A long sigh escaped Lei’s lips as she entered the Hufflepuff common room. She had been late to two classes already, it was such a little thing to bring her down, but it was bringing her down all the same. Getting into the swing of things had become more difficult than she had thought.
The common room had a warm glow this late at night. The fire was alight and beckoning to her, under a large picture of the founder of the house. She gazed up at the portrait that was fast asleep. All was quiet except for the dull snore that emitted from it’s mouth. Leilani was drawn to a fading yellow couch in front of the sofa. Sinking into the seat, she brought out her wand, and held into the air.
A light blue light flowed from the tip and began tracing out her name with every direction she pointed it. Dreamless sleep had brought her to the common room so late at night. Maybe now, with no sleep, she’d be able to get to classes on time

Kylo slipped into the room, stifling a yawn, and slung his backsack over the arm of a stiff wooden chair that rested by a table. And he blinked. Leilani Mejia Was written in blue..stuff in every direction. What was more confusing was that to him, the blue flashed a different color in his minds eye. For a second, it was alarming, and he atomaticly looked at his toes. "Having fun?" He commented, glancing at her for a heartbeat. She looked tired, and a little down, as if she had had a bad day.

The light blue writing was engulfing the room. Each time the hand writing was a little different. A small yawn escaped her mouth. No! Can’t sleep yet! Must… stay… awake. Her eyes began to lightly flutter shut. In her half awake half asleep, she heard someone climbing down the stairs and into her midst. Unsure if it was a dream or reality she still let her wand hand trace her name in the air.
She felt the presence come closer and closer until it was right over her. At the comment, eyes still closed, she let a smile cross her face, “Well, if you call being alone all that fun,” she said softly, continuing to keep her eyes shut. “How does the room look, is it filled yet?” she asked, the boy.

The blue light in question was now almost completely filled the room, and would make a normal person maybe slightly dizzy. But Kylo was seeing so many colors in his minds eye, the color of her name, of the letters, that he decided to examin his fingure nails, which, fortunitly, had no blue names.
"More then you could imagen," He said softly, a slight smile on his face from her words. "Alone for a reason? Or just do not want to face the bed?"

Opening her eyes, Leilani sat up to see that almost the whole room was filled with her name. “Much better,” she said softly, feeling the need to whisper, since everyone else was asleep. But right when she put her wand hand down everything slowly shimmered away and slowly back into the tip of her wand. Leilani now turned to face the student that had come to “visit” her. “I should be asking you the same question Mr. …,” she paused, sizing up the student. She had never seen him before until now, and he talked to her with such ease it surprised her. It couldn’t have been Jason, on the count of he was inhabiting the Gryffindor house.
“I’m just fighting sleep, so I won’t be late for anymore classes,” she let out a small guffaw, it was such a childish thing to do. “I guess I’m sort of pulling an all tighter,” Leilani sighed.

"Uh..it's Kylo, and I suppose your Leilani?" His voice was quiet, and he blushed as he looked at his feet, colors swimming beofre his eyes. "So..you plan to sleep through your classes, but not be late?" He joked, a sprinkle of laughtor to it. The older girl was smaller then he was, and she was slender. He tried to smile, but his scar twisted it into a quizzical grin, and he stopped right away.

“Nice to meet you, Kylo,” Leilani smiled, extending her hand in a welcoming gesture. Her voice was soft and velvety from lack of sleep, but she wasn’t in the least bit tired; it tended to do this late at night into early morning. “Yes, if you haven’t already figured out, I’m Leilani Mejia,” she said with a grin.
Leilani joined in his laughter, “I’d have never thought of that,” she said cocking her head to the side. “I suppose you’re right.” She paused a moment, a mischievous grin now taking over her face, “Unless you’re trying to make me go to sleep, so you can have the common room all to yourself.” Leilani narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, trying to contain her laughter.

Kylo put a hand over his heart and gave her a mock indigant look. "I'd never think of doing that!" He said, containing his amusment, and shook her hand. Seeing a light of mischoff turn on in her eyes, he gave a small smile, and said innocantly, "Yah know, it must be boring just sitting there drawing...I'm sure there..things we could come up with." Her laughtor as a light, sun-flower yellow with a plum purple swiggle. It was pretty, and seemed to fit her voice.

