*Made the changes asked in the thread. The one I PMed you, I forgot to fix the name error. I was originally going to use Silva until I remembered I made her mother English and not Bulgarian and I must have forgotten to fix the mistake. Then I decided her grandmother was going to be named Silva. Thanks and sorry!*

Name:Lana Ivanov
Age:16, 6th year
Sex:Female
Nationality: Bulgarian and English
Speech: English, Bulgarian taught by her father and grandfather, some Thai taught by her Muay Thai trainer
Blood: Pureblood
Father: Damien Ivanov
Mother: Satine Russel
Siblings: None
Other Family: Maternal grandparents deceased. Paternal grandfather: Filip Ivanov. Paternal grandmother: Silva Ivanov. Working on the rest of her family tree
Family Interactions: Lana has very little contact with her cousins and extended family other than a family reunion every year. None of her cousins are within five years of her age, and so she has little desire to interact with them. Her maternal grandparents passed away before Lana was born. Her paternal grandfather is showing signs of illness and imminent death, while her grandmother spends most of her day taking care of him. Lana adores her living grandparents as they treat her with a much softer hand than her parents. Every year, she spends a month of her summer with them in the capital of Bulgaria.
Lana and her father have a decent relationship. Her father is usually working, but they share several interests that they can discuss whenever he is at home. Although he runs the house with an iron hand, he has never stricken or hurt Lana. Instead, he prefers to use bribes to get her to do what he wants. Her mother, on the other hand, hates Lana. Lana's birth resulted in Satine's inability to have more children and, to add insult to injury, Satine had wanted a son. Satine is constantly putting Lana down and trying to control her, to force her into practice dark magic and instill purity values in her. Lana's mother is the opposite of her father in the sense that she will not hesitate to punish Lana physically and with magic.
Height: 5'7"
Weight:138 pounds
Hair: Brown
Eyes:Hazel
Skin Colour: Ivory
Clothing style:When she is not in her school robes, she has the tendency to wear the same type of clothing. Her clothing choices are shaped by two reasons. The first being that Lana enjoys exercise and the second that she is self-conscious. She is often found wearing some form of exercise pants and a spaghetti strap tank top. This way she is able to work out whenever she feels the need or urge to do so. Before anyone has a chance to see her top, she will cover herself with an oversized sweatshirt. She adores baby doll tees and they are the only type of shirt she feels comfortable not covering. Another exception to her cover up look is when she finds herself in the common room in her pajamas. Due to the lack of company at such late hours, she feels free to wear what she pleases and will even go so far as to wear a pair of giant, fluffy snake slippers. Even though she has been told her feet are a bit too big for her she loves wearing flip-flops during the day, and carries a pair of running shoes and socks in her bag. Having recently discovered nail polish, her nails are now usually painted green with a silver snake on each of her thumbnails.
Accessories: Lana prefers to avoid accessories as they hinder movement and get in the way of her daily activities.
Other: Scar diagonally across her back

A quick glance at Lana Ivanov will provide the observer with the single most important piece of information they need to know: Never cross her. She is a self-proclaimed queen bee and her sense of superiority is easily spotted in her perfect posture. When she is addressing others, her movements have the tendency to be slow and calm, never wishing to be seen as sporadic or frazzled. This calm demeanor, coupled with her 5’7” height, makes it rather easy to intimidate her peers who are easily unnerved by appearances alone. However, when she walks it is the opposite. Her gait is quick and her stride long and graceful, though full of power. Every step has a power behind it that matches her determination. She walks with her chin ever so slightly elevated and hands hidden away in her pockets, usually with one wrapped around her wand. Despite its intensity, there is an undeniable grace to her walk. A grace comparable to a goddess, should that goddess have rule over war.

Having recently discovered nail polish, her nails are now usually painted green with a silver snake on each of her thumbnails.
Lana exercises at least once a day (as demanded by her parents), usually retreating to the forest to do so or slipping away to the Room of Requirement to do so. Even though her parents value magical prowess above all else, they also understood how easily one can be separated from their wand. The solution to this problem was to ensure that Lana knew some martial arts, stressing Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing) the most. Due to the high levels of conditioning, Lana’s body does not fit her baby face and provides an awkward sight. Her legs, though usually never shown, have defined calves and powerful thighs from being forced to do kicking exercises everyday for over a decade. Although this particular form of martial arts focuses more on the legs, her arms have not escaped training. Her upper arms have a slight bulge to them, and Lana is very conscious about the fact that the upper part of her arm does not seem to match the lower. The effect of working with weapons ranging from staffs to double swords is easily spotted when Lana flexes her arms to revealed strong biceps.
