Dark Phoenix smirked and tossed the vial to the wraiths. They had been keeping her alive despite blood loss since her capture, but the idea of a healing potion that produced a burn was too good to pass up.
She continued leading the way from the room as the wraiths used the burning/healing potion on D'rorah's wounds. "Very good information... my other source has been less successful in gathering the information I require..."
She thought for a moment. "I don't think we'll need to use you as bait... we have the Warrior of Wind here. They will come for her. They are too foolish to simply leave her to die... of course, I wouldn't kill her anyway when she can be so useful to me."
She assessed her new recruit carefully. He had come so suddenly, so willingly. "Your information is good... I am please for now," she said. "I must attend to this information." She gave Gat a wicked smile. "Either rest or continue your torture... I can see quite clearly that you enjoy your work. I will be planning our next move."
With a sweep of her cloak, she moved down the corridor quickly, headed off to plan.

D'rorah writhed in agony as the wraiths slowly forced her back to consciousness. As her wounds slowly closed, she felt a searing pain in her flesh. Blisters raised wherever the potion touched. She felt as though her body was being lashed with branding irons, over and over again.
She could see now that death would never come... they would keep her like this until she escaped or until she finally gave in and joined with the Mage. Her eyes searched the room for any tool that might help her escape as her mind slowly descended into darkness. It had been so long... so very long since the battle in the forest.
Briefly, she considered the possibility that she could meld to Shadow Form and free herself from her bonds, but she knew she would not be able to resist the temptation of the Shadow Realm if she did. She took a deep, shaky breath as she fought through blinding pain and her own splintering consciousness to try to think her way out of the situation.
Please God, she pleaded silently to the God she had turned away from the night her parents had died, allow me to die... it is the only way... As the thought formed in her mind, a silent tear materialized at the corner of her eye. She expected no salvation... but she had to carry on... she could not betray her friends.
Friends who would leave you here to be tortured? asked a skeptical voice in her mind.
They do not know where I am.
They have forgotten about you. What did they ever do for you? You have spent days, endless hours researching, bringing them all together. No help, no encouragement; you do not have any friends, D'rorah Philosophy.
Friends or not, we work for the same goal. I will not betray them! I am strong... I will not fail!
The war had begun in her mind. Only time would tell now which side would be victorious. How far could her psyche splinter before breaking down completely? The once-familiar pain of the wraiths' daggers intensified exponentially on her now burnt flesh as she fought once again to control her screams.

Gat watched as he walked down the corridor. Gat wondered at what he was going to do now. He was left alone in a room and was slightly bored. He walked down to the room where they were torturing D'rorah. Torture was a skill he had inherited from his parents a long while ago. He did not like being in this place. The shadows had the same effect on him as on D'rorah and were slowly tormenting his mind. He wanted to go back to hogwarts. They did not know that he was evil and he would be accepted as a regular kid as he attended classes. He watched as the wraiths caused D'rorah pain and slowly drifted off to sleep slumped against the wall.

Gat woke with a start. He got up and walked to the wraiths torturing D'rorah. She looked like she was taking no pain at all. In fact she looked sort of like she was healing. He had read about this happening before in the book his mother wrote. It could only be done through telepathy. Was she a telepath. If so he would need to act immediatly. If he was ever going to return to Hogwarts, he couldn't let them know about it. That was if it wasn't too late. Gat decided to try something. He took the dagger off one of the wraiths and breathed fire on it to make it completly hot and enflamed. He plunged it into the chest of D'rorah and once again it looked like she felt no pain. He grabbed the wraith by the shoulder who was nearest him. "Go get the Shadow Mage and fast!!!" He shouted at him. Then he turned back to her to inflict as much pain as possible.

