As Kylo explained and definition formed in her mind. "Oh!" she explained as realization dawned on her. She did sort of understand. "You mean you can see auras!" She understood from the many horoscope research she had done as before she knew she was a witch about the planets and how they affected and influenced your life. She knew now that horoscopes were a bunch of bologna and that in order to truly understand and predict the future you must study divination. Since Professor Albion's leave of absence, Susan had failed to keep up with her independent studies on the subject. She did remember researching aura's in her studies.
Often migraine induced and now, Susan had learned, from Synesthesia, aura's were the halo-like colors or lights emitted from an object. The color and shape of the aura suggested it's mood, being, or soul.
"What color aura do I have?" Susan asked excitedly. As a muggle she had come recognize that as a Libra, her aura was "purple or blue". These seemed to be very generic colors and her CosmoGirl! issue was most likely inaccurate. She looked, searchingly into Kylo's silvery green eyes, waiting for the correct answer.

Kylo gave her a small grin, excited and happy that she didn't think he was mad, or different, or freakish. Still smiling his goofy grin, he thought for a moment. Sometimes, such as after different stimutlations, like after a rollor-coaster, or perhaps if he had a great shock, he could see aura's. He looked at her closely, up and down, tilting his head. His eyes were blurred, relaxed. Finally, after a few moments, he could see her aura, or, a flicker of it. Tendrils of hers floated through the air, torwards what she was focusing on, which, in this case, was his.
"Well, when you say your name, it is a bright red, sand paper textured, ovel. It has blueish green markings one it, like freckles. Your aura.." He blushed slightyly, and tried to fight for some confendence. "Your aura," He repeated, "Is a very pretty, dark blue with light green swirls. And, it snakes out at what ever you are connentracting on, like most do."

Better than CosmoGirl!, Susan smirked to herself. Automatically she looked down at her arms held her hand in front of her face. She half-expected to see the green swirls described by Kylo. Instead she just saw her plain old hand, tanned and calloused from writing, dirty and paint-ridden fingernails painted bright yellow, and that small scar she managed to get from a curling iron a few years ago. No aura was apparent to Susan's eyes. She shrugged, laughing at herself for expecting her to see something. She tried to imagine seeing her name as a red oval with blue freckles and couldn't do it. She couldn't even fathom what it would even begin to look like.
Eager to return the story, "Now that I understand, is there more to your story?" Susan gestured by pointing to her own face where a scar would have been if she were Kylo. She didn't mean to be pushy, she was just eager to know what part the synesthesia had in the story.

"Uh..yeah..the story right, well," He had almost forgotten why he had been telling his secret. Her aura flickered again, and he saw it for a moment, tendrils stretching to his aura, showing that she was eager for something he had, his story. It was very beautiful, but he looked away, reragening his thoughts back to his story.
"Like I said, It was so loud I couldn't see or even think with all the colors in my mind, floating through the air. I would have drowned if it wasn't for my board. I storm was coming, and it hit like a flash of freak lightning. The waves were high enough to hide an elephant, and the rocks were sharp, ragged, and the surf pounded against them with enough force to snap a neck. I was afraid, I paniced. I thrashed around and sliced myself on a rock, it was my foot. Then the shark came. They get blood lust, when they smell blood, otherwize they can be very docile." He took a breath, and waited to see her reaction before continuing.

Susan remained rapt throughout the continuation of Kylo's story. Although she liked a good scary story, this one was particularly scary. Especially since the main character was sitting right in front of her. Susan hardly blinked for being so into the story. At the mention a shark, Susan gasped involuntarily.
"Sorry," she muttered sheepishly. She knew the terror of sharks from her own beach. Though they usually don't show themselves unless there is an unusual shortage of food . . . Susan leaned in even closer to Kylo. He was a little soft-spoken, re realized, and didn't want to miss a single word of his saying. Wide eyed and savoring every breath, Susan listened on for what happened next.
"What happened? With the shark!" she urged Kylo to continue.