The upside to the workouts is that she is a slender 138 pounds despite being so tall. Even though Lana now possesses a curvy midsection, she was not always in such great shape. She was born a chubby baby and did not lose her baby fat as she grew into childhood. When she finally lost her excess pounds, she found that her body, especially around her hips, was covered in stretch marks. The drastic weight loss occurred the year of her thirteenth birthday since she had made a New Year’s resolution to lose the extra baggage before that summer’s end. There is only one mark on her body that haunts her insecure thoughts more than her stretch marks. Among the small cuts and burns here and there, Lana has a scar that runs diagonally upward across her back from her left hip to her right shoulder. Lana has learned to cope with the bumps and bruises she acquires during her training and from her parents’ punishments and those marks do not phase her. It is the scars that she obtains outside of these reasons that cause her the most distress.
Her shoulders slump downward, although at least one is held higher than normal in a tensed position. This is because Lana has the tendency to walk with at least one hand planted firmly on her hip. Atop a long neck is Lana’s oval-shaped head, whose rounded chin does little to cover her neck and has earned her the unwanted nickname of “giraffe”. About an inch above her chin are her lips. They are naturally a light shade of pink and also thin. They have a slight upward turn about that that give the illusion that Lana is constantly smirking, although she does tend to be doing so a majority of the time. Her nose is also on the tinier side of the spectrum, with a straight downward sloping bridge.
Lana was born with almond shaped hazel eyes that, in most light. They seem to be placed high on her face because she has a comparatively small forehead, and are settled perfectly symmetrical on each side of her nose. Although Lana is exceptional at concealing her emotions, the only betrayal of her inner thoughts can be found in her eyes. Her eyes rarely lie. In fact, by looking deep into her eyes it is very easy to tell exactly what Lana is thinking. However, it isn’t deciphering her feelings that is the difficult part but rather getting close enough to her to get a good look at them. Even if Lana is not the type to hide her feelings and be two-faced, there are certain times in which a poker face is called for. In those moments, Lana finds herself in a predicament as she lacks the ability to conceal her emotions. Especially if that emotion happens to be rage.
Being overly self-conscious, presentation is everything to her. Every morning she is sure to put on natural make-up and fix her hair properly. Her relaxed chestnut brown curls extend three inches beyond her shoulders. Lana’s hair is surprisingly thin, as is common with curly hair. The curls provide the deception of volume and lead others to believe the hair is thicker than it truly is. Her peers can get a glimpse of how little hair the girl actually has when she straightens it or gets her hair wet, the former only done for special occasions.
Personality:
Lana parades around Hogwarts with the stereotypical air of Slytherin superiority. Despite spending the majority of her life not comprehending why her pureblood status inherently made her better than her peers, her demeanor does not reflect this. Her mother believes that constant lecturing will eventually lead to Lana’s acceptance of the concept of purity = superiority, and it would appear that this is true. Although Satine credits her success with Lana’s transformation to harsh physical and magical punishments, the truth is that it comes down to pride. Not pride for herself, but Satine being proud of Lana. Having always known that Satine never felt a maternal bond with her daughter, the one day that Satine showed any interest in Lana as a human changed the girl’s way of rationalizing decisions. Knowing that her mother was proud of her, that her mother had the capacity to love her, it all drove her to pretend she has little respect for muggle-borns. Even if she does not fully believe in it, it is as her mother dictates and thus how Lana will act. However, as the years pass by she has a difficult time trying to separate her true beliefs of equality with her act of superiority. With each day, she believes more what her mother says and less what her heart tells her.
Nothing irritates Lana more than when a girl thinks one way of a person and acts another way towards them, making Lana an extremely hypocritical person. She is, however, upfront about disliking people and will only censor his dislike when her privileges or detention are threatened If she believes a person is the scum of the Earth, she is likely to tell them so in hopes they will refrain from talking to her. However, if the conversation persists she is likely to turn violent. She has little tolerance for things she believes are wasting her time and, if words cannot gain her peace and solitude, she will undoubtedly draw her wand to silence the other person. Should things continue to the point where Lana feels simply ignoring will not suffice, insults and wand work are soon to follow. Lana does not, however, forgive and forget. Though she will never search for a fight, a bump in the hall or another attempt to speak with her will result in almost instantaneous fighting whether it is emotional, physical, or magical.
At home, Lana is ruled by her parents. She is manipulated into all that she does and all that she believes. When away in America, she found herself on the opposite side of the spectrum. Having found a passion her parents had little to no say over, she was able to enjoy her life. Ever since her accident and the sudden spike in her father’s overprotection, she found herself in the process of developing a new personality. Perhaps it was her desire to be a complete recluse the summer preceding Hogwarts or perhaps it was her wand gaining power over her soul, but something made her more willing to follow Satine’s example. Although she will never hurt an animal, she does not show this same pity for humans. While she will not even stun a creature, she would not hesitate to blast off someone’s arm if she could find a way to get away with it. She suffers from severe migraines, especially after engaging in conversation with someone of muggle-born status. Inside her mind, a battle wages between her good and bad conscious. The bad extends past merely judging on purity and often encompasses the desire to cast an Unforgivable. Always trying to find a middle ground, she is often brought to tears from the feeling that her skull will burst into a million bloody pieces.
