((ooc: It's actually raining where I am! I'm excited--we've been in a horrible drought!))
Susan watched as Dylan submerged himself in the water. Did the squid get him? Susan thought as she treaded water uneasily. She looked around vigilantly. She could hear the water moving, but she didn't see Dylan through the heavy down pour.
"Dylan?" She asked hesitantly. Suddenly she felt something touching her. Her neck when stiff. She froze, only moving to keep herself afloat. The "tentacle" reached her shoulder and she heard a familiar laugh. "Dylan!" Susan tried to say, however she was thrust under the water before the word could escape her mouth.
Under the water, Susan struggled to make it to the surface. Thrashing around uselessly, Susan lost hold of Dylan and the next thing she new, she was being dangled by her ankle above the lake by a large slimy tentacle. Susan would have screamed except for this gesture by the squid didn't seem menacing. It dropped Susan and allowed he to get herself right-side-up before playfully splashed at the two of them. It was easy to see that this squid was clearly a friend. The tentacle carefully slipped below the surface and Susan turned to face Dylan with a huge smile on her face.
"Did you see that?" She managed, giddy with excitement, "Amazing!"

Laughing immensly, Dylan saw her dragged out of the water, as well as his grasp, by a big squishy-looking pink tentacle. His mouth agape somewhat, he wondered at the dangers involved, and thought of a spell to loosen the things grip should he need to use it. Seeing her released, however, he put his wand back into his shorts pocket, and then got promptly splashed by the squid. A smile returning to his face, he saw Susan turn to him, a similar look adorning her pretty features. "Pretty cool yeah, I was ready to defend you though. Totally." he said in a jokingly cool manner, raising his eyebrows and flexing his wee muscles.
A glorious smile replaced his joking face, his eyes wrinkled at the corners, as well as his mouth, and his eyes doing that wonderful thing they did so often, lighting up the rest of his face. He hadn't been this happy for a long while, and he splashed Susan once more, playfully.

Susan, laughed and splashed through the rain. The rain continued to get thicker still and it didn't look like it would let up anytime soon. The clouds were a menacing black and the water rippled with the impact of the rain. For the first time, Susan became fearful. The weather had taken a turn for the worse. Susan looked to the sky just in time to see a huge streak of lightening light up the sky. The lightening was followed by a loud crack of thunder.
Susan looked to Dylan, her eyes wide. "Maybe we should stop swimming?" Susan whispered, and another bolt of lightening streaked through the sky. She let out a little yelp as the thunder shook the Earth once more. It was one thing to be swimming in the rain, but another to be swimming in a thunderstorm.

Seeing an extremely bright flash out of the corner of his eye and hearing the accompanying rumble of thunder, he determined how far away it was. Not far. He saw Susan direct her gaze at him, fearfully, and suggest they leave. "Good idea," he said, loud enough to be heard over the pelting rain. All traces of a smile gone from his face now, he headed for the bank. He was not particularly happy about the fact that if the two of them ran back towards the school, they would stand out, the tallest amongst a field of grass. A bolt of lightning attempting to find the highest point in an area of lows was not their friend right now.
Reaching the grassy slope, he hopped out of the lake and turned as soon as he was stable to help Susan. Seeing another flash that was soon followed by a crack, he found that it was louder this time; closer. "Come on, grab my hand."

Susan followed Dylan toward the shore, moving quickly. Grateful for the help, Susan took Dylan's hand and let him help her out of the water. The wind had begun to pick up and if it was possible, the sky even darker. Susan ran to her robes and shoes. She stopped a moment to use her wand to change her swim suit back in to her dress, then slipped on her soaked robe. It would be no use trying to dry it, she thought, it would become soaked again almost instantly. She held both of her shoes in one hand with her wand in the other.
The castle seemed ridiculously far away. Earlier, Susan had enjoyed the length of the field between the lake and the school. Now she cursed it. It was going to be a task getting back to the castle in one piece. Susan gripped her wand tighter. It might be necessary to use a shielding charm. She looked for Dylan to see if he was ready to make the run for the castle.

