"Welcome to the land of questions Welcome to the isle of lore Where the veil came crumbling down

The words were tossed out of Daniel's mouth with anger and rage. Naturally, many would keep away from him, and especially since it was raining like nothing else, anyone would be inside, but Daniel felt that this was the only time he could find time alone, without either having remarks made about his sexuality, or without being bugged constantly. Sad as it is, he has grown to love grey skies and rain. It had become obvious to other students that he liked to be alone, as well as hanging out with friends, but he could balance the two very well. It was just a shame he couldn't bring his iPod to Hogwarts, and he had to remember the songs he wanted to sing off by heart. He shrugged the thought off and whipped out his wand, then uttered the word "Mobiliarbus " Which immediately moved a small branch from his view over the courtyard. He was still sitting on the bench when a chilling wind picked up and he moved to a more sheltered area of the courtyard. He loved the rain and the wind, but when it began to get too cold, he knew it was time to move away. He eventually just found a spot on the floor where it was drier, and he leaned against the stone walls of the castle, beginning to day dream about anything and everything.

Yes, Scott wasn't one to usually be outside. Especially while it was raining outside. But...it was the weekend, and a Saturday. With nothing to do for that, what would you do? Stay inside? No, didn't think so either. It wasn't that he didn't like the rain, because he didn't. But...it was just too cold for Scott. He actually liked the watching the rain slowly trace the colorful shapes of the windows from the inside of the school, but today was just a different day for him.
But when the wind blew, he felt like he wanted to go inside. Even though he didn't. Something distracted him greatly.
Light, chocolate brown eyes turned to see a thin figure singing in the rain. Not very happily either. Scott knew who he was by face, but not by name. All he knew was that he was in Ravenclaw, but a year behind himself. All that was coming to Scott's mind though was why this boy was so aggravated.
Taking the time to just get up and walk over to a more decent place where he wouldn't be as wet, he kept his eyes gazing around the water falling around him, but taking swift glances at the mad boy not too far from him.

The rain had seemed to have taken Daniel away into another world, one from this hectic life style to a calm haven of peace and flowers. Maybe the flowers part wasn't so obvious to other people, but what was obvious is that he had calmed down a bit from earlier. It was still not obvious what had made him pissed, but it was probably something to do with the piece of parchment slightly peeking out of his pocket, maybe a letter from his parents? Still, Daniel didn't believe it was anyone else's business apart from his own, and that's the way he wished it to stay, unless he decided to open up to someone and let them know about his problem.
His eyes slowly closed as he rested his head against the stone building and turned to the side, as if he was getting ready to go to sleep. He was one of those people who would sleep whenever he wanted, wherever he wanted, and if that meant in the rain against a huge castle, then he would do it and no one could tell him otherwise. Naturally, because of the barrier between him and the rest of his family due to his life style, he had to put up a front and develop himself into a more independent person who can fend for himself. he doesn't usually open up to people, even his parents don't know him really all that well, in all honesty. However, he did open up to his brother, as he seemed to be the only person in the family who understood what it was like to be different.
It seemed to take him a while to notice the other male near by. Naturally, he looked over, snapping out of his day dreamish state, so he wasn't the happiest bunny on the courtyard. However, he didn't say anything, he just nodded to acknowledge the other person being there. He only knew the boy was in his house, but a year above him, but that never stopped him from still looking teeth and nodding. Some people might call him sociable, but he calls it just polite, even when he is in a bad mood. Ugh, as if that wasn't bad enough, hail stones began falling down just as hard. "Ugh, for Christ's sake." He growled to himself, then moved up to the stone closer.

Scott had just taken a look at the nearby boy when he had noticed him. His heart had sped up, and his breath hitched. It wasn't like Scott to be staring at people, boys in particular. Especially in school. But he just couldn't help it. This male seemed very interesting to him, and he wanted to know why. Maybe there wasn't a reason, but Scott wasn't going to stop until he did get a reason. That was all it was to it. Be friends with the boy, and see what was so damn interesting that he may have to follow him around the school non-stop.
Not a good idea.
But what surprised him the most was when the boy nodded to him in acknowledgment. Gulping, swallowing, wiping his forehead, all this continued until Scott nodded back at the boy, giving him a sheepish smile. Never had Scott been this nervous, and it was getting on his nerves. He hated it, and wanted to end. Maybe the boy should just leave, or not have looked at him. The rain wasn't bothering Scott as much anymore, and he had stepped out into the rain before smiling softly to himself. It was very calming, especially when he was having an emotional fit as was shown just a few moments earlier.
A male voice brought him out of his own reverie, and his eyes opened, glancing at the boy he had seen earlier. 'Ugh, for Christ's sake,' was what he had heard being growled into the hard rain. It had taken him a moment to actually notice what the boy had been aggravated about. He had felt the hard pelts on his soft tan skin a few seconds later. With a small frown, he stepped back once more, the shelter above him keeping him from being pelted by more ice pellets.

