D'rorah nodded as he responded, his emotions remaining in control this time. Her eyes followed his gaze to the moon. "One day soon we will find ourselves at a resolution... I can only pray that it is the resolution we wish for," she remarked quietly.
She took a deep breath and settled back into the window. "You know, I have never before been to the owlery," she remarked quietly. "It is rather peaceful... and it seems much less likely that others would seek out refuge here. I suppose it would make as good a place as any for continued practice." She pulled her knees to her chin and wrapped her arms around them, to ward off the cold. "When would you like to practice again?" she asked, her chin resting on her arm in a rare display of anything other than the most proper and erect posture. "Perhaps the night is an apt time, considering that we might have some privacy. We will continue to hone your occlumency and begin working on more precise legilimency..." she trailed off, as though thinking to herself.

His head still held in his upward glance toward the moon, he let his eyes drift over to Dee as she sat on the windowsill. Her quiet remark seemed to have been the answer to his own inner questions. He wondered if she had just read his mind, but then shrugged it off as he didn't care anymore. Anything he thought could be shared with a member of his team, especially if it meant the amelioration of his skills as an Elemental Master.
He turned his head toward D'rorah as she spoke freely about the ambiance of the owlery. "It is rather peaceful..." He agreed after her comment. "Lets practice again soon, next time, whenever's convenient for you..." He said sheepishly as he eyed his broom leaning against the wall. Had he really jumped out of his dorm window to fly over to the girls window to get D'rorah's attention in the dead of night? So it seems, but he was desperate.
He noticed she had trailed off after talking about honing his occlumency, and working on more precise legilimency. "What's on your mind?" He had asked as he smirked to himself at the irony of his question. Precise? Did I use legilimency...on her? he thought as he waited for her reply.

D'rorah sighed. "A great many things are on my mind," Alessandro. "I would not even know where to begin in relaying them to you." She settled back against the frame of the window. "The night seems so peaceful, yet hides such malevolence. No one knows whom they might trust or what course of action is safe. I suppose it is always so in a war." She nodded her head. "Yes, a war... it has finally come to that. We are part in a balance which has been shifting for millenia. Actually, the present Mage has killed the past several generations of Shadow Warriors and Elemental Masters... many of them did not even find their counterparts. The fact that we are all here, that we are all together, is a very good sign. Now we simply have to discern a method of acting as a cohesive team."
She looked over at him, considering the young man beside her for a moment. "Is there any mentallist talent in your family? You were able to repel me far more quickly than I had anticipated... and to turn my attack back upon me," she added, a hint of admiration in her voice. "When I first began to learn, it took me far longer to develop those skills." Of course, she had been five years old at the time, but he had still learned very quickly. "With regular practice, you could be a remarkable occlumens. And you have already shown the ability for spontaneous legilimency."

He leaned against the wall nearest to him as he observed D'rorah like a bird on her perch. She began to tell him that he couldn't begin to fathom the great many things on her mind. He let it be and figured that he ought not question her as she had done him a favor tonight. His hopes of success in their endeavor went almost crashing down to the ground floor as she had mentioned that the Shadow Mage, the current, had killed off several generations of Masters and Warriors. However his hopes elevated back to normal after telling him that they were all here together in Hogwarts, which was a good sign. His mind wandered to the Elemental Masters which had left Hogwarts.
His face lowered to the floor with a furrowed brow as he began to think. We're down two elements...what happens when the masters become unsuitable to carry their gifts? He thought thinking of Spade. Where has professor Kade gone... this was the most frustrating thought of all, for some reason. He knew that Mordred was Dee's elemental master and couldn't help but notice that his absence had impacted her lately. He frowned at this as she had made it clear that she needed to be strong. He wished that he could be her rock, but that was not his place.
Her voice broke his thoughts again as he turned his gaze upward and met her icy eyes. She had asked him about any mentalist talent in the family, praising him that he had done a nice job pushing her mental advances back. He raised his eyebrows as she mentioned he may have a talent for spontaneous legilimency.
"I am left in the dark about family heritage except for my ethnicity. Me mum's family is about the only family I have interaction with. She comes from a long line of witches and wizards....but me da's side..." He stopped fo a moment. He really missed his father so much at the moment. The only thing he left him to remember him by was the single Italian Horn that he religiously wore around his neck beneath his uniform.
"He said he was called a warlock....he came from Italy, and never spoke of his magical education..." He said. "I don't know anything really about my father's side...." He finished, letting his hand fumble over the stone wall, guiding it along the crevasses.