Tugging her out of the water, he made sure she was stable and wouldn't fall back in before turning with her to get their clothes. He found his absolutely soaking things and gathered them in his arms, not bothering to put any on. He was cold enough, it couldn't hurt for the two more minutes that he was planning to spend outside in the storm.
Plucking his wand out of his pocket for extra safety, he muttered a few words and suddenly his eyes were devoid of water; he was able to see much better now, and think more clearly with that problem out of his way. "Susan, I think we should go around the edge of the forest and up to the greenhouses, then to the castle. It'll take longer but it should be safer," he said, practically yelling to get his voice to travel to her over the minimal distance. Another flash of lightning; another crack of thunder, and he wanted to hurry.
The rain pelted the lake, the grass, the trees and the two unfortunate students stuck in the midst of it all. It flattened the grass and made it slippery beyond belief, caused roaring waves to develop far out in the middle of the lake. All Dylan could hear was the harsh battering of that rain, and the occasional rumble that was getting ever closer.

Susan could just barely hear the shouts issued by Dylan. She traced the route with her mind, and ran her eyes along their decided path. Forest, greenhouses, castle. Susan nodded extra big, rather than trying to voice her "yes". Susan pushed her sopping wet hair out of her face and performed the same spell as Dylan to keep the water off of her eyelashes and out of her eyes. Their plan became much clearer. Susan swallowed hard.
"Ready?!" Susan yelled, but her words were lost in another boom of thunder. Instead she motioned with her arm for Dylan to follow. Susan began the passage, making sure to see that Dylan was following. Several times, Susan almost lost her balance on the matted down and very muddy grass. She held her shoes tightly in her hand tried to move as quickly has possible with out falling.

Dylan saw her nod heavily, glad that he could see better after that spell. He saw her start off and he followed closely, slipping and sliding on the now very muddy grass. He saw her doing the same and prepared himself to catch her if need be, but couldn't focus on her completely right now, needing all of his concentration to stay upright. They reached the edge of the forest and he began up it, towards the castle. Using the trees to help support him, he rather liked this better than wading through the unpredictable bare slope.
Continuing up with a determined look on his face, he clenched his jaw and panted slightly. It seemed quite an effort to dredge up to Hogwarts, soaking wet, paddling through the heavy rain.

The thunder came closer and the lightening grew brighter, but Susan continued moving just as steady. Slowly but surely, their destination grew closer. Along the Forest, Susan couldn't help but look into the darkness that was held behind the trees. It was almost dry on the inside of the forest Susan noticed. The canopy of the trees was so thick the ground a few feet in was as dry as any other day. It was strange how two places so close together could be so different.
Shaking her thoughts of the forest, Susan proceeded quickly toward the greenhouses. Unfortunately she moved a little too quickly. In the small open space between the forest and the green house, Susan manage to slip and fall face first into the mud, in the process dropping her shoes, but keeping a tight hold on her wand. Susan's curses on her clumsiness were lost in the thunder and rain. "Accio flats!" Susan said desperately trying to retrieve her shoes as quickly as possible. Soon they were in her hand once more. "Tergio!" She commanded, siphoning most of the mud and water off of her face and robes. Very carefully, as not to slip and fall again, Susan began to stand up.

Finally coming adjacent to the greenhouses, he made his way out onto the grassy slope, no longer supported by the trees. He saw Susan just ahead of them, and apparantly she wasn't coping well with the slippery surface. She fell face-first into the mud, and by the time Dylan finally reached her, she was already attempting to scramble to her feet. His feet sliding around uncertainly as he stood above her, his arm extended, he wondered whether or not he could even support her were she to accept his help.
She said something that was blown away by the now rather strong winds, and he assumed it was a cleaning spell due to the sudden lack of mud on her face. Having no thoughts to spare for anything other than getting the two of them back up to the castle safely, he lowered his arm once more and chose to scoop her up instead. Hoping against all hope that he would not fall, he took her in his arms and slowly and not-so-surely made his way further up the slope towards the glowing lights of the castle.

With the help of Dylan, they were both moving again. The wind almost blew them over several times, it had an unwavering speed. Perhaps it was the added weight of Susan that helped them from falling. After much struggling, they were finally at the greenhouses. One more measure and they would be home. Susan tried to get Dylan to put her down.
"I'm fine, I can do it," She pleaded, not wanting to be a burden. She was a good two inches taller than him and they seemed Tto be about the same weight. She could only imagine how heavy she must have been, especially with her thick soaked robe. As they passed the greenhouses it was time for the final stretch. The castle seemed further than ever, and there was no time to waste.
The rainwater flowed like a river down the hill they were climbing and the patches where grass was missing filled with a sticky mud. The storm showed no signs of letting up, so their journey continued. Soon they would be within the warm castle, hopefully with towels and a fire place to dry off with. For now, Susan shivered, her teeth chattering, struggling to keep moving toward their destination.
(OOC: modified, sorry about the misunderstanding.)

