(That is what I look like now) Mordred appeared in the middle of Hogsmeade. It was a busy day and students were scurrying about, trying to get some last minute gifts for the holidays. This allowed him to slip in unnoticed. He smiled at the thought of this place burning to the ground soon. Mordred stood there a few more moments, wondering if anyone would recognize him. No one did. The wraith inside of him smiled, the body had changed more than hoped for. He wasn't a fool though, he knew someone would recognize him. Most likely the troublesome girl that kept interfering. Mordred drew his wand and pointed it up at the sky, it was beginning to get dark and the sign would stick out very easily. He muttered the incantation and a white jet of light shot from the tip of his wand and exploded in the sky. It didn't take long for the familiar skull to form, followed by a dark, twisted phoenix flying about it. A scream erupted over the busy noise of students rushing in and out of stores, followed by a crash of whatever item she had held in her possession. Mordred's eyes darted to the girl who had screamed, and a smile crossed his face. Then, four clouds of smoke erupted around him as four of his brethren appeared beside him. They had orders not to do anything unless something went wrong.

Caity wandered through the streets of Hogsmeade, clutching several bags and her purse considerably lighter than it had been this morning. It seemed that even the Wizarding World had january sales, and the streets were packed with students and other magic folk, all of whom were trying to snatch up the best bargain they could. It had been a pleasant day and she was nearly ready to head back to Hogwarts - there was a Potions assignment that needed doing for after the holidays. Staring up at the sky as she walked, she could see the moon begin to appear. She'd always found it strange when it did that in daylight, and now was no exception. She was in prime position to see the spell shoot up to form a variety of the mark she had seen only in books but come to dread - the Dark Mark. Except instead of a snake, this one had a phoenix.
She let out a cry as one of the bags slipped out of her now clammy hands and dropped to the floor, smashing the ornament she had bought for her mum's birthday in a few weeks. About to bend down to retrieve it before it was trodden on and broken even more, she caught the eye of a white-haired man staring at her. He was smiling! Caitlin knew with a sudden certainty that he must have been the one to cast this spell. Unable to break his gaze, her eyes widened when four of the shadow creatures she had seen in the forest appeared around him.
Her mother's present forgotten completely, Cait backed away, oblivious to the panicking people surrounding her. She didn't want to be anywhere near those things again, but it looked as though she wasn't having much luck with that. Drawing her wand from her back pocket, she tried to summon a happy memory. Flying over Hyderabad on a magic carpet.
"Expecto Patronum!" she attempted to shout, although it came out as more of a squeak. A flickering elephant came out of her wand, but it did little to nothing against the creatures. Rememering what Dylan had told her, she banished it before it used up any more of her limited power. Her mind went back to that night in the forest, when Keaira had used that chanting. Would that work now? Not that it mattered, Caity realised with despair. Keaira had told them it was dangerous to use, and she couldn't remember the words anyway - they had been in another language she hadn't understood.
Still backed against the shop, Caitlin glanced around. Was anyone here who could help? Surely this fell under the realm of the "club" described by Susan, who fought against the darkness that had invaded their forest?

D'rorah had been out in Hogsmeade making her final preparations to head back to Hogwarts for the day, when she had seen a sympol imprinted on the air with all the vengeance of a fire burning through a peaceful forest. And then, not too long after, the silvery flash of patronus light. Dylan wasn't too far away, but she didn't want to bring him into the battle in his weakened state. As she approached she saw a familiar figure, along with four creatures of the Shadow Realm. Her eyes widened in shock as she realized that the lead of the group was Mordred. Oh, his appearance had changed a bit... but... well, it wasn't exactly him. It was his form, certainly, but not his mind. Noticing Caitlin, who she remembered vaguely as having been the one to assist Kylo Riddle after a tragic show of idiocy involving the Whomping Willow, and assumed she had been the one to conjure the patronus, she moved to stand between the two.
She was careful to keep her stance neutral, waiting to see what they had come to do. "So Professor Kade, it seems you have returned to Hogwarts... part of you, anyway," she remarked, raising her voice so he could hear it clearly. "And have you now made new acquaintances? Pray tell, who might they be?" All the time she spoke, the words of a chant were at the back of her mouth, waiting for the least sign of provocation to spring forth in response to any attack by Professor Kade or those who accompanied them. It turns out her theory was true... he had indeed been killed by the Mage. And now, now his body was housing some sort of dark creature. She could almost feel its disdainful malevolence radiating through the street.

