With nothing in particular to do on this cold afternoon, Susan had nestled in the corner of one of the front window sills of the foyer. Not caring to go back up all of those stairs to her Common Room and Dormitory, Susan had ventured in the opposite direction. She leaned with her back against the thick stone wall separating the cold and very forbidden at this hour, outdoors and the warmth and redundant interior. Susan sat back and admired the view.
Her limbs and joints were sore from training she'd been involved in earlier in the week and today she enjoyed her day off to recover. She saw the leaves on the trees outside rustle in the wind and was thankful for the invisible charm keeping the open window from letting the outside air indoors.
The new cold weather was one of the things about fall that Susan did not admire. The cold was one of the few things that hindered her various trips to the outdoors. "That and the ban," Susan whispered to herself. Though she was grateful for the time they got before curfew, it was never enough. Greedy as she knew she was, she couldn't help but hope for more freedoms. Especially as a Shadow Warrior, she should especially appreciate the ban, knowing what it was protecting the students from. Even with all things considered, Susan admired the changing leaves from inside, wishing she could go out and see them first hand. Tomorrow, she thought as she turned to leave her post at the window.

Caity rushed into the Hogwarts foyer from outside, wishing she had noticed the time before the outdoor curfew started. A teacher - she wasn't sure which one, not having had all of them yet - had noticed her wandering the grounds at five minutes past four. Luckily, she'd managed to avoid detention but had received a good telling off and been sent inside.
To be honest, she was quite glad to be in the warmth again, and had been heading back in when the teacher had found her anyway. Yet again, she had left her coat in her dormitory at the start of the day, and had not thought to return for it. She really should learn to remember that British autumn was very different and very much colder to Indian autumn.
In her haste to get out of the cold and away from the angry teacher, Caitlin ran into a girl turning away from the window, knocking them both to the floor.
"Oh! Sorry!" she called, sitting up to apologise to the younger girl. "Are you okay?"

Hidden from sight amongst scattered piles of books and papers, seated comfortably in a corner of the foyer, was Alexis. Nestled in her lap was a bulky hardback, with “The Venomous Tentacular and You!” scrawled over the cover. It was this book which Ally was now immersed in, her blue eyes scanning quickly over the pages and her thinly-rimmed glasses slipping halfway down her small nose.
‘…lives off a diet consisting…stale bread…rotting meat…” she mumbled vaguely, before being forced to stifle an emerging yawn with her left hand. Glancing up from her reading, Alexis noticed the darkening sky through the window for the first time.
“Bother,” she thought to herself sleepily, “It’s getting late already? No time to go outside, either…” Alexis cursed the curfew lazily as she let loose another yawn, though this time she didn’t concern herself with concealing it.
With a reluctant sigh, she slowly unravelled herself from her snug abode, shutting the tome in her lap and was gloomily returning it to her slightly frayed book bag when the voice of another girl broke through her actions.
Alexis sat up slightly, pushing her glasses further up her nose as she peered curiously over the heavily stacked piles of books. An Indian girl, whom Alexis thought she had seen sitting at the Hufflepuff table, had knocked over herself and a fifth year girl she’d never seen before. The Hufflepuff girl had sat up, and was now apologising profusely.
Discarding the various books and papers in her arms and clumsily stuffing them in her bag, she hurried over to the two, offering a helping hand out to whoever needed it. “Gosh!” she exclaimed, though there was a slight hint of amusement in her voice, before adding to the Hufflepuff sixth year, “You really ought to be more careful.”
Reflecting back on her last statement, Ally decided that that wasn’t the friendliest of greetings, and instantly felt her cheeks reddening slightly.

Quin, who had been resting on a beam, high up on the ceiling, waiting for her next victim. Her hands were resting behind her head, one leg tapping the rather unfomfortable beam, the other swinging slowly. Her breathing was slow, and her eyes closed, and her ears listened attentively for a group of students to wander bellow. A large pile of water balloons rested on her chest, and rose as she breathes. Heno was keeping watch, or, snuffling around the beam, digging out termites.
"No good night kiss for you." She whispered to him, before a sound alerted her. It sounded like two students were below. Careful not to drop any, she rolled over to look down. One she reconised as Caitlin, and Quin smiled wickedly. She could barely hear their conversation, but it looked funny. Caitlin had walked into another girl, and, judging by red cheeks, the younger girl had said something embarrasing.

