Wysteria wasn't very happy with the fact that Professor Choi hadn't been thrilled with her work, but Wyst was determined to make up for it in her subsequent assignments. The large booklet set before her did seem a bit daunting though; it was longer than anything she'd worked with before, which meant more complicated translations. She looked over the note Zane had written her, and was about to respond when Janet clapped her hands and more or less ended their class. She felt like something was beginning to slip away before she could figure out what it was. She thought briefly about blurting something out to him as he was leaving, but decided that discretion was necessary in this instance.
Wyst gathered up her belongings and headed out of the classroom, walking briskly in order to keep up with Zee. She tugged on his elbow to get him to turn around and said in a somewhat breathless voice, "I know that you didn't mean to upset me. I wasn't really mad, but...umm...I'll see you around." Wyst looked into his eyes for a few very long seconds before she turned on the spot and headed back toward the hallway. She felt better as she walked away, like her emotions were finally being reigned in, catalogued, used properly. At one point she stopped, and considered saying something more. But that would be self-indulgent for a pipe dream that didn't fit with her. Either way, she knew that if she ever wanted to see him again, there was always the Tower.

D'rorah's jaw clenched slightly as Professor Choi pointed out a mistake in her translation. Languages were one of her passions, and having incorrectly translated even something as easily mistaken as a verb conjugation irritated her immensely. After all, mistakes were completely inexcusable in the translation work she was doing for the lightfighters. Of course, she reasoned, she had had limited time in class to go back and check through her work. And the runic languages were far more complex than any other languages, especially when there were so many layers to shift through. She showed no acknowledgment of the humor in the dirty joke, maintaining her stoic facial expression. She accepted the criticism with a terse nod, already berating herself internally for that carelessness.
Gathering her things and her homework assignment, she closed her satchel and headed out of the room without a word to any of her fellow students, bound for the library to fill the space between now and her next class.

Hearing a sharp clapping of hands, he raised his head in alarm, only to find that class was more-or-less over. My, my, where had the time gone? Receiving the booklet handed out by the professor, he slumped from his seat, finding that his plan of absorbing material had been quite useless for this particular lesson. Swinging his backpack over one shoulder, he grabbed his blank classwork in addition to the homework assignment in his hands and trod toward Professor Choi's desk solemnly.
He didn't believe for a moment that she would be happy about his obvious lack of motivation and work for the class. Having met her properly only once before, he knew that he hadn't made a particularly good impression, but could only hope for the part of him that would care some time in the future that she would attribute it to the death of his foster father and perhaps cut him some slack. His hopes weren't high, however.
Normally he would have waited for as many students as possible to depart, but today he couldn't really care less what they heard. "Professor, you wanted to see me?" he asked in a barely audible voice, managing somehow to produce a vague show of manners. Standing absentmindedly beside Janet, his eyes managed to take in absolutely none of his surrounds; he was completely unaware and uncaring about how many students were still lingering, collecting their things together and such, completely unaware of anything excepting the tumultuous thoughts residing in his mind and the imminent threat of punishment.
(( OoC: Sorry, I guess I didn't read it properly. All modified now! ))

Kerridon listened dispassionately to Professor Choi's assessment of his work. Technically, it should have been his and Mister Broken's work together, but he had never been much of a team player and had stayed silent for most of the lesson, doing the assignment alone with a few comments to the Gryffindor along the way. Many of his classmates seemed to be disappointed with the overall judgement the teacher had given them, and Kerridon himself was no exception. The mistakes he'd made were silly; things he should have known not to do. That was what came of going to school and learning with other students in a classroom - you became distracted by those around you. He much preferred working alone in silence. He was fairly sure the hefty homework she had given them would get better marks than any classwork he would do in the next year, simply because he could work on it in his own way and time. Without hesitation he began to pack up his things when she announced the end of the lesson. He would be heading straight to the library to start the homework and maybe continue with his own research. ((Dee, I'd like to start a thread in the library but I need permission to god-mod you already being there - pretty please?

"Now, let's see what you've done with the work I've given you. This was all just practice of course, I will not be grading these."
Alessandro eagerly placed his parchment toward the center of the table, anticipating the review of his work. He didn't think he did all that badly at the translation. His piece was a translation of a young girls diary who wrote about her father. He watched as Professor Choi picked up their papers and quickly scanned them, eyes darting back and forth.
"Alessandro...Susan...Dylan...not bad, but each of you has unfortunately sloppy work. You're not nearly as proficient with the flow of Elder Futhark or Latin as I would like, and the Etruscan is a disaster."
His jaw dropped at these sour comments. After she had moved onto passing judgment over D'rorah's work, he was able to shut his mouth. He scowled as he had let the comments process. He didn't like being called out like that, especially after he had worked so diligently on his translation. After Choi had tossed them a smaller version of the NEWT booklet, for the OWL level, he crammed it into his side bag, along with the rest of his miscellaneous items; parchment, ink, quills, textbooks, and rose from his seat.
He was a little bit annoyed with how the first class had played out, but that didn't hinder him from wanting to return. He could get used to Professor Choi's style of teaching, the no-nonsense, get-to-the-point, and somewhat harsh method. He knew that he would have to take a page out of Charles Darwin's book if he were to be fit for survival in Ancient Runes. He gave quick shake of his head to his fellow fifth years, which mirrored his disappointment in his review, before he made his way out of the room quickly. His next class would be History Of Magic, and he was eager to see what lay ahead for him there.

Susan wasn't at all surprised at the review of her work. It was true that Susan hadn't been studying over the summer, and her previous teachers were no where near as efficient as Professor Choi. Susan took the book handed to her and her fellow fifth years. It, scarily enough, looked very similar to the NEWT handbook. Susan held the book for a moment, and realized her hands were shaking. She quickly put the book into her back before anyone could notice how nervous the aspect of the upcoming OWL exams made her. Because Susan had not decided what she wanted to do with her life after she got out o school, she figured she'd dabble in everything, just in case.
With the weight of the Ancient Runes book on her hands, she had a feeling she would not be continuing in Ancient Runes for NEWTs. If she wanted to, it would take a lot of work and commitment. As the book was slipped into her bag with the rest of her things, Susan breathed heavily, releasing her stress.
She nodded to Alessandro, barely aware of the fact that he was upset and leaving. Susan stood up after Alessandro with all of her things in tow. "Bye Dylan," she said warmly, sincerely hoping things would be better soon. With that, Susan left the Ancients Runes class and headed off to the next class on her schedule.