D'rorah noted the furrowing of Alessandro's brow, but as he did not express any concern, she assumed he was merely thinking over the things she had told him. She listened intently as he relayed information about his parents. She noted the pause as he came to speaking of his dad's part of the family. She wondered whether his father was still alive, but assumed that he was not, given the way he spoke of that side of the family.
"Well, family heritage has little to do with it anyway, I suppose. Telepathy is known to be passed along generations and is typically very rare, even among the wizarding world. Mine comes from my mother's side of the family," she remarked off-hand. She shivered a bit as a particularly chill breeze passed through the window. Even in her full dress, the night was a bit cold. The seasons were truly giving way to one another.
"What are your plans during the break? I intend to seek out Mordred." She closed her eyes and shook her head slightly. She had originally intended to spend the holidays with Dylan and his mother... but considering that the woman obviously couldn't stand her, she had rethought that decision. "I only wish I had some idea of where to begin." She turned her face to look at Alessandro. "Enjoy this winter. It may well be the last holiday season before we become truly embroiled in the conflict with the Shadow Mage."

He sighed as she had brought up the holliday season. Things just weren't the same. He had been used to Hewlett, but he was definitley not the man his father was. His inexplicable disappearance while they lived in America was a very trying time for he and his mother. It had been six years since then and each holliday, each birthday in succession had been somewhat empty. Hewlett had pulled a complete 180 on him after he married his mother. His disposition toward Alessandro was enforced by his hard and unyielding exterior. He didn't know if Hewlett was trying to help him, or kill him.
He frowned at the thought of returning home to London for the hollidays and wondered if he could get his mother to let him spend vacation at school. "I'll probably end up going home..." He said sighing. "Although I'd much rather stay here...or help you search for Professor Kade." he said as he thought.
"I'm eager to learn anything I can that will aid us our delayed defeat of the shadow mage. You mentioned swords before...I would like to learn whenever you have time." He said feeling the fire in his heart begin to grow.

"If you were older, I would offer to take you with me. As it is, I do not believe it would be a good idea to take an underage wizard along on whatever travels I may embark on over the winter. We should all remain in constant contact over the holidays... those who do not remain here will need some manner to contact the rest of us with." She thought for a moments and her ears perked up again as he mentioned swords.
"Well, learning to wield a weapon is certainly a good idea," she replied. "I can teach you swordplay... I have been teaching the others hand combat. You should certainly learn that as well. I would like to organize training sessions with everyone, but it is difficult with our full schedules. "You and Mister Cooper could train together... you are of the same age, so it may work out well." A brief smile flickered across her face, disappearing almost as quickly as it came. "And if you have free time, he is learning languages to assist with my translations. Any assistance you are able to provide to either one of us would be most appreciated. More and more books arrive, but there never seem to be any more hours in the day with which to translate them."

He leaned against the wall and took in everything D'rorah had said about not being able to take him with her. He scowled at the fact that he was younger, as, he kept on forgetting that the world had boundless age restrictions. 1) you cannot apparate until your 7th year. 2) you cannot go to hogsmeade without written parental consent 3) you cannot perform magic while away on holliday. He silently cursed these restrictions as he felt he was responsible enough for anything and everything.
He was eager to learn swordplay and it appeared as though she was delighted that he had expressed a desire to learn. That made him happier, to see that D'rorah smiled, even for a split second. "Yes, I agree, Dylan and I get on well. It's funny up until a few weeks ago, I barely knew he was my dorm mate." He laughed a bit and then progressed onward with answering her second question.
"Yes I do think it's the least I can do for you, Dee, as you've done so much for me already." His tone was dead serious. "I wan't you to know that I really appreciate you not giving up on me." He swept the hair out of his face before continuing. "I shall translate any and all texts you give to me, no matter how long it takes." He smiled wide and flashed her a bit of his teeth. One could tell that his mummy afforded proper dentistry, that or Hewlett's money allowed her to.