Susan was taken by surprise when another student had flown right into her. They had both toppled over in the collision. Susan landed hard on her backside on to the cold stone floor. She winced, but resisted the urge to shout out in the pain that was working its way up her back. The girl that had rushed into her seemed very flustered and was apologizing profusely.
"It's alright," Susan lied, not wanting to make her feel bad. She forced a smile onto her pain-ridden face. Now not only was she sore, but she had a bruised back-side to boot! Not sure how she was going to get up, she was relieved when a young Ravenclaw offered a hand. "What is this? Grand Central Station?" Susan remarked affably at the amount of people that seemed to be moving through the foyer now. Susan took the hand and using the young girl as an anchor, she pulled herself up.
"Thanks," she muttered gratefully. She turned to the older girl now, the one that had run into her and sized her up. The fall was clearly unintentional. The girl was thoroughly embarrassed and was still sputtering apologies.
"What's gotcha all in a rush?" She asked the older girl, with a forgiving smile on her face. In waiting for the answer, Susan caught a glimpse of something scurrying across the rafters in the ceiling, but when she looked she saw nothing. Shrugging it off she returned her gaze to the older girl, curious to why she was rushing.

“Gosh! You really ought to be more careful.”
Caity blushed at the younger girl's comment as she stood, collecting her things as she went.
"I'm really, really sorry," she apologised again, noticing the Gryffindor wincing as she rose. "Are you ok? You're not hurt, are you?"
She looked up as well, trying to find the noise and answering as she did.
"I lost track of the time and a teacher caught me outside after the curfew. I managed to avoid detention but I didn't want to tempt fate. Sorry, I - Oy!" She had just seen a familiar looking face peering down from the rafters, clutching something that looked suspiciously like water bombs. As if she hadn't gotten wet enough in the last few days!
"Katrina Woods, don't even think about it!" she roared, wand out ready to deflect any "accidentaly" dropped water balloons. She didn't want another cold.

Ally smiled sociably at the older girl as she levered her to her feet, before pulling a worried expression at her outburst of pain. It was when she had reached her full height that Alexis felt instantly tiny. They both towered over her, and were clearly much older. Feeling slightly shy, she mumbled half heartedly, “If you’re not okay, you ought to go to the--”
[glow=Yellow,2,300]"Katrina Woods, don't even think about it!"[/glow]
Ally blinked in surprise at the sudden outburst of whom she had assumed to be a fairly docile person, before following her line of sight up into the castle roofing. There, a tall girl whom she had never seen or met before was scrabbling across the wooden rafters. Alexis gave a soft chuckle at the silliness of her position, before making a small noise of shock as the brunette girl whipped out her wand. Peering more carefully up at the younger yet taller girl in the wooden structure, it became apparent that she was indiscreetly clutching a coloured assortment of water balloons to her chest.
“Oy!” she shouted in annoyance, echoing the elder brunette. “Come down, we’re armed!”
She added the last comment with a wary side-glance at the Hufflepuff’s wand arm.

Susan smirked at hearing the older girl's story. She didn't much blame her for staying out a little later than allowed. Susan had always loved the outdoors and liked to spend as much time as possible on the outside, even if it might mean missing curfew by a minute or two. Or ten or fifteen? Susan hadn't personally had the chance to break curfew yet, but she did see it as an almost certain possibility.
Before Susan could reply to the Ravenclaw's comment on her well-being, the older girl directed everyone's attention to the ceiling. Susan looked closer to see in fact another young girl sitting in the rafters. The furry thing that had caught her eye either, was obviously a friend of the girl's. It was a ferret or martin of some kind, scurrying along the rafters, but never too far from its owner.
Alarmingly, Susan saw the two girls with her draw their wands. It was until Susan saw the large pile of water balloons nestled in the girls lap did Susan join them, by retrieving her wand as well. Thinking defensively, a shield charm came to mind.
"Hey what's the big idea?" Susan called to the girl in the rafters, silently pleading with her not to drop a single balloon.

Quin looked down, and forced a rather shock empression on her face. They had their wands pointed at her, and, grinning wickedly, she let out an alarmed cry and fell from the rafters, her fingers just barely grabbing the stubby ties. "Help!" She called, her face an expression of terror, until she caught herself by her toes, just like she had planned to. She let out a loud laugh, now swing by her ankles, her hands dangerously close to letting the water balloons fall below. She wasn't that far above their heads, and a well powered balloon might make it to their hair before they could cast a spell. Better to play innocant, she thought, and smiled as sweet as a little kid could. Drat..Caitlin. She thought, knowing she might be suspected.
"What big idea? Oh, hi-ya Cait-lin, how yah do-in?" She asked, her voice a playful chuckle.

Caitlin was slightly reassured when the other two girls followed her lead and pointed their own wands at the mischief-maker in the ceiling. Her eyes widened when Quin let go of the rafters and caught herself by her toes. She had been ready to shout a freezing spell, but had held her tongue a minute longer than strictly necessary, just to be sure the brat wasn't playing one of her tricks. Sure enough, she was, and Caity frowned when she began playing the innocent. Quin? Innocent? Two words that, by her estimation, should never be put into the same sentence.
"Stop playing around and get down here, Katrina." Perhaps using the name 'Katrina' was not the best way to make Quin do what you wanted, she realised in retrospect. "Now, Quin! And don't you dare drop those water balloons!"
Yet another opportunity for someone to soak her. And it wasn't even as if Quin didn't want revenge for the other night, when she herself had soaked the younger girl.
Maybe she's forgotten, she thought to herself hopefully.

