Applying for: Herbology Professor
Referred By: Google
Name: Catherine Dunham
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Nationality: Grew up in England, but is of Swedish and Greek heritage
Speech: English (native), Latin (read)
Blood: Here’s the tricky part. Her mother was of the mythical Tree Dryads of Greece, a humanoid race created by the powerful Earth Gods in the beginning of time. They were woman-like nymphs who took care of the forest and the inhabitants of that forest, helping it grow and flourish. Today they are a dying breed, not many know of their existence and therefore they’re considered a myth by muggles and exterminated in the wizarding world. Her father was a muggle, so she’s considered muggle-born. (No one knows, not even Catherine, about her nymph-blood)
Father: John Fisher (67) (adopted Catherine when she was 3 months old)
Mother: Martha Fisher (69)
Siblings: Nope
Other Family: Catherine is married to Alastair Dunham (26), a respected Ministry of Magic-lawyer and from one of the more famous and rich Pureblood families. Was a prefect in the Slytherin house while he attended Hogwarts.
Family Interactions: John and Martha, two Muggles, always treated Catherine as the greatest gift you could ever receive during her childhood. After they had basically given up on having their own child, the couple traveled to Greece and stayed at an orphanage, where they found a new-born with no known parents alive. Adopting the baby, and naming her Catherine, they traveled back to England and raised their loved child.
When they found out that she had magical powers they became very interested in the new world revealed to them and was very supportive when Catherine went off to Hogwarts. Catherine considers her parents as her real parents and tries not to think much of her real background. She knows that her mother was Greek and her father was Swedish, but has left it at that. She loves her new parents dearly and tries to keep as much contact with them as possible, however, Alastair and his family does not approve of Muggles at all, thinking that they’re ignorant and inferior.
Catherine’s relationship to Alastair is a cold and loveless story. In the beginning, they were teenagers in love. Catherine changed most of herself in order to please him, and became his little trophy. After a while, however, she started to question some of his views, especially his views on muggles and muggleborns. It was clear that his family did not approve of Catherine or her parents and at one point, they asked her to end all contact with the Fisher’s, otherwise, she “would never become one of them, the real wizards.”
Catherine refused and her refusal left a cold and hard relationship. More than once, she had urged for a divorce but Alastair said that divorces were only for weak people, and that the shame would be worse than to suffer a loveless relationship. “Think of my reputation, you selfish little mudblood!” he used to snap at her when she wanted to discuss it. Catherine started to hate her husband more and more, and therefore decided to apply for full-time job at Hogwarts in order to get away from him.
Height: 152 cm (5 ft)
Weight: 42 kg (92, 5 pounds)
Hair: During summers her hair is almost white-blonde, and during winters it takes a strawberry-blonde colour. She keeps her hair usually in a long braid, or hanging loosely over her shoulders. She has a natural fall to it, curly but not extremely curly. Like a nymph. =)
Eyes: Very large, blue eyes. This is usually what most people notice about her, before the realise that she is also quite short. Her mother used to say she looked like the manga heroine Sailor Moon when she was younger, with those big blue eyes.
Skin Colour: Can get a tan without looking like a hummer, thanks to her Greek mother, but gets easily pale if she does not keep it up.
Paragraph Format: Catherine is an amazingly petite little person. Very dynamic though, so on a photograph you wouldn’t notice until you stand next to her that she’s probably a head shorter than you. People always considered her as “cute” when she was younger, with her big blue eyes and blonde pony-tails, so when she became a teenager and got breasts and hips, she did her best to make sure everyone could see them. She was a “little package of porn” (as some boys called her) during her fifth and sixth year at Hogwarts and loved the attention she got from it, no matter if it was positive or negative. It all changed though, when meeting Alastair, the proud Slytherin prefect. (more about that in History)
After years with Alastair, she now dresses herself in proper suits or robes. She has no real interest in fashion, but still feel forced to look elegant. Dryads are always naked, so by nature, Catherine loves to have nothing at all stuck on her body, but this happens seldom because she knows how “wrong” it is to walk around butt-naked.
She's extremely flexible but not very strong. She doesn't have much interest in building muscles, but loves to perform yoga with her mother whenever she has time. She has very small feet and hands, and think her bottom could use some more flesh. She values the female body and envies those with a big, fleshy bottom. Her breasts, however, are quite big for being so small, and when she was younger, she loved to wear dresses that gave away some cleavage.
