Gat was listening intently, taking notes when needed. Gat was reading through page 93 while trying to listen to the Professor.
[glow=red,2,300]“Any questions?”[/glow]
Gat raised his hand while in the barely recognizable corner. He did in fact have a question. The Acromantulas and Giants were a very interesting topic to him. It was strange as his hand was never normally in the air at all. In fact, not once had he ever been seen doing so since walking into Hogwarts itself. He waited to be ignored or chosen. Either way he did not really care. His eyes once again flashed a bright gree, un noticable to the students in front of him. Gat didn't even notice himself.

Noticing the immediate flicking through books and scribbling down of notes from the students, Alex had a pleased sort of look on his face. Seeing a hand raised in the corner, he arched his eyebrows slightly and nodded. “Yes, Mister Soldier?” he questioned, loud enough to surely be heard by Gat. His eyes scanned the remainder of the room as he waited for an answer, prepared to note any other raised hands. As his eyes roamed over the student body contained within his classroom, he wondered at the lack of participation this lesson. It did not go unnoticed that both Alessandro and Dylan were not here; perhaps they’d decided to avoid Gat altogether after their previous altercation within Defence Against the Dark Arts. Then again, surely it was not only them missing. If he recalled his table upon the board, there were nine students in total absent. Two prefects, in fact, were included within that total, along with a few students he had never met. Wondering if any more people would show up to his class, considering it had only just begun, he wondered if perhaps he would give out point deductions or not. Surely, he should, to be fair to everyone who had received a five point loss last lesson for tardiness; unless of course, they had a good reason to be late from his class.

Alessandro was completely unaware of the time as he had been meditating in the courtyard. He had let himself go completely, surrendering to his mental canvas, colors and shapes shifting before him. He suddenly had a strong feeling overcome him as if he was running late and the image of Professor Archer flashed in his mind.
His eyes flicked open instantly and he snatched up his bag and books around him, leaping up and breaking into a sprint for the castle. How could he have forgotten that Defense Against the Dark Arts was next on his class list? He did his best and sped through the corridors until he neared the classroom. He slowed down significantly and approached the door, taking a deep breath.
He opened the door and stepped into the classroom gingerly, turning his attention immediately to Professor Archer. "Professor...I err...Dreadfully sorry....It won't happen agai-" He stopped short as his eyes fell on Gat Soldier.
What the devil is he doin' here?? He thought wildly as he gaped in awe, frozen in place. His eyes ripped themselves away from the face of evil in human form and darted to the floor as he tried to regain himself.
He drew in a breath and quietly finished his sentence. "It won't happen again, sir." He moved to an empty seat at the front of the classroom, removing his books and glanced up at the board. He let out a sigh as he noticed they would be covering Acromantulas. He didn't quite fancy spiders, him being a touch arachniphobic. He did know a very useful spell against the Acro's of the Forbidden Forest, one that he had meant to practice but never found it in his strength of character to go up against one of the gigantic spiders that lurked in the heart of the Dark Woods. He instead practiced on small house spiders and such, at a distance, no less.
He realized that there had been several other students present in class, he had completely ignored all of them as he had been taken aback by the unwanted presence of Gat. He had not counted on him being in that class anymore, since their little tete a tete scored them all substantial point losses and a months worth of detention.

((OOC: Can we just assume Wyst has been in the class the whole time? My laptop broke and it's been hard for me to get to a computer to post)
Wysteria carefully noted the information that the professor relayed to the students. She knew from the syllabus that they might be discussing vampires...and she wasn't particularly excited about the idea. But so far the topic had not been discussed; she was hoping they might run out of time before it coould be brought up. True to form, however, she made sure to sit in the very back of the class. She was not going to risk being called on during this session.
Keaira had also chosen a position at the back of the class, perhaps hoping to avoid another dueling session. Jacques's hair still had some blue spikey-ness to it, which made Wyst chuckle a bit under her breath. It wasn't an unkind laugh, but she just thought the general appearance was amusing, one couldn't refute that. Alessandro was in the front being attentive as always, she thought with a small smirk. D'rorah looked tired and occupied as per usual...no doubt Dylan's attack was weighing heavily on her mind.

Caity grinned at Susan as she passed over some parchment. "Thanks. I'm always doing stuff like that. It's really annoying."
"Hujambo Caity, how are you?"[/color]
Goosebumps rose on her arms at his greeting and she would have groaned aloud had he not been there. She had hoped that the nervous feeling she had felt in his presence at the ball was just because she was uncomfortable not seeing his face, but apparently not. She made a mental note to go up to the owlery at some point to think, alone. There usually weren't many people there. She was almost glad it was cold today; that had convinced her to put on a jumper before leaving the dormitory today, so neither Jacques nor Susan would see her sudden discomfort.
"Mubarak," she replied to Jacques. It seemed to be their customary greeting now; him in Swahili and she in Hindi. "I'm good thanks, apart from the forgotten parchment."
Turning to look at what the topics would be for today, she almost groaned again. Acromantulas. One of her least favourite creatures of all time - spiders on their own were bad enough, so who thought of creating giant, magical ones who could talk? She was not having a good day so far. Forgetting parchment, nervous around Jacques and now this! More blue dust floated from his head, managing to bring a smile to her face. Perhaps her day could improve slightly. Giants weren't so bad after all, she reminded herself as she flicked to the pages requested, and she was sure they wouldn't be getting any first hand experience of acromantulas. Then again...
Caity cast a quick glance up at the professor as he asked for questions. You never knew at Hogwarts.