Mordred's smile quickly turned to disgust as D'rorah stepped into his view. The girl had been nothing but trouble since she arrived. If not for her, none of these kids would know anything about the elements. Mordred's mind darted back to the present, eying Miss Philosophy. She had grown stronger in the past few months and her mind was very strong willed, much stronger than anyone else at this school.
Mordred bowed to D'rorah and returned to his position. "I have not come to fight... today. I have come to begin this war we are all about to embark on." Mordred stared at D'rorah, she was ready to make a move any second. "I've come to get a few followers..." Mordred stopped and raised his voice so it could be heard throughout the crowd. "ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN THE WINNING SIDE AND FIGHT ALONG SONG THE SHADOW MAGE HERSELF, SHOW YOURSELF AND STAND BESIDE ME!!"

D'rorah did not attack, but instead called upon the power of the Elements, bathing herself in a swath of light and raising her hands to her sides. "And all who wish to maintain our world in the necessary balance of Light and Dark, who do not wish to see it corrupted and destroyed, join me!" By this point, secrecy was certainly no longer an issue at all. "All who follow Darkness will eventually die at the Mage's hand! This... man promises the glory of lies and broken promises for a flickering moment of power!"
She faced Mordred, her eyes narrowing to a gaze of shrewd discernment as a slight breeze stirred the air around her. Never would she be able to command the wind as an Elemental Master, but she had some small hold of it. And calling forth the light as she had would summon the other Shadow Warriors and Elemental Masters wherever they might be. Not to mention that it was a glorious effect, clearly showcasing the difference between Light and Dark as she stood there before Mordred. He knew as well as she did that she would fight like the hounds of hell to victory or death. And finally, she realized that all along this had been the way to find the other Shadow Warriors and Lightfighters... and that she wasn't quite sure how she had known to do it, calling for Elemental Light so that it danced about her in a shimmering spectacle of pure white light fringed by the separate colors of each of the five elements... yellow for earth, red for fire, blue for water, green for metal, and strongest of all the swirling colors was the silver of the wind.

Caitlin recognised the imposing Ravenclaw prefect who came forward, from when Kylo had had a little crash with the Whomping Willow, but was more than a little startled when D'rorah adressed the man as 'Professor Kade'. This was the old Defence Aginst the Dark Arts teacher, who'd left just before she joined Hogwarts? No wonder there were rumours that he'd been sacked if this was what he was like!
As the man - 'Professor Kade' - began his rant on darkness and a 'Shadow Mage', Caity kept an eye on D'rorah. While she was sure that the other girl could protect herself, she wanted to be ready to pull her out of harm's way if the worst did happen. After all, that other fellow seemed quite mad, with his white hair and shouting for followers. And a war? Was the situation really so dire as to be classed as a war? Shuddering as she remembered the books she'd read on the two wars with Voldemort, she listened to what D'rorah would say in reply.
She gazed up in utter shock at the light D'rorah had conjured. Her feet found their way forward of their own accord, and she stared, mesmerised by the blue streaks in the ball of light while standing next to the prefect. She had no idea what was happening, but she didn't actually mind... She was on the right side of this war, because, if you had any sense at all, "lies and broken promises" were not all that appealing. Neither were shadow creatures, for that matter.

