Paragraph Format: Caira stands at 5'11", towering over her peers. She has a graceful authority which is not overbearing. Her warm eyes and ready smile seem to invite people to open up to her, confide in her. She moves with a fluid grace, such that people often think she merely floats from place to place. Her cascading curls, a gift from her mother’s side of the family, are often swept back by heirloom silver combs and allowed to fall down her back. She cuts a striking figure in her robes, preferring emerald, which accents the color of her eyes. Her body is lithe and lean, with moderate curves in the proper places and she is most beautiful when she moves, possessing an air of grace not often found these days… truly, whose mother sends her daughter to charm school any more?
Personality: Caira’s personality is, at first take, warm and inviting. She may even come across as lacking in intelligence, for it would seem that a person so caring and warm could not possibly excel in the department of brains. She uses this popular misconception to her advantage, playing people’s stereotypical views of her in order to gain information which might prove useful. She would never think to use this information maliciously, but information is rarely a bad thing.
Of course, no one could ever rise to the position of headmistress of the most prestigious wizarding school in all of Europe by being a simpleton. As warm and inviting as Caira is, she is not a pushover. She is firm on the things she believes in and will not allow anyone to push her around. Typically, she exercises her authority in subtle ways, leaving her opponents wondering how she managed to persuade them from their own points of view. Tact and diplomacy are two of her strongest points.
When tact and diplomacy fail, she becomes tough, unrelenting. She really prefers to keep relations with others nice, at least civil, but she will not hesitate to defend something she believes in. People are often surprised by how much she seems to know, for her unassuming manner often leads people to confide in her when they would not confide in others. She dislikes those who intimidate and bully others for no reason other than exercising their own vanity and proving their own inflated sense of self-worth. Phony people irk her, for she cannot imagine ever inflating her own abilities and accomplishments for the sake of impressing others… such deceit is often discovered… and with less-than-desirable consequences.
History: Caira was born in the French countryside, in Normandy. Her parents owned a rather large villa that spread out across an estate. In her youth, she was privately educated, her parents hiring governesses and tutors who were tasked with seeing that she received a fine, well-rounded education. She studied every day, but her mother also made certain she was socially well-acclimated and well-networked. Caira was introduced to some of the more powerful people in Europe and traveled abroad extensively.
When she was eleven, her parents debated between Beauxbaton’s and Hogwart’s for her magical education. After a period of fierce deliberation, it was decided that she would fare better at Hogwart’s, where the student body was more diverse and where she would have more likelihood of making contacts among the more prominent members of wizarding society. So, she stood with her parents at King’s Cross station; her eyes swept over the crowd, assessing those around her, immediately getting a feel for the dynamics of the individuals with whom she would soon be spending her year. She hugged and kissed her parents, promising to write often and to study hard before heading off to the train to join the others.
Caira was sorted into Hufflepuff when she arrived. Her loyalty, honesty, and dedication shining above her other qualities. She remembered the applause that met her short walk to a table bedecked with the black and gold decorations of her house and felt immediately at home. She was eagerly welcomed by her classmates and grew to be very close to them, thinking of them as her “family away from family.” She was another warm and friendly Hufflepuff girl who had no qualms about offering assistance or giving of herself to others who were in need. As she settled into her dormitory, she smiled at her new roommates and immediately introduced herself, taking on the task of breaking the ice and putting the others at ease.
In classes, she excelled. Though she wasn’t an encyclopedia of theory, her practice of magic was excellent. Her favorite classes were History of Magic, for she knew that History was often where the keys to the future lay, and Potions. She did well in all of her other subjects, but found particular enjoyment in these two, and dove into her studies with relish. She grew with her classmates, blossoming into the warm, charming young woman her mother had raised her to be. As promised, she wrote nearly every week while she was away, filling her parents in on the progression of her studies and the new friends she was making. She was well into her sixth year when she first began noticing looks from the boys at the school. Her ready smile and warm countenance drew them to her, but really all she desired from any of them was friendship. And oh, she did gain friends. She was quite popular in her time… and retained her popularity by never letting it go to her head. Though many of the boys approached her as potential suitors, she never felt the spark which she knew she would feel at meeting one who was truly a match for her. Gently, not wanting to injure their pride or feelings, she turned them away. Her years at Hogwart’s passed almost too quickly, a whirlwind of studies and socializing.
When she left Hogwart’s, she applied for an internship with the International Council of Magic. Her first years were spent as the assistant to a diplomat from America named Isaac. Isaac was a wonderful man, though demanding, and had a lovely family who Caira often heard about and saw pictures of; though she never met them because he kept his work and personal life separate. After a few years, she had risen in prominence through prudent networking and hard work and had attained the position of Diplomat herself, acting as the formal liaison between the English Ministry of Magic and the French Ministry. She retained this position for twelve years, working hard to maintain relations between the two countries.
It had been a typical Monday morning when she had received an owl from Hogwart’s, advising her that the current Headmaster was preparing to step down and inviting her for an interview. Intrigued by the notion of returning to Hogwart’s after all these years, so accepted the invitation with excitement and arranged for her interview. In the end, it was she who was selected to take over the school and she turned in her formal resignation to the International Council of Magic. With a smile on her face, and her trunk carefully packed, she made her way to her new home… her old home. She was excited to see what this new adventure might have in store for her.