Susan gasped involuntarily when the water-balloon-warrior performed a nifty trick of pretending to fall forward when actually catching herself just before falling. Caught off guard, Susan had momentarily forgotten the spell on the tip of her tongue for when the balloons would be launched. The tone in the older student's voice told Susan that she didn't expect the younger girl to give up so easily. Now that Susan looked, she too, could see a soft chuckle forming on her face. Even upside down, it was evident that this fourth year wasn't as innocent as she made herself out to be. Reassured of the hanging-girl's mischieviosity, she readied her wand again the charm returning to her memory. Momentarily, she removed her gaze from the hanging girl to the hard stone floor. What would she have done if she hadn't been able to catch herself? Susan's aching backside was proof that this floor was hard, she hated to imagine exactly how ker-splat the young girl would have gone tumbling down from the rafters. Quickly, she reverted her eyes back to the scene at hand.

“Careful!” Ally cried as the girl – Quin, was it? – veered forwards dangerously. Her left hand already reaching for her wand, she gave a panicked gasp as a seemingly terrified Quin fell forwards. Crap! she thought in horror, as no useful incantations managed to pass through her memory. Her worries were in vain, however: her face reflected her relief as Quin skilfully caught herself with her toes.
Something was definitely amiss though: both girls were glaring at Quin furiously, and it struck Ally as rather an odd response. Peering more sharply at Quin, she was in a state of utter disgust to see the ghost of a laugh playing across her face.
“What the hell!” she roared with a vehemence, her wand arm flailing superfluously. “You could’ve seriously hurt yourself or someone else! Don’t just hang around and laugh, you little brat!” In different circumstances, she would have found it a little rich for a person of her petite size to be calling anyone small, but her mind was failing to work rationally under the current circumstances.
Literally seething with anger, she finished: “Now, for Pete’s sake, just get down here, and don’t you dare drop those water balloons!” Giving her wand a final, frustrated shake, a few red sparks flew out of the end, and she glared ferociously up at Quin, though she could already feel the bulk of her rage leaving her.

Quin gave a mocking shudder at the sound of her name, which sent her dangerously close to falling off the edge of the beam. She opened her eyes and said in a sweet, innocant, and probably not believed voice, "Aww..Caity-poo! Don't call your poor Quin by that name.." She eyed the girl with a mock, pleading look, and stuck out her tounge out. A water balloon began slipping to the end of her fingers, and she looked around in a lazy fasion, as if counting the stones, not finding the perfect place to bomb.
She let one foot go, and gave a convincing, and fake, gasp of fear. "Akk!" She had a new plan. And it would be..entertaining, but not was much as the tower one had been. That had been halarious. She gave a small snicker, then covered it up, still grinning.

"Omigosh!" Susan muttered before screaming out a protective spell to catch "Quin" as Susan had caught on. She flinched as she waited for Quin to fall forward an into the spell she'd cast for her. Although weak, Susan expected the spell to at least slow her fall and protect the two girls on her side from the water balloons that would most likely be dropped in the process. Recovering from her flinch, Susan saw that Quin was in fact still joking around and hadn't intended to fall at all. Her spell dissolved and an angry look fell all over Susan's face.
"Hey what's your problem?!" she yelled at Quin. She glanced around the foyer hoping for a teacher to pop up. She was sure Quin was breaking a few rules. Unfortunately, the Foyer seemed to be deserted, but for the three of them, the oldest one of which, Susan had deducted to be called Caitlin. Susan wasn't in the mood for a good soaking, and didn't exactly want her remarkably good hair-day to end with a splash.

When she heard the youngest girl's response to how Quin was acting, Caity couldn't help but think back to how similar her own reaction had been during her first encoutner with Quin. Knowing what the brat was like, she didn't keep gasping at her acrobatics, just held her wand ready to catch her should she lose her balance. While the younger girl's anger seemed to be peetering out, hers had simply kept growing until she'd got control of the situation and walked away.
When Quin stuck her tongue out, Caity was half-tempted to do the same, but that was something she reserved for when she was playing with her little brother. Besides, then she'd seem to have the same maturity level as the brat.
The girl who she'd run into's actions were similar also when Quin pretended to fall again. Caity scowled, knowing that the Slytherin took joy in mocking other people's concern for her. It was better not to show it and just have your wand ready, because one of these days, that girl was going to seriously hurt herself.
When one of the balloons began slipping from Quin's fingers, Caity waved her wand immediately.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
Pulling the balloon magically out of Quin's hands, she safely hovered it down to shoulder level and caught it.
