Family Interactions:
When it comes to relationships with family members, it depends on which family member you are talking about. When it comes to his parents, he respects them but also loathes them at times since they have such high expectations of their eldest son and child. Brody wants to prove himself to his mother and grandparents more than anything and show them that when it comes to heirs of the family grounds and fortunes , he is the one best suited for it. His parents want their son to excel, but they are quite concerned with him getting mixed up in the wrong crown when away as their son is quite impressionable when it comes to wanting to be accepted by others.
Brody is closer to his mother than his father simply because he wants to learn all the magic he can to use in the future to shape the world to his will and since his father is non-magical, well when it comes to his relationship with his dad, it is more strained than the one he has with his mother by a long shot. In a Brody is upset that because of his father’s muggle blood, he is not 100% pure since in his mind it seems that the purebloods have it easier in the magical world than mixed bloods or muggleborns. And because of that he has a little animosity toward him.
When it comes to his siblings, well Brody is fiercely protective of them, so much it drives his younger sister Sheena insane at times. She wants everyone to know that she isn’t a pathetic little girl that can’t stand up for himself and she feels that Brody always trying to fight her battles for her is stifling her development in that area. Though the two disagree on the role of a “Big Brother,” the two get along pretty well since they both are a bit ashamed their father is a muggle and both want to learn all they can when it comes to magic. As for his youngest brother, Craig, he is only two so a relationship between him and Brody hasn’t fully developed yet. Brody loves his little brother though he is jealous of him a bit because his parents spoil him rotten and is worried that he could perhaps end up being the heir in the future. Like with his sister Sheena, Brody is fiercely protective of his little brother.
When it comes to the rest of the living family, Brody is by far closest to his grandmother and grandfather on his mom’s side. Both are like second parents to him and they spoil him rotten. Not to mention they both have taught him some old Norse which he loves because he loves doing anything to find out more about his pureblooded heritage and learning old Norse spells and the language is a major part of that since that side of his family has its roots in that heritage group. When it comes to his cousins and aunt and uncle on his father’s side, he much rather socialize with them than anyone on his father’s disappointing muggle side.
When it comes to his muggle grandparents and his aunts and uncles on his father’s side, he prefers to avoid them at all cost. His grandparents don’t quite understand why Brody is so frigid with them and are trying to do anything they can to garner some respect from him, but aren’t succeeding very well. When it comes to his Aunt Claudia, he is a bit more tolerant of her than the rest of the members of his father’s side because she actually ended up having magical blood in her and attended Hogwarts where she was a Ravenclaw. She now is a Healer in Northern Scotland. As for his cousins on his father’s side, well Brody loves to mock, tease, and trick them because they don’t appear to have inherited any magical talent as is to be expected from muggle parents. When it comes to his two cousins on his mother’s side he is fiercely protective of Skye and loved to hang out with her. He likes her a lot because the two seem to have a lot in common and she is no threat to his becoming the Lobdale heir as being as traditionalistic as the Lobdales are, no female will ever become the recipient of the grounds and what not. They of course receive a large amount of money, but unless there is no male heir, the females will never become the inheritors.
Now that he has a cousin on his mother’s side named Collin, it is going to require much effort for Brody to be deemed the next heir, especially since the current heir is his Uncle Hector and Collin is his son. Unlike most families that follow the old ways, the Lobdales do no pass the fortune, etc. on to the eldest son of the current heir. Rather they determine the recipient via the one who seems most suited for it depending on their personality and accomplishments. Hence there has always been fierce competition among the Lobdale male children. One might ask if Uncle Hector is the current heir and only in his late forties, why is Brody working so hard to outdo everyone. The reason for this is that as soon as the deemed heir for the most recent generation turns 21, everything transfers over to the new heir as is the Lobdale tradition. That is exactly why Brody is so fiercely competitive.
Height:5ft 7in
Weight: 103 lbs
Hair: Short, Dark Brown
Eyes: Light Blue
Skin Colour: Light skin
Clothing style: Brody prefers the darker colors of forest green, black, midnight and navy blue, and maroon simply because those colors tend to suit his mood more often than the cheery colors of yellow, white, and orange. He thinks the darker colors go better with his hair and make his eyes, which he thinks are his best feature, stand out more. He prefers wizarding clothing to muggle clothing because, well he simply prefers wizarding things to non-magical things, including clothing. He likes to wear black sneakers the most, but when it calls for formality, he will wear pristine, black, leather shoes. When he does wear muggle clothing, he opts for collared shirts and sweaters rather than t-shirts. He just likes looking proper at all times.