((OoC: Alright Wyst, that’s fine, glad to have you back!))
His attention being diverted from the impending question, he found someone who had proven himself to be quite adept at this subject in the previous lesson now choosing to enter his classroom late. “Mister Darko, as sorry as you might be, and as low as your house points currently stand, I’m afraid they’re going to lose another five,” he commented lightly, watching as he took a seat. Alessandro had clearly not failed to notice Gat, and Alex had far from missed the reaction. Nodding to Darko, his eyes continued about the class. He noticed a few quills still scratching away on parchment, something that made him slightly happier after the entrance of another tardy student. He almost felt sorry for Ravenclaw and their severe lack of points. While no-one in their right mind could call him biased, he certainly would have felt a lot worse for them had he not been a Hufflepuff himself.
Wondering where the rest of his class was and why they had either decided to forgo this lesson or simply forgotten what their timetable looked like, his eyes reverted back to Gat in the back row. Surely, one could not forget? It was a seasonable way through the term and while he might expect a few of the lower years to still be getting lost, his class was comprised of only third years and above. Slightly discontent about the numbers for today, he expressed it through neither facial expressions nor gestures or stance; in fact, he didn’t express it at all.

Caz looked at the pages about both creatures, and couldn't wait to hear more about how to handle yourself should you encounter either one, more concerned with the Acromantulas.
Caz could feel tension and stress so thick in the room it he could have cut it with a knife. What is going on? Is there something I'm missing? As he noticed the harsh looks from a couple of people when they looked at the Slytherin boy. Caz looked around with a puzzled look on his face.
Making sure the professor wasn't looking, he quickly looked at Jacques, the only person who he had a good encounter with and mouthed the words "Whats going on? Everyone seems so up tight." to Jacques. Hopefully he could get some kind of answer.

Jacques raised his head ever so slightly, allowing him to read his book without waving his hair around like a spikey blue banner. Acromantulas, He thought, slightly excited. As crazy as it might seem to someone else, he rather liked the giant, talking spiders. They were interesting, different, dangerous. He hoped to meet one oneday. He grinned at Caitlin, remembering the greeting now that they used, and felt the same odd pang he had felt at the dances. I vanished as he started reading, but before it went away, he decided he would go out to the lake again, think it over.
Glancing up, he saw Caz looking at him. Reading his lips, he tilted his head over so slightly, frowning slightly, drawing his eyesbrows together, as well as crinkling his whisker like scars. Now that he tought about it, he could sense a sort of..strained feeling in the air around them. "I don't know..I think something happened before." He mouthed back, precocupide.

Caz watched as Jacques mouthed the words back to him. Caz wondered what could have happened. No doubt it had to do with a Slytherin. They were always the cause of trouble it seemed. Caz knew that his dislike of the house members wouldn't foster a friendship with Susan, but he wasn't going to ignore his insticts just to be friends with one person. He did hope that Susan would come to her senses before it was too late. Caz mouthed the words "Ok, thanks." To Jacques and gave him a smile and a wink.
Shrugging his shoulders, he decided to focus more on the lesson rather than the tension in the class. Caz studied the pages and took notes, while waiting for the professor to continue the lesson.

Susan who was sitting next to Jacques, heard perfectly clear when Caz turned around to silently ask his question. She had been busy flipping through the pages of her text, but had paused briefly to catch the conversation. With the distraction of Alessandro's entrance and Gat's question, Susan glanced quickly to Professor Archer. Even as a Gryffindor, Susan was a little sad to hear that even more points would be taken from Ravenclaw. They sure had a while to go before they would be catching up to the rest of the houses. . .
Susan took the distraction. Even though it stung, the way Caz had totally ignored her presence, Susan couldn't stand being on bad terms with people, especially those of her own house.
"Caz," she whispered, to get his attention as he began to turn around again. She leaned forward over the desk, positioning herself so that Jacques and Caitlin could listen too if they chose. "Last class there was a duel between Gat and Alessandro, it was pretty rough." She paused, she wasn't sure if she should continue. Alessandro had chosen a seat not too far from them and she didn't want to offend him with her gossip. She had to cure Caz's ignorance though. With a small crease of a smile at the corner of her mouth, Susan continued flipping through the pages of her text, as if nothing had happened.

