Just as she was beginning to panic, Caitlin looked up to see a blue-haired boy sit down next to her. With a slight shock she realised his eyes were bright yellow as well. Momentarily distracted from the nearly out-of-control flames, she wondered why he was coming in so late.
"Do you need help?"
Putting aside his unusual appearance for the moment, she was about to reply when Professor Sparrow appeared out of nowhere. The teacher flicked her wand and within a few seconds the flames were back under control.
“My dear, that wand is useless. You need to get I fixed, and quickly. May I suggest that you do so this afternoon?”
Caity nodded miserably. “Thank you professor.” She had been hoping that her wand would continue to work, but apparently that would not be the case. How the hell was she supposed to explain to her parents that she needed a new wand because a man who used to teach at Hogwarts but was now being controlled by an evil shadow creature had snapped her old wand in half? She was going to need to think of another reason – doubtless it would be something that she would get shouted at for, but she couldn’t exactly tell them the truth on this matter. They’d become all protective and not want to let her return to the school. Now she had discovered she was one of the lightfighters, and heeding D’rorah’s warning on the matter of travelling alone, she couldn’t risk being removed from Hogwarts like Alessandro had been. For all she knew, the Shadow Mage would end up attacking her while she was at home, possibly causing harm to her family. That couldn’t be allowed to happen – they were all muggles, they couldn’t defend themselves.
She smiled at the boy who’d sat next to her. “Thanks anyway.”
She continued to make her potion and eventually finished without any more mishaps five minutes early, surprisingly enough. She bottled a sample and began to tidy away, glancing over at the boy as she did so. “What’s your name? I haven’t seen you around before.”

((I think I've waited for long enough, time to wrap things up.))
Evelyn slowly made her way back to the front of the classroom. Her notebook had several marks on it already. Noting how many of the students had failed to follow the directions properly, and even more had simply skipped steps, or ignored the time needed for each step. She shook her head in a small amount of disappointment, and then continued to her desk. Glancing at the clock she noted that there was little more than 10 minuets till the class was dismissed.
"Alright students, time is up! Any one who has not labeled a vial and placed it in the rack on my desk has three minuets to do so. If you do not have a vial labeled and here in that time you will get a failing grade, which will result in lost points. After your potion is turned in you may begin to clean up. I expect to see the desks in the same order, and state of cleanliness as when you first arrived!"
With her instructions given out she turned to see the vials that had already been turned in to the collection rack. Philosophy, Cooper, Weiss, Cruz, they had already bottled their potions, and most had been collected. O'Connell, was waiting for hers to cool, and Collins, and Bishop appeared to be nearly done as well. Most of the class appeared to be about finished with the exception of Baine, and Finch. Neither of which seem to be ready to bottle their sample. Evelyn looked to the clock once more, and hoped that they would submit something for their work before the time ran out.

Caity had just finished her potion as the Professor spoke and now got a vial to bottle a sample of it. It wasn’t perfect, but considering how bad it could have gone it didn’t seem too bad. Hopefully she should at least get an Acceptable. Quickly labelling it with her name and year, she placed the sample in the rack on Professor Sparrow’s desk and turned back to her desk, starting to clear up. Her own desk wasn’t too bad in terms of cleanliness – there was some leftover scarab beetle which she quickly cleared and disposed of, but other than that she was soon done.
Packing up the cauldron and storing away the other ingredients, Caitlin waited for the final dismissal. The lesson hadn’t been a complete disaster, although she was finally convinced that she did indeed need a new wand. Delaying and denying it hadn’t helped, either. Trying to remember her timetable, she knew that in a couple of days she had no lessons – perhaps she could go into Diagon Alley then to get a new wand.