She is unable to hide her feelings and tends to be on the impulsive side. A single frustration can cause her to go on a rampage throughout the school, terrorizing anyone who she knows not to be pure. Though if she is having a bad enough of a day, she will even attack (in some cases literally) a pureblood. To help with her emotions, she can often be found talking to herself. It keeps her thoughts in check and helps to calm herself. As long as she talks, she is less likely to cast spells. It keeps her mind from dwelling on her conflicting internal dialogue which in turn lessens her headaches and makes her a generally much more amiable person.
Lana has a soft spot for animals. She treats them with much more care and respect than she does her fellow human. Her fascination with dangerous animals such as the more aggressive dragons and basilisks will take her to the library for hours where she will read any book that mentions them. It is her hope to one day breed and control a basilisk. The ultimate way to prove her dedication to her family and to truly earn her mother’s pride.
History:
After five years of blissful matrimony, lavish parties, and enjoying the proximity of her family the pair was blessed with their first child (and last). In truth, Damien was the only one of the two who saw this child as a blessing. She was born in Kilkenny, Ireland while the two were on a business trip. Damien was hand-delivering a one of a kind ceremonial athame when things took a turn for the worst. There was a leak in the company as to their most elicit business and they had chosen now to make their move. Even more unfortunate was Satine’s insistence to go with her husband despite being almost eight months pregnant. A duel broke out in the customer’s home, with Damien and his customer against a dozen ministry officials. When a blasting spell was headed for Damien, Satine could not resist pushing him out of the way. It sent her flying into the corner of a table and the pain from the contact of table to her stomach caused her to pass out. The furious Damien went on a rampage, seriously injuring each of the officials before taking his wife to the nearest hospital. Satine woke up in time to find out that the blow to her stomach was causing her uterus to bleed and if they did not remove the baby, the blood would eventually cause too much pressure on the amniotic sac. The pressure could possibly kill the child, not to mention they had to operate on the uterus to stop the bleeding.
The doctors successfully removed the baby and were shocked that the moment they announced it to be a girl, the mother shunned it. It was not long before the baby’s premature age kicked in and her breathing became sporadic and harsh. They rushed the girl to the intensive care unit for newborns and, much to Satine’s dismay, Damien followed. Her disdain for Lana had been growing, but it spiked when the doctors told her that the ceserean section coupled with her injury had resulting in irreparable damage to her uterus. She would never have another child. Her hatred and slight jealousy for her daughter did not dissipate over the years and more than overrode her maternal instincts.
As a child, Damien spoiled Lana with the finer things in life and spent most of his time at home with the girl. Satine was much colder with Lana, but this was one problem that time would not solve. Lana was enrolled in a magical elementary school, but was soon spotted playing with a muggle-born child after school. Lana could not understand why her mother was lecturing her on the difference of blood and its apparent importance. Most unfortunately for Lana, she questioned her mother which resulted in a hard slap. That punishment was one that Lana soon began praying her mother would resort to. The sting of slap never compared to what came from the end of Satine’s wand, and never seemed to last as long afterwards. If it weren’t for Damien’s softer touch, Lana would have turned into a paranoid maniac or a completely psychotic killer. Damien preferred bribery, now cutting off Lana from the spoiled lifestyle she had. His constant splurging on his daughter and wife were cutting into his bank account, and his father was not in a hurry to hand the company over. Even when Damien took ownership, they would only be the upper crest of the middle class.
When Lana was ten years old, her mother locked her in the basement with a twelve foot long, over 250 pound green anaconda. Lana was told that the lesson of the day was to kill or be killed. The true test was not to see if she would kill the snake, but rather to see if she could communicate with it. It has been known that one or two of her great ancestors had the ability to commune with snakes, and it came to a surprise to her parents when they discovered Lana curled up with the snake, suggesting that she had received the rare magical ability from eons ago. There was, however, some disappointment for Satine who had hoped that the aggressive nature of the snake would have overruled its fear of Damien and maternal instincts thus resulting in Lana’s untimely death.
