbies he had that hadn't been disapproved of by one of his parents or the Shadow Mage.
As he entered the class his eyes darted around, seeing if he knew anyone. He recognised a few faces just from walking around the school, but the only person he'd talked to was the girl sitting alone at the front of the class, who'd worked at Ollivanders. Without saying a word, he went to sit next to her, nodding a simple greeting before getting out his books and the like. Apparently neither of them liked much small talk.

Mildly disinterested, Zee nodded along as Ariana spoke. His mood was suffering from his lack of optimism concerning the class, though it was slightly helped as other students filtered in. He recognized the first of the Ravenclaws, though he had expected somewhat more of a greeting after their encounter in the forbidden forest. Perhaps it wasn't so irregular an event for the younger boy. He nodded in return, still looking bored.
The next entrant was also a known Ravenclaw. He was a little curious to see what amusing questions she would have today, but merely smiled at her, not betraying the thought. The girl who followed her in he did not recognize, and a slight shake of the head was all the outward reaction to her greeting of the Ravenclaws.
Must be a Gryffindor to manage to ignore the Slytherin's just enough to not be blatantly rude. Pathetic.
At that point Zee lost interest in noting who was entering. He closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, waiting for the suspected droning lecture to start. He muttered a brief answer to Ariana so as not to seem too unfriendly.
"Oh, I've always lived in London."

Optimistic hadn't ever really described Jason very well, but he was feeling so today. He'd met a decent number of students and with a new class starting (to which he was conveniently not running to praying he wouldn't be too late) he was hopeful that those he knew might introduce him to more. Peeking around the door to make sure he wasn't the first student there, he smiled slightly. He wanted to make sure to sit by someone he knew, and so he had to be sure someone he knew was seated.
The class had many students already settled, but he only recognized the back of one head. Alessandro's, and he was already quite surrounded. A girl Jason didn't know was already sitting directly behind his friend, and the front row in which he sat was also occupied by two other boys and one girl. Jason began to panic.
It'll be too crowded if I just go and sit next to him. And people might think I'm weird if I walk all the way up to the front to sit down and not talk to all the people around me. I dunno, they might not care, but . . . No, it's too risky.
A quiet sigh escaped Jason as he plopped into a seat in the back row inconspicuously. His optimism had drained away before anyone had even looked at him. His forehead came to rest on the desk as he sighed again.
Way to stick to the plan.