Smiling down at the girl in his arms, he figured he may as well not bother, the expression probably indiscernible from the stormy background. They reached the greenhouse in what seemed like an hour but was actually only a few minutes and he paused for a moment. Looking down, he saw her speaking but couldn't recognise the words as they became lost in the storm. Figuring any shake of his head would be usless, he simply grunted slightly and set his jaw, beginning to move off towards the castle.
Seeing the bright yellow balls of light coming ever closer, he began to speed up. Still, he wasn't at a pace that would even be considered a fast walk. He felt a constant shivering in his arms and hurried, moving at a pace that both carried them a decent distance per minute and ensured a minimum amount of safety.
After another five or so minutes of ploughing through the hectic weather, a bolt of lightning flashed and entered the forbidden forest and thunder roared above the pair. Dylan quickly rushed to the main door and barged his way inside, making sure to protect Susan. They finally reached the relative safety of the Entrance Hall, Dylan puffing and heaving frantically, and he placed her feet gently on the ground. Staying as close to her to make sure she didn't fall, he sighed a breath of relief.

Susan could barely breathe. Her heart was pounding a million miles a minute. The rush from their journey filled her with adrenaline. They were both dripping all over the stone floor. With the way the water was falling off of them, they would soon become a safety hazard. "Tergio!" Susan tried to siphon most of the water off of their bodies and the floor. Her spell was weak however, and left them both a little damp with puddles still forming at their feet.
"It was worth a try," Susan laughed at their appearances. It came as a shock to hear her own voice, which just a few moments ago would have been lost in the storm. Thinking of voices lost in the storm, she came to the realization that Dylan must not have heard her ask to be let down.
"It was really nice of you to carry me," Susan mentioned, embarrassed, "You didn't have to, you know." As a friendly gesture, Susan suddenly hugged Dylan. "Thanks," she said simply as she reclined. It meant a lot that she had a friend who was as nice as Dylan.

After finding he was able to once out of imminent danger, Dylan laughed. Despite the circumstances, he'd enjoyed that enormously. The adrenaline was rushing through his body and he wished more than anything that he could do something exciting and fun right now. Feeling himself dry slightly, or at least now look like he'd simply been walking in the rain as opposed to jumping in a lake, he smiled.
As she thanked him, he clenched his jaw and simply took it as it was, looking to the floor embarassedly. He really didn't take compliments well, probably because he very rarely got them. Before he knew what was happening, he felt her hugging him and felt slightly awkward. He hoped she didn't want anything more than friendship, though it didn't particularly seem like she would. Figuring she was just purely thankful, he smiled shyly. "It's fine, really..." he said quietly, looking back up to her once more.
He felt only slightly bad that they'd made a muddy, sopping mess on the impeccably clean marble floor, but decided he should try and clean it up a bit more. Imitating Susan, he pointed his wand at himself. "Tergio," he mutted, the mud instantly disappearing from sight along with most of the remaining water. Repeating the process on Susan, he was much more pleased with their appearances now.

Susan looked down at her self to see all of the mud and water completely gone from her clothes. Susan laughed, "Thanks for that too." It was considerably warmer inside of the Castle and Susan had ceased shivering, especially now that she was completely dry. Now, not only was Susan dry, but she was full of energy.
The storm outside, still roared with ferocity. The occasional streak of lightening and crack of thunder gave the castle an overall spooky disposition. It was unusually dark, although it was hardly night time. The darkness from the storm seemed to be creeping inside the castle as well. Dinner would be served in an hour or so, and then the ground floor of the castle would be filled with the rest of the student body. For now, a few students roamed the halls, desperate for dinner or simply bored, waiting for something exciting to happen.
Susan rubbed her hands together, the warmth returning to her white knuckles almost instantly. "I had fun today," Susan said to Dylan, "Maybe we can go swimming again." "In more amiable weather though," Susan added, "I don't mind the rain, but a full out thunderstorm is a little much." She laughed trying to imagine the weather the next time they would be at the lake.