Susan was pushed out of a busy store with a group of people. For a moment she fought to remain on the inside, but stopped when she saw what the commotion was about. People scurried this way and that attempting to escape. Susan stopped and looked to the sky in time to see a menacing image of a skull and phoenix. Though the symbol was unfamiliar to her, she had almost no doubt to what it meant. Her breath caught in her chest and her heart beat quickened. It seemed the "something" she'd been dreading all along had finally happened, or was about to.
Before she had the chance to properly gather herself, she was shoved and pushed by many people trying to leave as soon as humanly possible. Because Susan seemed to be the only one within a twenty foot radius that was standing still, she was considered an awful impediment to be shoved and cursed at. She quite rudely managed to push her way into an alley. A place where she could catch her breath, not be shoved by the frightened passersby, but also where the mark in the sky was still visible.
Fear gripped her even as her breathing managed return to normal. She didn't know what to do. Who was to be told? Where was she to go? A moment later, a flash of colored lights were sent into the air, almost directly beneath the horrible mark. The yellow light caught her eye, and she was drawn to it. Susan desperately made her way along the back ways of Hogsmeade, all the while getting closer to the looming mark.
As Susan reached the clearing a coldness swept over her. The dark creatures from the Forest were the first beings she noticed. After steadying herself, she recognized D'rorah and Caitlin. The man on the opposite side of D'rorah was familiar, but menacing all the same. Susan gripped her wand tightly as she cautiously approached D'rorah. She was prepared to perform a patronus should the cold creatures dare to venture any closer.
Susan licked her lips wearily, and wished that her palms would stop sweating. She wanting to make a greeting of some sort, but wasn't sure what to say. It went without saying why they were here. Susan sort of nodded toward D'rorah and sent a noncommittal shrug out to Caitlin. Susan returned her gaze to the man who'd seemingly conjured the Dark Mark in the Sky. Susan tried to put a name to the face that she couldn't shake the feeling that she knew.

Mordred stood in his his eyes darted back and forth from the three who had seemed to gather in front of him. He chuckled inside at the thought of the three fighting him. D'rorah might give him more trouble than he needs and after all, he only came here to gather a few followers. Mordred eye caught the hand of one of the girls, she clutched a wand in her hand. His then remembered the girl who had tried to cast a patronus.
Mordred raised one of his hands and pointed his fingers at her hand and they began to pry open, releasing the wand. Mordred released his hold on her hands and levitated the wand in front of her. He then repeated this to the other girl. "There will be no need for this... I didn't come here to fight." Mordred moved his hands and formed a grip, causing the two wands to break in half and fall to the floor.
Mordred looked towards D'rorah, she was beginning to summon her element. "D'rorah.. Dee... can't we do this the easy way... I really don't wan to fight." The voice sounded exactly like Professor Kade's, the man who's body he had taken control of.

Susan struggled as the man grabbed hold her her wrist. She resisted the urge to scream at the pain at which he pried at her fingers. Soon both her's and Caitlin's wands were out of reach. Susan reached forward to grab the wands that the man held between them. The sharp crack that indicated that the thin pieces of wood had been broken echoed in Susan's head. She suddenly felt very vulnerable. Susan instinctively took a step closer to D'rorah. She clenched her fists together. It had been awhile since she'd last practiced her forms, but they were still fresh in her mind. She would fight if it came to it.
At the sound of the plea towards D'rorah, Susan recognized the man before them. "Professor Kade?" Susan half whispered. Her previous Head of House and Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher . . . This couldn't be him. Yet the voice was creepy in the resemblance. Susan flexed her fingers nervously. She looked to D'rorah, waiting for her response. What would she say to this man? Did she dare draw her wand as well? Susan nervously cast a glance at Caitlin, while she wasn't a Lightfighter as far as she could tell, she knew she was at least an ally. With the thought of the others fresh in her mind, she inconspicuously surveyed the surroundings searcing for the others.