Daniel simply rolled his eyes and continued to look drowsy and sleepy. He had noticed, before he went back to the stone of the castle, that the other boy seemed to be slightly interested in what Daniel was doing. One thing he didn't want to do was open up to him immediately, however, he knew he probably would if he was a friendly face, it was just in his nature to try not to, but end up doing it anyway. At that point, his eyes began throbbing from over-tired-ness, he had got no sleep whatosever the night before. He had noticed that even though it was only late afternoon, the sun had begun setting early, shame. It could have been a nice day. The sun had slowly been tracing across the sky as a small bright dot behind thick grey clouds since about two PM that day. It could have been a rather nice day, too. Maybe sitting down by the lake and sorting out his assessments he still needed to do. It wasn't in his nature to let things like school work fall behind, but somehow he had missed a potions assessment this term.
Still, he had no alternative yet to get it done, assessments are due, detentions would be given and that is something he could really do without, in fact, detentions in potions frightened him more than detention in Defence Against the Dark Arts. Defence against the dark arts just frightened him because he didn't particularly like the dark arts, he once knew someone who had their parents killed from them and then in the second year, the young boy suddenly disappeared from the school and the face of the Earth, never to be heard from again. However, the time had come to replace that boy as a friend, but the only problem was, he didn't know anyone who could be such a good friend, and he guess that also built upon his problems with talking to people in social situations, which was possibly why he was such a loner. On the plus side, being a loner also meant he got his work done twice as fast and was allowed to leave the lesson before everyone else, usually.
He opened his eyes and simply stared at Scott, trying to see how long it would be before he either walked away or came over to him. To add to the intimidating look, he had a pair of blood red contact lenses put in, as he didn't have his glasses as Hogwarts, and he could simply conjure up a spell to keep the special water that lenses need. And, of course, they were his favorite pair that he had. He noticed that Scott slowly backed under the stone covered arch way, which made him slightly disappointed on the inside a little bit, but then again, he had done the exact same, and he knew he looked as if he wasn't interested in speaking to the boy at all, but then again, that was Scott's problem, and not his. He was only at the school to learn, not to bitch, make friends, make enemies, or anything else. However, if something did get personal, he would get involved with it, as, well, it's personal. He remembered getting picked on in his first year by a Slytherin third year for being a muggle born, but the bullying soon stopped when he stumbled across the wrong side of Daniel's bat bogey hex. It had become known in his year, and by a few people in the above year that he was a good bat bogey hex caster, and a lot of people were afraid to talk to him and get on his wrong side because of that, but he didn't exactly care. He was at school for one reason and one reason only; education.
He continued to stare at Scott, then he smiled at him softly, as if to try and welcome him over for a chat, something he had never done before. He wanted the school to remember him for something, and hopefully in a good. He had his secrets and his regrets, but then again, everyone does. He was determined not to be the one to leave Hogwarts in pieces, with all his regrets and other people's laid upon him, maybe he would find a day to let them all out onto someone, maybe someone he could trust. Ha, who was he kidding? He trusted no one, he only trusted his brother with any secret. He was the first person to find out Daniel was gay. It took him what felt like forever to finally tell his parents and his sister, but his sister didn't exactly understand, being only eight or nine at the time. He took off his bag and laid it down beside him, slightly under his right leg, and then rested his head even more against the stone wall.