Personality: Catherine is an erratic, happy and creative woman who loves the outdoors and nature. She has a natural talent for Herbology and can make almost anything grow by matters of seconds. This has been something she has always been able to do, but have no clue why, and the teachers at Hogwarts couldn’t describe it in any other way than that she really had “green fingers.” She becomes easily bored with indoor-stuff, such as chess and reading books. Every chance she gets, she wants to be outside, preferably having a conversation with a tree or a bird.
As a dryad, she has a very soft spot for candy and sweets, and love to hear compliments about her appearance, even if the guy only wants to get laid. She has always been a sexual creature from the moment she entered puberty, but hides it well. She doesn’t want to offend anyone.
However, the years of her marriage has made her cold and distant to the things she used to like. She started to mistrust people and got angrier and angrier with her situation, but also felt helpless. Almost like a depression, she felt trapped in a horrible cycle.
Getting back to Hogwarts as a Herbology teacher, she started to get back to normal, of somewhat more mature. Her childish behavior is still there but she can hide it now when she needs to, and the responsibility over her students has made her grow. She is quite stubborn and believes that she is always right, and if corrected, she starts to sulk.
As a teacher, she tends to talk too much during her lessons, so sometimes she asks the students to tell her if she speaks for more than 15 minutes. She usually doesn’t get angry with her students, but pushing the right button can get you a firm “talk-to” and detention. She has very little patience with teenage-behaviour, and even though she enjoys the sexual act, she has no tolerance with teenagers who decide to snuggle instead of doing their homework.
Her main flaw is that she is amazingly sensitive and insecure when it comes to other people’s opinions. On one hand, she hates conflicts, but on the other hand, she hates to be wrong and can get really mad at the person correcting her. She is a very emotional person and can be upset over something for years, or believe people hate her even though they haven’t even said a word to her. Psychologists would call her a master of “destructive mind-reading”, slightly paranoid and with a low self-esteem.
History:
Markus Lindström, a Swedish young man who got too drunk while he was partying with his friends in Cyprus, is the biological father of Catherine. On his way back home from the pub one night, he decided to take a shortcut through the forest - The day after he was found dead, naked, and as cold as if he had been lying there dead for week. The police had no other explanation than that he had probably got poisoned from the alcohol, and they left the case.
Xantira, a dryad who was more than ready to bear a child, had tricked her prey into the forest and feasted on him until she was sure that he had impregnated her. The energy she “stole” from him killed him eventually. 9 months later, a girl was born. But there was something wrong with her (she was a witch that the dryads sensed, but couldn’t understand) so the baby had to be killed. Xantira did not have the heart to kill her baby, so she left her at a human orphanage. This was not very popular among the other dryads who thought Xantira was a coward, and she was therefore excluded from the tribe and probably died a couple of days later, unable to take care of herself without the help from her sisters.
Catherine grew up in England with her new parents, John and Martha Fisher. They both loved her dearly and Catherine loved them. Quite soon, Catherine started to discover a connection with plants, birds and trees none of the other children seemed to understand. She realized that she was different, and felt like an outcast. But when the letter arrived from Hogwarts, she finally got an explanation to everything and it was a blessing. However, no one at Hogwarts had the same connection to the nature there either, but instead of being scared of her, they were impressed.
As a Gryffindor-girl, Catherine got the best grades in Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures and Potions. All the other subjects she actually thought was quite boring and only passed Defense Against the Dark Arts because she was realized the importance of being able to defend oneself.
In her fifth year, Catherine fell for a Slytherin prefect, named Alastair Dunham. She was literally head over heels in love with him, not caring about anything else but him and together they spent almost a year doing nothing but kissing each other. When she left Hogwarts, they got married and all was well until Catherine one day looked herself in the mirror and didn’t recognize what she saw. Instead she saw a snotty, Pureblood-wannabe who did nothing but being her husband’s pet. Alastair once called her his little beautiful house-elf and it was then she realized that it had gone too far. Alastair and his family tried to make her break contact with her Muggle-parents, which she refused, and after that it all just went down in a negative spiral.
Catherine didn’t want to sleep in the same bed as Alastair anymore, and didn’t want to utter one unnecessary word to him. Alastair didn’t care as long as the surface was spotless. Catherine knew he was seeing other women since she refused to share his bed, but she didn’t care. She hated his family and everything they stood for so she figured that they could talk if they wanted to, as long as she didn’t have to touch him again.
When she applied for her job at Hogwarts, Alastair tried to threaten her that if she didn’t stay, something bad would happen. Snorting at his threats, Catherine left anyway and hasn’t seen her husband, except very briefly, for over 2 years. Alastair and his family is however, very powerful, so the peace may only be temporary…
THE END.