Growing up, Lana attended school as a foreign student in the United States. It was to broaden her horizons, make powerful connections in another country. Though Lana couldn’t help but suspect it was to keep her out of her parents’ business as they planned whatever it was they were planning. Her suspicions were correct as Damien and Satine were growing tired of the constant traveling. It provided too many opportunities for the enemies to find them. When Satine suggested sending Lana to America, Damien agreed as a measure to protect her. Satine had suggested it because the mere sight of her daughter sickened her. Lana did not contest the idea, relishing in the fact that there would be an entire ocean separating her from her mother’s punishments. While her friends were carted off to more infamous schools such as Durmstrang and other notable Bulgarian institutions, she was sent via plane to Salinas, California. Up until the end of her fifth year, she attended the same exclusive all girls’ magical prepatory school.
Her third year contained a plethora of surprises. Her father traveled to America on her birthday to present her with his family’s wand. An action that caused Satine’s dislike to return as it not only slowed Lana’s progress, but it was also making it difficult for her to cast spells she already mastered. With Satine being displeased with Lana, it was shocking that when she arrived home that summer she was presented with a gift. Lana never received anything ‘just because’ in her entire life, not even for her birthday. All gifts from Damien, as Satine never presented her daughter with gifts, had strings. This one was simply because he was proud of her accomplishments and perseverance with a wand that clearly wanted little to do with her. It was, even if Damien never told Lana, because the wand had also rejected him at first. Damien gained full control over the wand after six months, during which he showed much of the same spirit Lana was showing. Nothing could have made him prouder. To reward her, he presented her with the thing she wanted third most in the world. With the first being an Antipodean Opaleye dragon which was not going to happen and the ban on breeding basilisks, Lana found herself the newest owner of a three year old black Arabian stallion named Temptation.
Lana loved this horse more than anything, despite a tragic accident she experienced while riding him. Her father often accompanied her on rides through the heavily forested mountains behind their house. While she galloped on her horse, her father stayed close to her side on his broomstick. There was only one incident that her father did not join her. The two had planned a short ride up the mountainside when Damien was called away suddenly by his grandfather. He told Lana to go on without him and he would join her shortly. While riding her horse up the mountain, he was spooked by a snake and threw her off before Lana had a chance to shoo the snake. The force rolled her down a hill and off a shallow cliff. As she fell, a jagged rock slashed her diagonally upward across her back leaving a shallow, bloody gash from her left hip to her right shoulder. After the initial panic stage, Temptation calmed and went to look for Lana. He spotted her at the bottom of drop and he did not have a way of getting to her. The smart horse galloped back in the direction of the house, but it was not far before he saw Damien. Temptation led Damien to the place of Lana’s fall. Damien magically lifted her body and carried her home where he wrapped her back before taking her to the hospital. The wound never fully healed and left behind a scar that Lana is extremely embarrassed about. She feels that it is her own fault for not reacting to her horse as well as an experienced rider should have.
The rest of her summer was not much different from previous ones. The accident was rarely brought up. The only mention of it was when Satine was in an exceptionally foul mood and she used to it break Lana’s spirit. Even this was a rare occurrence and Lana had been broken by her failure. The wound made it difficult to ride and, without riding, she became extremely submissive to her parents. Satine found it easier than ever to get Lana to practice hexes and even to get the teenager to focus more on the Dark Arts. It was this sudden change of heart in their daughter that prompted conversations of bringing her home. Satine wanted her daughter closer so that she could continue her training, afraid that the American school would reignite her rebellious spirit. Her mother did not need to worry about such things, as Lana became reclusive. Even if her peers could not see her scar, Lana knew it was there. It made her constantly angry, and she directed her frustrations at every single person she came in contact with. The only people with the ability to talk her down were her teachers.
When Lana returned home from her sixth year at Miss Hollow’s, she was informed that her studies there were not to continue. As with most of her life-changing decisions, Lana was not provided with the true motivations behind it. Her parents said it was because they wanted to keep her close to home, to bond with her before she finally left them. The truth was Satine saw this as her last opportunity to completely mold her daughter into a muggle hating lover of the dark arts. Damien’s final decision was based on the fact his informant told him that Lana was under threat. A letter had been delivered that stated an anonymous person knew that Lana was attending school somewhere in the Monterey Bay Area. It was only a matter of time before he spotted her at a rodeo event or some other outing. At least if she was in Europe, Damien could protect her more easily.
The problem soon became which school to send her to. Satine looked Lana in the eyes and told her she wished she had birthed a boy as if the statement was news to her ears. Anyone with eyes and half a brain could have seen and pieced together that Satine wished Lana was born a male rather than a female. Her lack of male genitalia was the only thing standing between her and Durmstrang, as her mother often liked to remind her. Damien’s heart always sank a little at this comment, having always dreamed of sending a son to his school. Both Damien and Lana were shocked when Satine mentioned Hogwarts. It was a notable school and Satine’s sister had moved back to London when their mother passed away shortly before Satine and Damien’s engagement. Her sister never found time to have kids, and offered to keep a hawk’s watch on Lana when they decided to send her to Hogwarts.
