D'rorah watched as Susan moved through the forms, offering a few corrections. As she went. Susan was learning quickly. Once she had finished running through the set, she nodded. "Very well done, Miss Matthews. Now then, I challenge you to hit me. Once you do that, we will move on to weapons training."
She moved back into a beginning stance facing Susan and bowed. This time she would defend and attack simultaneously, incorporating everything she had learned up to this point. D'rorah adjusted her level of attack to match Susan's. It was the training technique Master Xiu had used with her when she had first begun fighting and there were no other beginners around. She stepped in swiftly after completing her bow, intending to catch Susan somewhat off-guard.

Susan responded to D'rorah's corrections, carefully perfecting her knew form and embedding it into her mind. When it seemed D'rorah was satisfied with her performance. She asked Susan to do what seemed impossible.
"Now then, I challenge you to hit me."
The words stood out from the beginning of her sentence and the rest seemed to fade away. Hitting D'rorah would be a feat in deed. Susan had managed to kick Dylan a few times in their training, but D'rorah was in a whole other league. It seemed unfair to force Susan to try to hit someone of D'rorah's level and experience in sparring. There was only one way to learn, though, Susan realized as D'rorah, with out waiting for consent, moved to the starting position to begin.
Susan nervously found her own starting position and readied herself for the fight. As she was returning for her stance from her bow, she just barely caught sight of an attack. Thinking quickly, she dodged the attack and quickly retaliated with more swift movements, all of which would be easily blocked by D'rorah. Susan continued with increasing agility, moving closer and closer to her target.

D'rorah swiftly attacked anywhere she saw an opening, forcing Susan to tighten her defenses. Though she was pushing her, she was careful to fight at her same ability level. She knew it would be intimidating enough to fight someone more advanced than she... D'rorah herself had experienced much the same thing at the beginning of her training.
"You are doing well, Miss Matthews," she commented as she continued sparring with her. "Make sure you keep your left side protected when you do that sweep. Follow through more on that punch so that you keep your balance throughout..." she made relatively few corrections, and nodded as Susan progressed. She kept going for more than an hour before finally stepping back and bowing, signaling the end of the spar.
"Excellent work, Miss Matthews. I recommend you continue working with those forms... and perhaps share them with Mister Cooper so that you and may spar together in the coming weeks. Do you have any questions about anything we have covered today?"

Susan fought back with all of her might, taking in the little bits of advice thrown at her, and not daring to stop. After sparring for nearly an hour, D'rorah finally broke away. Susan was more than happy to oblige, although she would never admit it. Panting as little as possible, Susan returned D'rorah's bow. She knew one thing she needed to practice--endurance. She nodded feircely at D'rorah's complement, unable to speak for a moment. Finally catching her breath, Susan answered a weak, "No, and thankyou," to D'rorah's inquisition on having any questions.
Upon mentioning Dylan, Susan was excited to show him what she had learned. She couldn't wait to return the favor of her first lesson with him. Not today though, Susan though, still breathing heavily. "I think I'll go take a nap, you know?" Susan smiled at D'rorah. She left the Room of Requirement, heading up the stairs to her dormitory. Susan was content. Sparring seemed to be just the remedy to get things off of her mind.