Lei’s eyes became even brighter as he played along with her little joke. She stretched her arms in front of her; she had become quite stiff in her laying down position. As comfortable as the armchairs looked, they were very stiff. “That’s just things I do when I’m bored, or when I’m about to fall asleep,” she said referring to her wand that now sat beside her.
Gazing into the fire she wondered what time it was. It wasn’t that late, she had just lain down when Kylo appeared… or had she been sleeping before and not even noticed. She turned her head to Kylo’s new statement and milled it over in her mind for a second.
Tilting her head to the side she let out another smirk, “If I didn’t know any better Mr. Kylo, you were trying to imply something,” she wiggled her eyebrows up and down. “What do you suggest we do, since this is too monotonous a thing for you to do?” she laughed.

He gave a small laugh to, and smiled for a second, before his scar again twisted it into a quizzical grin, and pretended to look both left and right, and then said conspirittorilaly, "Well..the common room quite boring, and I'm sure there are many more things to do out side of it.." He raised an eye brow and wriggled it.
It was probably around 11, maybe 12 or even 1 in the morning, he hadn't bothered to check once he got back from his friend's detention. He shrugged of his jacket and hung it over the arm of a chair, and then took off his hat, which was a lime green winter hat, with the logo, 'Life is good' On it.

Leilani contemplated his suggestion. She needed a little adventure in her life. Her stomach grumbled a little out of hunger. Had she not eaten all day? The stress was really getting to her then, since Leilani could most definitely eat her weight in food. “Hmmm…,” she though quietly, weighing the possibilities.
She watched Kylo, begin to remove his traveling things. His hat made her smile, “And where, may I ask, did you get that hat? It doesn’t look like anything that would come from a wizarding store.” She gazed intently at it, at its saying, and its lime green color.
“And why are you removing your things?” Leilani asked, putting a confused expression on her face. “You just said that the common room is quite boring,” she paused, “I say we move our little conversation to a place more likely to fit your interests,” Leilani whispered, glancing up at the painting just to see if it was listening. To her joy, it was still napping in its same position. Just then, her stomach let out another growl, “I think we should go to the kitchen, unless you have any sort of objection?” she smiled.

He considered for a second, then hearing her stomache growl, he said quickly, "That sound delightful" He gave a small laugh, for her stomache rumbles had made red and orange spots, sandy in texture, appear before his eyes. Thinking she might find this strange, he stopped and said in a mock grave voice, "Ah, the kitchens are nice and warm, but waiting outside for an hour is not." He gave his quizzical grin, and pulled back on his hat.
"No indeed, not something I got at a wizerding store. Tell me, have you heard of the shop, 'life is good?' before?" It was his favorite hat, and he even wore it in the summer, when it was 90 degrees out. His sister had given it to him when she had visited America, and he had worn it ever sense, content with the logo.

Leilani had been drawn in by his eyes, noticing that little spots had formed. Shaking herself out of it, knowing that she had been staring, she pretended to gaze at a spot behind his head. Leilani tilted her head to the side in confusion, “We’d have to wait outside? Sorry, I’ve never been to the kitchens here before. It’s my first year here actually,” she said quite embarrassed.
Continuing to look at the hat, she thought hard, “No I really don’t think I’ve heard of the store. However, I’ve heard of the saying.”

"No, sorry, the kitchens are quite warm, I mean that before I came in hear I was outside. Thats quiet fine," He said kindly, "This is my fifth year. Really? I'd check it out, they started making t-shirts at a highschool, but now they are, like, almost million airs or something." he blushed at her gaze and looked at his feet, think of somehing to say. "You have a colorful laugh." He said absent mindedly.
Realizing what he had said, he blushed, furious at himself. Now he sounded completely insane, but to him, her laugh was colorful. Inwardly he cursed his synesthesia. Why do I always have tomake a bloody fool of myself! He thought, and trying to change the subject, said, "Should we go?"

Curious, Leilani asked, “Outside? At this hour? Why?” She giggled inwardly at the many questions flooding out of her mouth. Her lack of sleep was starting to get to her, she was beginning to run on pure adrenaline. “O, well, this is my 6th year. It’s just, I was being home schooled more than half of the years I should’ve been here,” she said with a shrug.
Leilani listened intently, she had heard of things like that happening in muggle high schools. She wished she could be that creative, she thought enviously.
A bemused look danced across Lei’s face, “Colorful?” she repeated. “So does that mean my laughter is manic or cute?” Leilani teased. “I think you owe me an explanation, Kylo.”
Leilani looked to the portrait hole door, seeming to decide something in her mind. Turning back to Kylo she looked questioningly, “I don’t know, should we? I mean to adventuresome Hufflepuff, sneaking down dark passages, escaping teacher’s grasps, in the dead of night. Does that not sound dangerous to you?” The more she described it, the more she wanted to pick up and go.