D'rorah watched as this thing which so resembled Professor Kade took the wands from Caitlin and Susan. She made no move to stop him, watching as he broke the wands in a useless display of his own power. She arched her eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. She gave each of the girls a look that clearly said that there wands were no concern. Wand magic had no effect against Shadows. Even the most well-conjured patronus would do little to even hold a Shadow back, unless it was too weak to be much bother anyway. "Oh there is no doubt you came to fight," she replied quietly, so that anyone watching would have had to strain to hear. "Perhaps you do not intend to fight here, but you seem to believe you can intimidate me. That of all things is proof that you are not truly Professor Kade. He knows me too well to allow such a ridiculous thought into his mind."
And then, it sounded as though this... this thing thought it could trip her up, make her think it was actually Mordred. Her eyes narrowed with distaste and she stepped forward, her voice a low, spiteful sound. "There is to be no easy way. Move to attack and I will show you just what you face here today. Or, leave now and we will find you later. None of us will sit idly by while our realm is destroyed." She drew herself in, not chanting, but summoning more Elemental energy from her surroundings, causing the blaze of light around her to grow. Her wand, still safely tucked inside her robes was of no use to her in the battle to come. She would fight as a Shadow Warrior... something she had spent a great deal of her life training to do. Poised to return any blow sent her way, she waited for Mordred's response... or rather, the response of the thing that currently inhabited the shell that had been his body.

Mallan was in need of some quills. He was tired of just using the pencils that he had taken from home. They were so boring and seeing all the students with a multitude of different quills he finally gave in and decided that he needed to get a few himself. Upon entering Hogsmeade he was surprised to find a commotion and a rather large commotion at that. There were people running around everywhere. Curiosity formed in Mallan but he saw nothing that would help satiate it so he continued towards Scrivenshaft’s Quill Shop. As he worked his way down the road he felt a surge of power, looking around he saw nothing until he saw a kid point to the sky. In the sky was a menacing image of a skull and a phoenix. His curiosity grew and now he had a direction to head. Mallan made his way through the frightened crowds heading towards the center of town to which he thought the image of the skull and phoenix rested above. The nearer he drew to the image the more he felt of that strange energy. He was just in sight when he saw a shaft of light burst into life in the sky and with it another pulse of power. Taking care to stay on the outskirts he made his way closer so that he could get a better view.
As part of the crowds cleared away they revealed the people causing the commotion. It was D’rorah! Her and two other girls, one from Gryffindor and one from Hufflepuff, they were facing a young man. Both the girls seemed to have a sense of fear pouring over their faces one more so than the other. D’rorah however was standing fearlessly in front of the man while exchanging words. It took a few more moments for Mallan to notice the shadows standing on the side of the young man. Something was not right. D’rorah looked like she was on the verge of unleashing an attack and this man had unpleasant shadows on his side. Mallan walked to an advantageous position against the man but remained a little out of sight. The power D’rorah was wielding was great, he could sense it, but the power of this man must have also been great if he was to stand there without any hint of fear on his face. He knew that if this man was to notice Mallan as a threat the man could kill him easily.
In a position, not out of view, but not easily noticed Mallan began clearing his mind. He put his thoughts into the back of his mind and brought his senses and awareness to the front. He pulled all his mental energy and power he could and held it. He swelled with it, some of it escaping his grasp as the dirt around his feet moved slightly away from him. Mallan didn’t even think to pull out his wand. It was probably a good thing though as that would draw unwanted attention from anyone watching along with the fact that he was not even close to practiced enough with a wand to combat this guy. The more mental power he drew the more his senses heightened and he began to notice the energy coming from D’rorah more and more. Out of sight Mallan prepared himself to strike the unknown man with a telekinetic force. Unfortunately Mallan still had not mastered his telekinetic power and so the max he could probably do was throw the guy off his feet. Still, Mallan knew that would help more than anything he could do with a wand.
So Mallan listened and waited...

Corrian, always the careful one, had stopped dead in his tracks when he saw what was going on. It was odd. He had not expected a disturbance so soon and certainly not in such a public place as this. What was everyone thinking?
This could come to no good, Corrian knew. Especially if they started fighting. There were so many innocent people about - what good would a fight here do besides hurt the innocent? He was already too much in the public eye to go and hide. He faltered, unsure for a moment and thinking of his father, his stepmother. That did it. With a look of utmost disgust at Mordred, Corrian stepped over to D'rorah, clearly showing his allegiance. If his training with Master Chao had actually been serious, then now was the time to prove it.
"I stand with you, Dee," he said quietly, his voice firm. He did not take his eyes off of Mordred.