One of the wraiths had thought quickly and struck D'rorah in the head with a heavy object, causing her to lose consciousness. This severed the mental connection to Dien. She was quickly brought back to consciousness by the sensation of a hot blade being plunged into her chest. She was once again in agony, having lost Dien as a buffer.
"Mister Soldier," she said weakly as she fought to control her breathing and hold back a howl of agony, "I... saved... your..." she trailed off as her whole body spasmed with a cough. Gat's blade had plunged deeply and punctured a lung. "Life..." she croaked finally.
She didn't understand what had won him to the Mage's side. She had so carefully befriended him... had almost begun to trust him. Her breathing now was shallow and fast as her body fought to supply itself with oxygen. She smiled triumphantly; it seemed she would finally have her wish as she felt the chill of death begin to seep through her veins. She slumped back against the table, hoping she would be taken quickly.

Summoned by one of her wraiths, the Mage arrived in the holding cell just in time to see D'rorah slumping against the tables.
"FOOLS!" she boomed, her voice shaking with rage. "First, you allow someone to contact her and now you've almost killed her. I will not lose this girl. She is MINE!"
Dark Phoenix rushed forward and studied the girl for a moment. She turned and glared at the dagger in Gat's hand. "Imbecile. She can't breathe now." She turned her attention back to D'rorah. This would have to be handled carefully now... she began pulling on the magic of the Shadow Realm for a healing spell. It was very energy consuming and difficult, considering that the darkness of the Shadow Realm was never intended to be used for healing.
Finally, after an intense period of concentration, the hole in D'rorah's lungs had been knitted together and the wound sealed. Dark Phoenix stepped back and observed that D'rorah's breathing had slowed and deepened. She turned to Gat.
"Watch her... keep her in pain, but carefully. I want her alive... she will help me to defeat the others." She narrowed her eyes and added. "And failure is something I do not tolerate."
She dove into Gat's mind and began stimulating pain receptors, causing him agony. After several moments of watching him writhe in agony, she pulled back and glared down at him. "Next time I won't be so lenient." She paused, having sensed his concern of being discovered. "Question her when she wakes. Find out if she told them anything." With a wave of her hand, a pair of reapers appeared in the room, carrying their deadly Shadow Scythes. "Guard her mind," she ordered. "See she does not contact anyone else from the outside."
With that, she stormed from the room to continue her planning.

[glow=red,2,300]"And failure is something I do not tolerate."[/glow] Gat writhed in pain on the ground. He could not control his body. Then it stopped. He slowly stood. He could not believe he had let that happen, he was usually so careful. He couldn't believe he had nearly killed her. But she had done it. D'rorah had opened the bond between them. He could no longer torture her. Nor watch her being tortured.
[glow=red,2,300]"See she does not contact anyone else from the outside."[/glow]
He stood as fast as his pained muscles allowed and ran after the Shadow Mage.
"Wait master!" He shouted after her. He finally caught up.
"I (pant) have (pant) veritaserum (pant) at (pant) Hogwarts. Can house elves apparate into the shadow realm, because they can take me into Hogwarts." He told him in a strained voice as if his very lungs had been strained. He could still feel the pain he recieved and his body was tingling. He felt like collapsing on the ground.

D'rorah watched as Gat rushed from the room. Had she seen something change in his eyes? She inhaled sharply as another blade bit into her flesh. Never before had she truly regarded magic as sinister, but this constant torture followed by healing was certainly sinister.
She wondered... if she had truly seen a change in his eyes, perhaps she could somehow use him to help her escape.

The Mage turned and looked at Gat, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. "The only way to access this realm is through a rift," she replied slowly. "And there are very few who are actually capable of it." A simper of superiority appeared on her face.
She snapped her fingers and signaled for a Reaper. "Take Gat back to the Forest," she commanded. "Allow him to retrieve whatever he needs and then return him here." Her malicious gaze roved over Gat. "If he does not return..." she shrugged, "kill him."
She leaned close and whispered into his ear. "Make sure you return to question her... and I would be very careful. You never know what she might have told the others about you." With an evil grin, she turned and walked away, leaving Gat in the corridor with the Reaper.

