It felt so good to walk the halls of Hogwarts again. It felt even better to walk around without the evil glares and sarcastic remarks from her new step-mother and her two daughters. They were always harking about something that Aimee had done wrong or what Aimee should be doing. Thinking about this, she gave a kind of snort, Come to think about it...I've become a sort of Cinderella! But she refused to think about that right now, Aimee was determined for this night to be a good night. It was her first back at Hogwarts after the wedding from hell. Besides that, she couldn't help but smile when the balcony of the fifth floor came into view.
She rubbed her arms as she walked on to the balcony and looked out over the school's campus. Aimee knew when she left the common room that she should have taken her her jacket, but she was so eager to wonder around her second home that she didn't want to waste time going to the dormitories to fetch it. Seeing the light snow on the ground made Aimee a little regretful that she didn't take the extra time and put on the jacket. However, she wasn't about to leave just now, it was her favorite time of day. The stars were beginning to show, but the sun wasn't entirely hidden below the horizon just yet.
She leaned onto the stone railing and watched some of her fellow students saunter into the castle, afraid that they might be outside after hours. Aimee glanced at her watch, she had plenty of time before she was to be in the common room for the night. Dinner hasn't even been served yet. But, I bet I'll be late for curfew anyway, she told herself. She continued to watch the stragglers. A few of them shouted up at her and waved. Aimee recognized some of them and had no idea who others were, but she waved back.