When Daniel smiled at Scott softly, he had to admit, it was a surprising gesture. Scott's eyes widened about a centimeter before he smiled back at Daniel, a little wider than his own had been. It was always a happy thing for Scott to meet new people and get new friends, he didn't know why, but it was just so fun and he enjoyed it greatly. The fact that Daniel was actually being nice to him was nice, but Scott knew it wasn't going to last too long. Especially with how the way Scott was with new people; strangers as he likes to call them. Even if he knows them by name and have talked to them about a thousand times. That was one of the turn offs about him, he never was positive. Maybe there was a reason for that, or maybe not.
What was actually making him question himself though, was if, or how, he had actually come to see, and almost meet Daniel. It wasn't like Scott to actually come outside, especially in the rain. Never had Scott just wandered around the castle. He was always the one to know where he was going, and have a plan as to why he was going there. This road that he had followed had him quite confused, and he never liked being confused. Especially while being a Ravenclaw, Scott usually knew every answer to every question, but with this question that was floating around in his head and annoying him, he truly had no answer whatsoever. This was what was getting him slightly mad.
Being a sneak, Scott quickly and quietly made his way over to Daniel, not letting Daniel see him, but leaned against the wall just as Daniel was doing. "'Ello." He replied in his quiet, shy voice. Scott was easily and very quickly surprising himself. All that was happening in about, a good twenty minutes was the most undescribable, unusual things. And no one could describe it. Why? Because for one, Scott had no clue. And he would be the only one to answer the question.
(HOW DO YOU WRITE SO MUCH? hehehe. xD)

When Scott finally came over to him and sat down, a slightly larger grin appeared on his face, it felt good knowing someone would just approach him and talk. Not many people seem to do that, especially since he wasn't known to be the most friendly person. He wasn't sure why he had always been quite intimidating, but he had just built up a wall between him and other people, well, strangers. On another note, surely it was odd that two people just stumbled across each other on a rainy day, taking cover in the court yard, both with, what seemed like, no reason to be out there.
"Hi, I'm Daniel." He uttered, rolling his head to the stone again. He didn't know what had got into him, he had begun feeling shattered, maybe it was because he hadn't eaten anything that day at all. His stomach growled rather loudly, then he put his hands on it, and whipped out his wand. "Accio Apple." He said, swishing his wand in the air, then he waited for a minute or two for his apple to find it's way to him, then it landed in his hand, and he began munching on it, the crunch noise reaching the far corners of the court yard, but that didn't stop him, in fact, it made him want to eat it even more.

Scott saw the larger grin on his face, and he grinned larger too. It wasn't to make Daniel happier, but it was just that as Scott began to become more comfortable with Daniel, the happier he got. It was weird, but he could care less about being happy. That was the way you're supposed to be, not upset and gloomy. And that was that. No way was Scott going to get upset over nothing, it just wasn't the way he was. Especially while making a new friend. To Scott, he had no idea how anyone could be mad, or even aggravated, about meeting someone new and becoming close friends with them; that was, unless that person was just a straight out bitch, then that was okay with him.
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Daniel." He said in his normally quiet voice. Scott didn't make a move to hold out his hand. "I'm Scott. Ravenclaw, obviously. I think I'm a year above you?" He asked him. It wasn't that he was so sure about it, but he just wanted to make sure. Never has he wanted to come across as a know-it-all, nor as a bastard for being older than someone. That...just wasn't right. Well, it wasn't right to Scott Fields, at least.
Scott listened and watched as Daniel flicked his wand and an apple came flying towards them a few minutes later. It wasn't that Scott found it weird, but if Daniel was hungry, why didn't he just go to the kitchens? Maybe he just wanted to stay outside. That was the thought that came to Scott's mind and stayed there, meaning Scott accepted that as an answer. The sound of the apple crunching in Daniel's mouth made Scott smile. All of a sudden, a thought came to mind. He couldn't remember his last transformation, which wasn't such a good thing.
"Do you know when the next full moon is?" And if Daniel asked why, Scott knew what he would say. 'He always went upstairs to the Tower and looked at the moon and stars.' Not too hard of an answer.
(It's alright. I did too. xD)

Cavan had gone out to the lake to run a few laps, always keeping an eye on the forbidden forest as he did. When it had started to rain he'd been on the far side of the lake and was making his way back to the castle at a jog when the hail started. He'd picked up the pace, trying to dodge as many as he could.
It took him several minutes to get around the lake and running full speed toward the courtyard and safety he'd already been hit in the head and shoulders several times. There were tears running down his cheeks, which luckily could be mistaken for rain as he rounded the corner and finally saw shelter feet away. With a last burst of energy he made it under cover and collapsed in a wet heap on his knees, gasping for breath and holding his head, which was throbbing.
He didn't notice the older boys, his whole being distracted by the pain of where the many balls of falling ice had bashed into his skull. There was a growing puddle around him as the clothes he was wearing tried to release the water they'd gathered by chance.
Once bright pink sketcher high-tops and once bright green ankle socks were covered in at least one layer of mud. Green knee length shorts that might have been olive when dry, had their own layer of mud from what he'd kicked up by how fast he'd been running. His black t-shirt was clinging to him at the weight of the water. Blue black hair that stopped at the bottom of his shoulder blades was clinging to his back and dripping wet, falling in his face.
He was shivering, but and if could get rid of his head ache, then he could cast a drying charm and a warming charm. "Ow... stupid hail..." His voice came out in a half whimper, which he was in too much pain to even notice. Slowly he sat up, hands still holding his head, suffering, and finally he noticed the older boys, both Ravenclaw and he felt his cheeks flame. Deep, midnight blue eyes widened behind black, rectangular, thick rimmed, glasses in surprise and dread. He couldn't help pouting, this was not how he wanted people to find him, looking all helpless.