Gat was about to ask the question when Darko came bursting through the door. Anger filled Gat and his eyes glowed a bright green. He absolutely wished he still had his wand. Then everyone seemed to burst out talking. No one was paying attention any longer.
"Professor, have you had any previous experience with an acromantula?" He asked somewhat politely, actually forgetting his actual question with the commotion and the arrival of the somewhat late student. The main problem was at that moment, even Gat's interest seemed to wear thinner. 'Some people just don't know when to shut up.' He thought to himself....(pause)...thoughtfully.

Not failing to notice a series of murmurings upon the entrance of Alessandro, he was just about to direct Gat to stop holding up the class when he finally spoke once more. Unhappy that the Slytherin had both extended his response out about as much as possible and then proceeded to make disruptive and largely insignificant questions, he held an angry expression upon his face. Given that he had also been the main cause of disruption in the previous lesson, his tolerance for the boy was very limited. “Yes, Mister Soldier, I have. And I will thank you to refrain from disrupting my class with pointless interruptions any further. If you have any queries not immediately regarding the actual teaching of this lesson, you may speak to me after class and stop wasting everyone else’s time,” he said curtly, effectively dismissing the boy and returning his attention to the rest of the class.
“So, as well as the Conjunctivitis Curse, there are a few other spells that may be useful against an Acromantula. If we expand on our previous lesson, there is a specific form of Revulsion Jinx you can use against them. The details of this jinx are on page one hundred and thirteen, for those of you who weren’t present last lesson,” he continued, his tone slightly less energetic and bouncy than it had been previously. Disliking the fact that Gat had been allowed by the Headmistress to remain in his class, he continued. “If you would like to pair up and practice each curse against each other, please…” With a flick of his wand, there appeared first one and then another incantation inbetween the two titles already present on the board; though slightly below them. ‘Visum Impedimenta’ and ‘Defendo Duodeviginti Cruros’ appeared, the first beneath the subtitle ‘Conjunctivitis Curse’ and the second beneath ‘Arachnid Revulsion Jinx’. “We use this specific Revulsion Jinx simply because it is more effective when it’s designed to target a specific creature. Due to its specific targeting of arachnids, and hence Acromantula, it is more effective against them than a normal Revulsion Jinx would be,” he explained, loud enough for the entire class to hear.

Twice in a row. This was not good. Not good at all. He had managed to earn back the five points he'd lost in the last Defense lesson simply by being on time to potions, but it was looking as though he were about to lose them all over again. Oversleeping couldn't be held responsible for his tardiness a second time however. Jason had been awake, though perhaps not fully conscious. He'd been working on his Ancient Runes homework but had stopped and just sat there in the Gryffindor common room thinking for who knows how long. A strange feeling came over him, like something was missing. Not a clue what.
When he looked at the time he realized he was late for Defense Against the Dark Arts for the second time consecutively and that Professor Archer, if in fact the man was still running the class, was not terribly likely to let it slide. Oddly, Jason found he didn't overly care. It just didn't seem important. He rose anyway and packed his bag then headed down Gryffindor Tower to the third floor and toward the proper classroom. He wasn't running this time and there was no great clamorous entrance. Jason simply trudged through the door, not trying particularly to be quiet and sat in the nearest seat in back, offering the professor nothing more than an apologetic grimace and shrug. He wondered if an explanation would be demanded of him, but again, didn't much care. He pulled out the class' text and flipped through it looking for information on giants as that seemed the subject that was intended for the younger students. He decided to read up on the spiders as well though, since he really wasn't sure which half of the school's age range he would be considered.

D’rorah listened to the Professor’s admonishment of Gat for wasting his time with a pointless question. Indeed, it truly was a pointless question. Even Gat would not have possibly been so stupid as to purposely waste time for such a thing. She wondered what had happened. Certainly, his newfound scar was the remnant of some damage he had received while on a mission of some sort for the Shadow Mage. Her mind was hard at work trying to figure out exactly what might have caused it… and whether it was something she would need to work to counteract. She made up her mind to follow him after class to see if she might be able to discern what had happened to him and whether it would have any effect on the Lightfighters.
She penned out notes on the Professor’s lecture, intending to add them to her class notebooks for review later. At the instruction to pair up for practicing the jinx and counter jinx, she looked around. She wasn’t entirely certain whom she should pair up with and allowed her eyes to roam around for a moment, hoping to fall upon a suitable partner.

“Alright, Mister Cruz, please don’t make a habit of this,” he said, thanking the less-than-dramatic entrance that he had brought with him last lesson. “Five points from Gryffindor,” he added lightly, noting it down. “Alright, come on, pair up please, the hour’s moving on,” he prompted once more, seeing a slight lack of action from the students. “I’m sure you’re all old enough to be trusted to do so yourself. Mister Soldier will be the only one unable to perform magic in class,” he added, not bothering to address Gat directly. Quite frankly, he was all for expelling the boy, but Caira had mentioned otherwise. Slightly put out that the Slytherin had been allowed to continue within his class, he resented the trouble he was sure to cause every lesson. Despite his lack of a wand, he could still disrupt the flow of the class.
