Nodding at her suggestion, he allowed himself to be led from the room, her hand soft in his own. At her comment of unwillingness to enter the hall, he referred as always to the one place he went at night. The place calmed him, and his new grassy patch in the corner would be nice to sit on. "What about the kitchens?" he suggested quietly, walking now beside her instead of behind, his hand still entangled with hers.
Now that his immediate shock was over, his stomach was growling at him, demanding to be fed. Grimacing slightly, he found himself embarassed out of habit; he'd always detested his over-enthusiastic stomach making such noises. Usually, however, it had no reason to protest, Dylan usually managing to create meals for himself from the food stores he kept in his trunk or, when he was at Hogwarts, visit the kitchens if no other option could be found at the time.
His eyes were thoughtful, his mouth set in a straight line. He was determined to lessen her pain, no matter what it took, because for the life of him he could not bear to see D'rorah sad. She was far too amazing, too brilliant. He wanted to see her happy and happy he would make her. Giving her hand a slight squeeze, he headed down the first set of stairs and towards the kitchens.

D'rorah nodded to Dylan's suggestion about the kitchen. She had never ventured there before. "Are you certain we are allowed to be there?" she asked, not wanting to give the Headmistress any further reason to punish her. She considered him as they journeyed down towards the kitchen. Though every inclination she possessed urged her to retreat... away from people and into her books, she resisted. Her habit of pushing people away was something she was trying to break, even though it was incredibly difficult. And here beside her was the remarkable young man who had set into motion her determination to allow people closer.
She walked silently for the most part, somewhat lost in her own thoughts. Yes, it would be so much easier to simply escape into a translation or even reading for school... she had only made it two-thirds of the way through reading her astronomy textbook for this year. Irritated with herself, she pushed the thought from her mind. By the time they had reached the dungeon level of the castle, she stopped him in a deserted part of the corridor, grasping his other hand and turning so that they faced one another.
"I simply... I wished to express my thanks," she remarked quietly. "Really, you have been rather extraordinary and seem very understanding when I fear most would not be. And, I wished to thank you for that." Leaning forward, she gave him a soft kiss before pulling him into a fierce hug. "I had never known certain feelings were possible," she remarked, her words slightly muffled by Dylan's shoulders as she held tightly to him.

Continuing to make his way through the significantly deserted corridors, D'rorah's hand still happily in his own, Dylan replied to her query. "I've been going there ever since my first year, often encountering professors and the like as well, so it's alright," he said quietly, sure that it would be. As they passed the Great Hall he found himself actually rather glad that they would not be attending the meal tonight; he was quite content to avoid both Professor Spade and the Headmistress for a while. As they wandered through the dungeon corridors, he found himself turned, both of his hands now occupied by hers. Wondering for a moment what she had in mind, he was provided the answer quickly as she began to speak in a quiet voice. He listened, an embarassed sort of smile beginning to form on his face. He really was not accustomed to compliments. Before he knew it, he had been pulled into an embrace that was altogether unexpected, but which seemed to cheer him up in ways that he could not even begin to express. A broad smile was plastered onto his face, reaching his eyes and making them even more glorious than they were to begin with. He wrapped his arms around her, returning the hug and expressing in it his overwhelming feeling of appreciation for everything she had given him in only their brief time together. His appreciation for everything that she still gave him, to this very moment. "You're quite welcome, D'rorah," he replied quietly, feeling as if he really couldn't have found a girl more perfect for him.