Kylo, seeing her expression, flashed a goofy smile and then blushed, before turning his face back to it's sollelom expression. "Right then, the shark. I snatched onto my bored, grabbing on tight while the thunder blinded me. I felt something smooth, sleek, pass under my foot. Then another, a tail I think, whap against my side. It was circling me, and I was so, so scared.." His face was dark, and he felt some of the old terror stir in his chest, "I paniced, and got cut again. The shark couldn't resist, and, just my luck, the new slice was on my face. It bite me. Hard, but it couldn't get a grip, so it had half it's jaw on me." He shivered unconsiously, "Then, the blood pouring out, I began to feel light headed, but I now could see with amazing clairty. More sharks swam around like a parched man does water. Then.." He gave her a slightly confused look, mainly because he couldn't remember what had happened. More sharks, everything was defined in red, and then he was out, of the water. He took a few breaths, trying to remember.

Susan listened intently, gasping at all the right parts. She knew the story must have some-sort of a good ending considering the fact that Kylo was in fact sitting right next to her. He had to escape from the sharks some how, and the cuts must heal, and someone/thing/himself must save him. As of now, she was quite unaware of anything that had been going on around them. The other students by the lake were forgotten. Susan's eyes were no longer glanced out at the squid across the lake. The grasshopper that she ha been listening to and the flowers she'd been smelling earlier were now of no interest to her. All of Susan's attention was on Kylo, and Kylo alone. She held her breath waiting to hear what happened next.

Glowing happlily, he noted that she was a very good listener. She gasped at the right parts, and made him feel like he was on a stage. His face warmed a tad, and he smiled goofily. He was gaining comfidence, and that was something he rarely felt. "Uh, right then it felt like something was pulling me away from the shark, because it was loosing it's grip on my face. I could feel them recede under my feet. Then, I ended up on the cliff tops, looking down at the shark infested water. Blood was gushing down my face, and I could feel I would faint soon. I think," He raised a finger comicily, "I think it was my magic ability kicking in, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I just staggered up, wandered over in the direcition od my house, and was finally found after I collapsed on the base of a palm tree." His face was shame-faced, and he looked at the ground. "And thats..it.."

Susan listened to the ending of Kylo's recount just as raptly as the beginning. Her favorite part was the fact that Kylo ended up alright. Though a little gory, Susan appreciated the fact that Kylo had shared everything with her. Hufflepuff, Susan labeled him with out asking first. There were something things she just knew.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that," she carefully put her arms awkwardly around him in a side-hug. "Thanks for sharing it with me," she added meaning more than just the story. She was grateful that Kylo had felt comfortable sharing the whole thing with her. Finished with her thank you, she returned her arms to her own sides.
"So!" she said clapping her hands together, "Anything happy we want to talk about?" She smiled brightly, trying to cover up the redness of her cheeks with the whiteness of her teeth. Not that she was down-grading Kylo's story time, Susan was merely trying to avoid the awkward-ness that seemed to accompany her in all the wrong times.

Kylo grinned stupidly as she hugged him, and gave her an awkward, quick hug back, before sitting down, blushing slightly. "Thank you." He whispered, looking at his hands. He said that because she had been willing to listen without think he was different, and because of the hug, and for some spontanous reason.
"So!" she said clapping her hands together, "Anything happy we want to talk about?"
Kylo blushed slightly and smiled charateristic quizzical smiling. Noticing that she had blushed slightly, he tried to think of a different topic. "So," He said, still trying to think with his muddled brain, "So, uh, do you have a..broom?" He asked, randomly. Maybe she plays Quitich, he thought excitedly. Ever sense he had come to the school, he had loved the sport, though he had a rather shabby broom.

Brooms. The topic Kylo had brought up was forced to the front of her mind. It was obvious that as a boy, and as a wizard, he ought to have some interest in their main sport, Quidditch. It was funny how which one change of a topic they had come from Kylo's past to Susan's. She didn't like to talk about it. It made things confusing and difficult, and it certainly wasn't a happy story. Susan, as a generally happy person, didn't like to show the sad and depressing side of her life.
"No," she said quietly, "no I do not have a broom." Trying to keep the conversation lighthearted she laughed dryly, "I like to keep my feet on the ground, you know?" It wasn't a lie, she did love the Earth and all. Avoiding the certain thoughts in her own head, she returned her gaze to the lake again, focusing extra hard on locating the squid.