After her vial was labeled correctly Keaira took a moment to glance around the room. She had spent many night sitting in this room. Quietly meditating with the only sound coming from her grandfathers wooden flute. She would come beck to this room nearly every night, even if she hated to do it now. Her eyes drifted to a small spot in the front of the classroom where Dien and her had sat the night they were bonded. Images of Dien's past came to mind, him growing up as a child, Dien at Hogwarts, the house cup, and then the quidditch world cup, and finally his first death. Murdered by some one who was simply could not stand being second best to Dien. Then as it seemed to do, she began thinking of the last time she saw Dien.
Her thoughts remained on the way his broken body seemed to hang from the chains that held him up. The look in his eyes as she watched the scythe slash across his chest would probably be burned in to her mind for as long as she lived. If it had not been for Professor Sparrow's words on handing in her cooled potion Keaira might very well have sat there lost in her thoughts until some one rose her from them. A sigh escaped her lips, and she shook her head slowly to help clear the remaining thoughts, before she moved to fill the labeled vial that she left on her desk.
The potion had cooled for a little over 5 minutes when she began ladling the finished product in to the bottle. With her mind back to the class at hand she looked around at her fellow students, noting some of them were already done and cleaned up, while others were not even close to what might be considered done. With her finished product sealed and ready to go Keaira stood up and was about to head to the collection rack when she stopped to see that Zane's vial was hastily prepared, but ready to be turned in. So, since Keaira was going up there any way she scooped up Zane's vial, and placed it on the rack besides her own, then with the potion finished there was naught left to do but clean up.

Evelyn took a seat at her desk, and began neatly stacking her papers once more. There was very little she could do about the failings of some students, but there were plenty that showed such prowess. It left her with a mixed dispossession. Part of her wanted to be happy for those that succeeded, and hope that her encouragement would help the others to pick up their books. But then there was the other part of her that believed that there was little she could do to help those that didn't wish to be helped.
Shaking her head, she moved over to the collections rack and picked it up from her desk. Carrying the rack carefully she opened a nearby cabinet and placed the rack with in it. With the potions stored she once again turned to address her class, noting that many of them were already cleaned up and ready to get to there next lesson.
"Alright students, I will be grading your samples, and handing out a graded sheet to you all at the beginning of the next class. For those of you who failed to turn in a potion you will receive negative points for your house, please, next time put more effort in to your class work. Your homework for next class is to study the ingredients and effects of as many poison as you can. Soon we will begin learning how to make antidotes based on the poison. Have a great day class, and don't forget to study."
Evelyn smiled through her assigning of her homework, and as she finished she flicked her wand toward the class room door, causing it to open itself in to the dungeon corridor.

Cavan sighed, all his supplies cleaned and packed away. He was very disappointed in himself and decided to do extra homework. On top of the homework she'd given, he was going to look into the antidotes or each poison he researched. He was going to write out step-by-step instructions on how to prepare both, including ingredients. He would pass this class with high marks, even if it meant cutting back on his recreational translating for his siblings.
As Professor Sparrow finished speaking, she flicked her wand toward the class room door, causing it to open itself in to the dungeon corridor. He lifted his messenger bag onto his shoulder and was the first one out the door. He wanted to get back to his common room post haste so that he could start on his homework right away. The quicker he got there, the longer period of time her would have to study before dinner. If he was quick about that too, then maybe he could get a good deal of the work done today. Just a short stop in the library to find a book before the other students and then he'd be set.

Her thoughts still on when she could get a new wand, Caity glanced at her timetable and saw that she did indeed have several frees around lunchtime in two days time. She could go then, in that case. Tucking her timetable away, she waited for everyone else to finish so that Professor Sparrow would let them go. It didn’t take too long and soon she was speaking in a final dismissal.
"Alright students, I will be grading your samples, and handing out a graded sheet to you all at the beginning of the next class. She took a note of the homework on the back of her hand, not wanting to get out her pens and paper now she had packed it all away. Making a mental note not to wash the back of her hand until she had written it down somewhere else (which undoubtedly she would forget), she slung her bag over her shoulder and walked out of the now open dungeon door, smiling at a couple of people as she left. It wasn’t long until dinner, but perhaps she would have time to read another few pages of the book she had borrowed from the library. It had been lying on her bedside table, untouched for the last week and would need to be taken back soon. There were only a couple more chapters to go, and it was a very good story. She should be able to finish it in time. It was just a question of whether she’d remember to take it back once she was done with it. Heading up to the Hufflepuff common room en route to her dormitory, the mental note she had just made about homework had already been lost in the recesses of her mind.