Accessories: Underneath his clothing he wears an 18 karat gold male chain with a pendant of the runic symbol of Algiz, also known as Yr his grandparents on his mother’s side gave him when he first received the letter to Hogwarts. He always wears it because his grandparents told him they used a very old Norse spell of protection on it to help protect their eldest grandchild while he is away at school and as reminder to always be true to his heritage-at least the magical heritage side at any rate. Though there is no proof that the protection spell placed on it really works, Brody likes to think it is and is forever grateful to his grandparents for giving it to him. It is his most prized possession.

Paragraph Format:
Brody is of average height and build for a boy his age. He is not extremely muscular, but is toned. He is rarely seen smiling as he has always been a very serious child. He wears dark clothing because he feels that those clothes suit his mood more often than anything else and firmly believes by wearing such dark clothes, the light blue of his eyes is much more conspicuous and enchanting. He thinks his light blue eyes are his best physical feature. Brody also wears dark clothing because he likes to blend in with the background outside of his academic accomplishments. That may change as he gets older, but right now that is the way things are. He has short dark brown hair, though on the ends when the sunlight hits it just right, the ends appear to be more of a light reddish brown.
As mentioned earlier, Brody prefers wizarding garb to muggle clothing and is more often seen wearing wizarding robes than muggle clothing. However, sometimes the bulky robes become a bit heavy for him and as a result he will put on a pair of crisply ironed black or dark tan pants paired with a collared dark colored shirt or sweater. It all depends on the temperature. Honestly, Brody is rarely seen wearing casual clothes such as blue jeans or shorts or a t-shirt. The reason for that is simple-in his mind a proper heir (which he is striving to become) should always dress impeccably and nicely. He cannot stand sloppiness in anything, so it is to be expected he is always dressed impeccably and more formal than most people. He does have black sneakers that he will put on if exploring outside or the many towers and corridors at Hogwarts, but at all other times he has a smart pair of semi-formal, black leather dress shoes on.
Personality:
In a nutshell Brody is a very proud, serious, calculating, ambitious, and intelligent boy. He loves devouring any and all knowledge he can, but it isn’t just for the sake of gathering knowledge. Rather he wants to know about everything so he can shape the world around him to his own will one day. His greatest goal to accomplish right now is to securely snatch the tile of heir to the Lobdale grounds, fortunes, archives, etc. over his younger cousin Collin. This is a tall order as the current heir to the Lobdale fortunes, grounds, archives, etc. is his grandparent’s only son Hector and Brody’s uncle. His uncle has a young son named Collin who is only 3 and in order to snatch the fortune for himself, Brody has to outshine Collin in every way, shape, and form possible. And being the older grandson, Brody considers him to be at a little bit of a disadvantage since whatever he accomplishes will be completed before his cousin becomes an adult, so Brody has to do everything he can to excel in everything and prove to them he is the best choice for inheriting such things.
Doing such a thing has become an eerie obsession of sort for Brody. Really he should probably spend more time proving to his own parents he is the best person to inherit the McNamara fortune, but truth be told, that doesn’t matter as much to Brody as the Lobdale fortune because the McNamara fortune and what not is found in the non-magical world and Brody wishes he could get rid of his muggle parentage and trade it for a magical one.
Brody though rather proud is fiercely loyal to his family, at least the magical part of it. He loves his dad and respects him somewhat for what he has accomplished as being the Chief Judge in the muggle world, but he also loathes that he is a muggle. Brody is fiercely protective of his siblings, grandparents (mother’s side of course only), mother, and cousins (again only the cousins on his mother’s side) and would do practically anything to ensure their safety.
When it comes to the ‘other’ side of his family, the truth of the matter is he is relatively indifferent to a majority of them. He of course respects his father and strives to meet his expectations for his oldest son, but would never put his own life, his mother’s or basically anyone on his mother’s side life in danger to protect them. He thoroughly adores pranking and tormenting his cousins on his father’s side relentlessly. Whenever he is in a bit of a somber mood, tormenting or pranking them seem to always cheer him up some.
Brody is manipulative, cunning, and sly when the time calls for it. He rarely jumps headfirst into anything and is quite calculating when it comes to getting even with someone who hurt him or his siblings. He thinks before he acts and tries to always have a back-up plan ready in case something happens. Though he is extremely loyal to his siblings, mother, grandparents (mother’s side only), and cousins (mother’s side only), the same cannot be said for his friends. He truly believes that ‘casual friends’ are dispensable if the time calls for it. However, if someone does find him or herself in his inner circle, and considered a ‘close or best friend’ he will not betray them as long as he or she doesn’t betray Brody.