As the Shadow Mage said, 'kill him' he flinched. But he did wonder. Why would he run away this early. Especially after seeing how powerful the Shadow Mage was. This confused him deeply. He stepped into the portal. He knew he would not be caught. His house elf could apparate in and out of Hogwarts before anyone noticed. As he stepped out, he noticed that Professor Spade was still lying petrified on the ground. He ignored the professor and called for hiss house elf.
"Ghastly." With a pop, his house elf appeared instantly. He grabbed his house elf's arm. Take me to the Slytherin common room. With a pop, he dissapeared. He reapeared in his common room dormitory. He ran to his bedside and took his whole trunk of things and came to Ghastly once more. With a pop they once again dissapeared and appeared outside the portal once more. He wondered if the shadow reaper would listen to him. He thought that he would not chance it. He lugged the heavy professor over his shoulder and dragged him inside the portal after the shadow reaper.

Dark Phoenix had been waiting for Gat's return and stood there watching as he came back through with Spade. She smiled evilly. "Ahhh... and... whom, might I ask, do we have here?"
She poked the unconscious figure. "Is this another gift for me Gat?" she asked. She wondered if he had truly had the foresight to bring this person in atonement for his failure earlier. "Who is he?"
She looked down the corridor, listening to the wraiths as they continued torturing D'rorah. After a moment, she returned her attention to Gat. "Put him in my study and then attend to the girl. You still have to finish corrupting her."

Spade was afraid and didn't know what to do. He marveled at the sight of the mage and D'rorah who looked as if she went through the most horrid thing he could think of. "J-J-Jared Spade," he murmered. The he rose and brushed himself off. "I apologize for being away so long Mage. It took me longer than I expected. The others will becoming soon." He spat in another direction and looked to D'rorah once more. "CRUCIO!" he boomed. Smiling is devilish smile, he couldn't help to feel how much he had let D'rorah down. "Fooled are you?!" His laughter became louder and louder. "The mage sent me there to spy on you and your little friends! Why do you think i accepted you friendship offer so quickly? Ask yourself this D'rorah, how do you think the mage found out you were going to be in the woods on that exact night? It was me D'rorah. From the beginning you've set yourself up!"

D'rorah once again writhed under the torture of a cruciatus. She was thankful that, at least for the moment, no more blades were being dragged upon flesh that was now burnt and scarred beyond any semblance of humanity. As the curse dissipated, she gathered her breath. "Why is then, Professor, that you seem so shaken by the very horror you serve?"
Internally she cursed her own stupidity. How could she, who was so cautious and reluctant to trust, have possibly have laid such a trap for herself? What could turn an Elemental Master to the Mage's side. "When she is finished with you, you will be cast aside like so much detritus," she scoffed weakly.
She braced herself as the wraiths once again circled around her, their daggers drawn as they returned to their sport. She wished now that she had killed Spade when she'd had the chance. Steadily, the darkness crept into her own veins... the Mage would soon win her, despite her valiant resistance. Her eyes had already begun to grow cold and dark as corruption stole through her mind.

Dark Phoenix laughed triumphantly. "Excellent work, Jared," she said, an evil smile spreading across her features. "Soon we will have three." She gazed at D'rorah meaninfully, seeing the darkness in the girl's eyes.
"Don't worry my dear. My servants are always handsomely rewarded. Aren't they Jared?" she asked, switching her gaze to him. "Gat, Jared, attend to the girl's corruption... I believe having those she thought she could trust administer the pain is more effective than using the wraiths."
She smiled evilly as she handed each of them a dagger. "Enjoy, gentlemen." She stood back to watch. "And remember, don't kill her. She's far more useful if we bring her to our side... poor Shadow Warrior. Can't fight the darkness any longer?" she mocked in a high voice. With a laughter that could have shattered glass, she stood against the wall, waiting.