Gat was watching the whole thing in the dark, unseen. He stepped out of the shadows at Mordred's invitation. He wore gray jeans and a plain white shirt. His green eyes glinted in the light he stepped into. A power hungry grin was on his face. His wand was still in his pocket, not needed. He walked into the confines of the shadow beings.
"Now and forever my allegiances lie with my mistress." Gat announced. Through out his days at Hogwarts he had been purely on the dark side. He was not about to change now. A darkened cloud began to pass over the group by Gat's command, darkening the streets somewhat. Needles of ice were appearing on his finger tips ass he prepared to attack when the first shot was fired. A mist was also slowly generating from Gat's own body. It was now time to put his practice into use.
(Ooc: Love the pic Mord, its awesome!!)

Post by Kerridon Paradox on Dec 30, 2007 18:13:41 GMT -5
Unusually for Kerridon, he was actually out of the library and in Hogsmeade. On most of the other weekends he was cooped up with his books and his research, but for this occasion he had decided to creep out of the castle and enter the magical village so many other students chattered on about.
He had quickly found his way to the bookstore and was immersed in a volume entitled ‘Creation of Spells in the period of 1402-1520’ when the commotion began outside. First a momentary shocked silence, then the screaming and rampaging. Staring through the window at the chaos outside, his eye was caught by a glowing shape in the sky. It was the mark of his mistress. Who had been fool enough to cast that spell in the middle of a street full of students?
Leaving the shelves of ancient tomes, he went to the shop door to see more clearly and immediately recognised Mordred Kade as the spell-caster – the Mage’s new puppet. He was calling for his allies to emerge. Now here was a dilemma.
He had been ordered to stay hidden in Hogwarts; to befriend the lightfighters and pass on any information he came across. Now one the key members of the dark army was calling for his colleagues to show themselves, and Kerridon had no idea whether this was a message from the Mage or not. Should he reveal himself? If he did there was no going back from it, and for all he knew this was a spontaneous decision made by Mordred, not the Shadow Mage. If that was the case then he could be in dire trouble for disobeying orders. She already wasn’t overly happy with him after the situation with Alex and his ‘research’, and he didn’t want to anger her more. But if she did want him to show himself and he didn’t... Kerridon shook his head angrily at himself. This was going nowhere except in a circle.
He displayed himself by the edge of the shop so that any of those in the centre – Mordred, Gat, Dee and one boy and two girls he hadn’t met – who looked around would see him, and pasted an uncertain look on his face. If he was addressed directly on the matter, he would proclaim his allegiance. If not, he would simply watch and take note of who was fighting on which side.
((I can't decide whether I want Kerridon to reveal himself or not, so you guys can decide!))

Mordred watched as the enemy's forces grew stronger by the minute. He still smirked, he knew he could easily wipe out most of them now, but he had strict orders not to engage in combat. Even if they attacked first, he would still have to leave. Mordred looked around, he could only wait a little while longer before leaving. People had better start showing up.
Just when he was about to give up hope, Gat stepped from the ground and proceeded to make his way to Mordred's side. Gat's secret was out and now there was no going back for him. He would master the darkness and wield it's powers. Mordred nodded at Gat, motioning him to step in front of one the shadows. A puff a smoke appeared and Gat and the shadow were gone. Mordred reverted his attention back to Dee. "You are fighting a loosing battle. Step over here and join the Mage."
Mordred addressed the others. "Do not listen to her false claims, the Mage will guide you to power and victory. Miss Philosophy is foolish and will only get you all killed in the end..." Mordred's eye caught the attention of a boy standing off to the side and immediately recognized him as Kerridon. "Mr. Paradox, are you going to stand there like a fool or come over. The Mage asked me to bring you back, she fears you failed your mission a while ago."
