Greetings,
I am Professor Forrestor, your new Astrology Professor. Astrology can be a fascinating topic for those who enjoy the stars or want to know more about what's beyond this small planet of ours. Divinators and future Fortune Tellers might also find this class useful.
First through Seventh years may attend my class, listed below will be the type of classes I teach. I will teach four different levels of Astrology. Anyone wishing to take a higher degree of my classes with no previous scholastic background will need to take an entry test. This will apply only to years five and above. Anyone below must take the classes in order. Those who desire to test to another higher level can only do so to enter level three of my classes. I assure you levels three and four will be most difficult.
My office hours are posted outside the door. Please do not hesitate to seek me out for questions on things you do not understand at any time, even if I am walking the grounds.
In order for you to pass one of my classes, you must first sign up for the appropriate class and then be a regular poster. The final will be posted at the end of the thread, which you must score an eighty or above to pass my class. The final will consist of ten questions, so study well.
What You Will Need In My Class
- Telescope. You will be unable to do assignments without this. They can be found in Daigon Alley. Do not buy a Muggle telescope or you'll probably fail.
- Astronomy and You, by Leona Starnight for first through fourth years. I expect fifth years and above to understand the basics enough to not need a book.
- Star Chart for fifth through seventh years.
Overview of the Classes I Offer
Astrology Class 1 - (Prerequisite: None) Students will learn the bare basics of Astrology from the planets in our solar system to various rotations the planets make and how that pertains to magic. First through second years only.
Note: Telescope not required for this class but highly recommended.
Astrology Class 2 - (Prerequsite: Astrology Class 1) Students will learn more about the stars and begin to acquire information on how to read Star Charts. Homework assignments will involve studies of our planets in conjuction to other planets and stars via telescope, instead of learning through the book. Second through fourth years only.
Astrology Class 3 - (Prerequsite: Astrology Classes 1 &2, or Passing of Entrance Exam given by myself) Students will be using Star Charts exclusively in order to prepare them for their O.W.L's. Class will be heavily focused on using the Telescopes, thusly only Night Classes will be held. Fifth years only. Fourth years will be accepted only under Teacher recommendation and will have to pass a complicated Entry Exam given by myself.
Astrology Class 4 - (Prerequsite: Astrology Classes 1-3, Passing O.W.L [Either an 'O' or an 'E'. 'A's will not be accepted into this class]) Students need only take this class if they are either truly passionate about learning Astrology or wish to take the course for their N.E.W.T. Students will learn about various solar systems and stars. Students will also learn more in detail about how Astrology affects the Wizarding world. This is an advanced class that will have a mixture of day and night classes. Sixth and Seventh years only, NO EXCEPTIONS.
