Keaira watched as the students in the front row each preformed a spell to show the new Professor. It was slightly unnerving of Keaira that the woman had asked them to perform their best magic. Keaira knew that it was to get a measure of the skill level that each student possessed, and yet she was wary of allowing the professor to possess that level of knowledge about her. If she was an enemy then she might use that knowledge for nefarious deeds, or to cause them general harm later. As such it took much debate in her mind before Keaira was able to settle on a course of action. She would show case some of her better talents, but she would not show herself capable of her best, nor her most offensive magics. Although, most people who knew Keaira would catch on quite quickly that this was not the best magic she could perform… Although she was going to add a little something that many people were unaware she was capable of.
Seeing that it was her turn, Keaira stood up, and glanced about the room. After a short moment she realized that there wasn’t all that much to work with. As such she decided to use her own materials. Four colored ink vials were on her desk at the moment, and so Keaira pointed her wand at the vials swished, jabbed, and then flicked it upward, and to the left. Without a word uttered, the vials sprouted limbs and began whistling, while they did a slow waltz across her desk. With a minor switch of her wand the vials twirled about, and as a finale the four vials lined up, and did alternating curtsies and bows. When they were done Keaira took her seat, and placed her wand back on her desk. She was certain that the dancing spell was something covered in this year’s text book, and it was a common used spell in the practical for the charms O.W.L.S. She was also certain that her use of nonverbal spells would be impressive, if her chosen spell was not quite so.

Tommy stayed quiet as the rest of the class filtered in, reaching into his bag to take out some parchment, a quill and ink and setting them out neatly on the table. One hand fiddled absently with the quill, turning it over the swirling the feather in the air as he waited for the class to start. When the professor finally began speaking, he placed it hurriedly back down on the desk, not wanting to get told off for causing a disruption. He listened attentively to the professor, who had certainly given a good first impression with her cheery reply to his greeting, although his expression fell slightly as he realised he would have to perform in front of the whole class.
Deciding to try something not too difficult for fear of getting it wrong, although it would probably be the easiest spell chosen, Tommy focussed on those already going about their demonstration to stop him getting too nervous about his own. Yes, his was almost certainly going to be the easiest spell, but he preferred that to choosing a harder one and messing it up.
As Keaira sat down again, he slowly got to his feet and drew out his wand. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself, then pointed his wand firmly at the quill resting on his desk. [red]"Wingardium Leviosa!"[/red] he called out with the necessary swish and flick, causing it to rise from the wooden surface. He concentrated, controlling the spell so that it did a very neat somersault in mid-air then slowly floated back down the desk, landing gently with a barely audible tap. Tommy stuck his wand back into his pocket and quickly sat down again, not wanting to have to do that in front of the whole class again.

Bryan closed his sketchbook when the woman decided to start the lesson. His pencil went, unconsciously, behind his left ear as his attention turned towards the instructor. He was not interested in trying to critique the woman as to whether he trusted her or if there was something more to her, as perhaps some of his peers would do. Instead, he listened as the woman instructed them in round robin, in showing her their best magic. Bryan wasn't particularly thrilled with this idea. He wasn't the type of person to show off his abilities, but it also required him to think of a spell he could do for the class, one that would be appropriate while showing himself competent but not above his level -- granted, there Bryan was not that far above his level, but with Sam's tendency towards practicing magic and even trying out new things, Bryan was often brought into these moments of practice. The young man had certainly picked up a few extra spells and a trick or two from these activities. The Gryffindor also knew he shouldn't show case his full abilities due to his position as a Lightfighter.
While Bryan watched the forward students perform their spells, the Gryffindor thought back through the year for a spell. Being seated around the middle left side, it was not long before it came to be his turn. A first year Gryffindor he recognized finished casting a levitation spell, his quill returning to his desk before he took his seat again. Bryan took that as his cue for his turn and the seventeen year old got to his feet. He pulled out his wand, and with the proper movements a small flock of birds appeared in the air around him. Bryan allowed the birds to remain for a moment or two before with another flick he casted Finite and the birds disappeared. The avis spell seemed simple enough to Bryan. However, sixth and seventh years were currently working on conjuring spells, something covered in both Charms and Transfiguration apparently, as well as non-verbal spells. So, Bryan had employed both in his casting. After the birds disappeared Bryan reclaimed his seat for the next student to exhibit.