Daniel nodded, then proceeded to speak once Scott had finished, but he still hadn't quite figured what he was going to say, so it began as a huge jumble, but then he managed to get something out that made sense. "Well, it's great to meet you, too." He said with a confident grin on his face, then he knew he needed to confirm Scott's question, so he simply nodded and uttered a quick 'Mhmm'. It felt good to know that he was finally talking to someone in his own house, and finally socializing with people in a different year group. He had always stuck to his own year group, even though he could probably get on with anyone at all, even those Slytherins, if he tried.
It felt surreal, the pouring rain and the hail somehow made two people begin talking, even when one of them was about to fall asleep, still he decided he shouldn't really dwell on it, otherwise he might end up going into one of his thinking rants, as he calls them, where he begins thinking of something nice, then begins ranting to himself about something completely different. He also wondered how he developed as a person; was he always like this, but this 'anti-social' side showing more and more as he grew up and became an adolescent? Or did he just develop into an anti-social person, due to his past five or six years. It took him maybe one or two more minutes to notice a young boy, perhaps in his first year?
Still, the boy seemed to be a bit wet, and cold. Well, how else would you feel if you had been out in the pouring rain and small balls of ice falling from the sky? If anything, one should be crying, but this boy didn't seem to be. "Hey, kid. You alright?" Daniel called over to the kid, hoping to get a response. He had a trench coat he could give to the kid, not the warmest thing, but it would provide a bit more warmth than he already had.

Scott grinned just as happily at Daniel. He was happy that at least one or two people didn't comment about him. He had figured that almost everyone knew who he was in Ravenclaw Tower. One, because the rumors that were flying around him were mostly about him, but there were so many students, he didn't know if the names were getting mixed up, so he usually ignored them until someone literally came up to him and began speaking about junk that he didn't like to hear. Especially from the younger students! That was just ridiculous.
His eyes widened when he saw the younger boy. It didn't surprise him that Daniel only asked the boy a question only because Scott's attention was on the little child at the moment, and not on Daniel. Scott bent down to his knees as to not scare the child for being so much taller then him. He smiled softly at him, seeing as the kid was crying, and it wasn't just rain. Cavan's eyes were red and puffy, which you could see if you were close enough. And the way he was sniffling wasn't from the cold.
Quickly, Scott took off his jacket and placed it on the boys shoulders. "Hey...what's your name?" He asked him quietly, a small smile finding it's way onto his face. "I'm Scott Fields. Seventh Year Ravenclaw." He didn't want to frighten the boy, but wanted to help him. If he was sick, he needed to be seen by the nurse right away, but Scott couldn't find that out until a little later.

"Hey, kid. You alright?"
Cavan looked to Daniel and blushed, the color more obvious due to his pallor being so pale due to the cold. He nodded meekly, still holding his head as though it might fall off at any moment. The pain was settling into a dull throb, which he wished he could easily ignore. "H..hail h..hurtss..." He sighed, wishing his brain were functioning around the pain better.
His blush grew when Scott knelt down beside him and wrapped a jacket around his shivering, dripping body.
"Hey...what's your name? I'm Scott Fields, Seventh Year Ravenclaw."
Cavan returned the smile in a shivering manner. He couldn't help being glad that at least it was no longer winter, which meant that he was much less likely to catch cold. Taking in both older boy's appearances Cavan found himself turning his eyes to watch the puddle around him grow as more and more water dripped from his clothes and hair. "C..cavan, First Y..year Hu..ffflepufff." He frowned as he words came out full of shivers. He needed to concentrate and cast a drying charm and a warming charm before he became seriously ill.