"Yes I remember him mentioning something similar," she remarked. "I suppose we really do have a group of people who tend to keep to themselves." She laughed slightly. "Odd, I would have never believed that, among I group of people, I would be the uniting social factor."
D'rorah nodded, finding his smile particularly fetching. "I appreciate your help, Mister Darko," she replied sincerely. She kept going back and forth between her formal manner of address and a more personable one. It was taking time to acclimate herself to having friends... at least, she assumed that's what these people were. Never really having had any before, she wasn't entirely certain. "There are a great many languages available, so I am certain we can find one with which you are already somewhat familiar."
She looked outside at the night sky and inhaled deeply. "I suppose at some point we should consider returning to our beds. Who knows, I may even decide to actually sleep tonight," she remarked with a hint of laughter in her voice. She had spent more and more of her nights awake with research lately, avoiding the nightmares had had slowly crept back into her sleep since Mordred's departure. No amount of mental discipline and exercises had been able to push them back completely. Certainly, she had tempered their effects, but was still plagued. "I do hope I hear from Professor Kade soon," she remarked. Though the statements sounded unrelated, her mind had gone from sleeplessness right to the source without much thought.

He nodded. "Yes, it is getting late..." He replied as he felt the toll of refusing to sleep kick in. It was so nice to be able to sleep again without feeling that accompanied feeling of dread and those horrible nightmares. The ones he had now were most likely the result of normal brain activity, not dark magic. He was sure to be able to sleep again with his occlumency training. He threw his arms in the air as high as he could, and bent himself backwards, having his fingertips scrape at the wall. He let out a long and drawn out yawn, relaxing his throat and tongue at the same time, resulting in a sound similar to that of a wookie. He resumed normal posture and made his way over to his broom.
Mounting it, he rose up to the window where Dee was sitting. He reached out and touched her arm. "Don't worry, Dee, if anyone can find him, or reach him....it would be you." He said assuringly. He looked out at the night sky and prayed that it wouldn't be too late for at least six hours worth of sleep. He had planned to get in a lot of studying tomorrow, crammed in before classes. There was his Transfiguration essay, needless to say, he was falling behind in Potions, and Herbology he had prepared nothing for the next class.
"Well, I guess I'm off....and thank you again, Dee...I think I shall sleep a bit easier tonight." he smiled and made his way through the window. He dipped down a bit, but brought the nose of the broom back up and soon he was soaring straight for Ravenclaw tower. Hugging the walls again as he swept around the tower, he found his window and slowed down as he prepared to make his entrance.
He carefully guided himself and his broom through the window, and lowered himself to the ground. He gently slid his broom under his bed and returned to the window. He gripped it before looking at the moon peacefully, letting the pure light wash over him. He sighed and internally thanked the powers that be for granting him a reprieve. He shut the window and went to bed.

D'rorah looked up, her arm flinching away a bit as a light touch was laid upon it. She smiled softly at Alessandro's reassuring words. "Thank you Alessandro," she replied quietly. "I hope I will be successful."
As he took his leave, she nodded. "You are quite welcome. And pleasant dreams, Mister Darko." She watched as he flew from the window. She remained in her seat, unmoving, for several minutes. Briefly, she considered the idea of sleep, weighing it against the possibility of staying up and accomplishing more research. She well knew how nightmares negatively impacted one's ability to sleep well at night. Indeed, she experienced much the same problem herself night after night. Finally, deciding that even a tortured sleep would be better than none at all, she stood in the window and jumped, transfiguring to her animagus form as she did. She stretched her wings, allowing them to glide on the air, hardly needing any effort to guide her down the few stories to the level of her dormitory.
She crept in through the window quietly, finally putting away her books and materials before slipping underneath her duvet. Taking a deep breath, her eyes slipped shut and she willed herself to sleep.