Brody can come off as being overly serious in life and that as a result has caused Brody to have very few people ever fall in the ‘close or best friend’ categories. He thinks life is one giant chess match. Brody is pretty introverted so very few people have made an effort to befriend him. Brody can come off as thinking he is superior to everyone else, but he doesn’t mean to be. He just wants to succeed in life using any means necessary. Brody when provoked enough, has a very nasty temper and will lash at people physically, verbally, or mentally if provoked enough. And when it comes to getting even with those people that do provoke him enough or hurt someone he cares tremendously about, they better watch out. Revenge will come and they never know when or in what form it will come. Basically if you are on Brody’s good side and do nothing to hurt someone here cares deeply about, he will accept you just the way you are-regardless of House, bloodline, heritage, etc.
History:
To get a full understanding of the history of the Lobdale and McNamara clans one has to travel back in time to well over a thousand years ago when the Vikings first set food in what today is known as southern Scotland and northeast England and first began settling in the area that is known today as the UK’s highest village Wanlockhead. When the Vikings first arrived, it is believed that magical and non-magical folk lived in harmony and completely aware of the other group’s presence. In the early days, it is believed that the witches and wizards of the time were the protectors of the village and its homes, buildings, and ships while the non-magical folk were the architects and manual laborers. The magical and non-magical folk lived and worked collectively to ensure the success of their settlements. As a result there was much intermingling and joining among magical and non-magical families. Unfortunately today there are no written accounts of such things. Among these unions were two families, the Lobdales and the McNamaras. The Lobdales were a proud magical clan, but very loyal to their friends. Among those friends were the McNamaras. It is believed that the patriarchs of both families, Olaf Krister Lobdale and Sven Lars McNamara were the best of friends. Sven was a very talented boat builder and the McNamaras claim that it was he who built the ship that brought the first settlers of to Wanlockhead.
Olaf Krister Lobdale is believed to have been very strong in protective magic and gifted in elemental magic, his element of choice being water. As a result using this very old magic he made sure everyone aboard that didn’t die from sickness arrived safely to the new land. Both families were extremely grateful for the other and the two families became the best of friends.
Hundreds and hundreds of years past and the community of Wanlockhead lived in harmony with one another. However, that changed with the arrival of missionaries. These missionaries traveled from the more ‘civil’ areas of what is known today as the United Kingdom and tried to convert the barbarians to prevent their souls from being damned. Their arrival at first was quite unwelcomed as all that they preached went against the old ways, but eventually with the knowledge of other things the missionaries brought, they soon gained acceptance and the ‘barbarians’ accepted the new religion the missionaries brought with them. That was when the rift between magical folk and non-magical really began. It happened slowly at first but with the arrival of the middle ages the rift exploded and magical folk were soon accused of being aligned with the devil as disease, famine, and various other sicknesses plagued not only the settlers but people all throughout Europe. Innocent witches and wizards were drowned, tortured, burned at the stake, etc. It got so bad that magical folk of Wanlockhead abandoned the village, stopped placing their protective charms and what not on its buildings and settled about 10 kilometers away from the original Wanlockhead and formed their own community which they hid using magical means from non-magical folk. People that were magical and were joined in holy matrimony to a non-magical spouse were given a choice to either come with the rest of the magical folk to the new village or remain. If they decided to remain, all ties to their families that chose to leave and join the other magical folk in their own utopia were cut and soon groups of magical folk were sent to the muggle town and used old magic to wipe the minds of those that knew of the existence of magic and the history of the past. They used old Norse magic to do such things as it appeared that this magic had less side effects of obliviate. The new magic folk only village was renamed Warlockhead and hidden from all non-magical folk. They set up their own government, courts, etc. and the little village is still in existence today. Other towns and villages followed Warlockhead’s suit and as a result an entirely alternate universe of sort was established and is still in existence today. As the years marched on, any written accounts of the once peaceful relationships among witches, wizards, and muggles became hidden.
During the reign of terror times when Voldemort and his Death Eaters were raging havoc on the wizarding and muggle world, Brody’s parents did their utmost to remain completely neutral because they were conflicted. On one hand, the Lobdales wanted to gain as much power and influence as possible and at the time, before Brody’s parents were wed, believed muggles, muggleborns, and mixed bloods were inferior. On the other hand, they never advocated the use of the dark Arts and believed that anyone who partook in such things were indeed aligned with the devil and damned for eternity. This mentality however, did not really come into play until the Middle Ages. Before then it would not surprise Brody or anyone on his mother’s side that their ancient relatives were not above using Dark Arts to protect their friends and loved ones.
This leads us to the modern-day era. The once very close families of Lobdale and McNamara went on with their lives and appeared that one would never know of the other’s existence or the early relationships between them for an eternity. But there is a funny little thing called fate that likes to throw everyone for a loop once in a while. It all starts with a large community park and Sheena Fiona Lobdale, her Crup and Duncan Ian McNamara and his Jack Russell Terrier. It was a beautiful, late spring, full moon evening and after getting off her shift as a magical healer for Warlockhead’s only magical clinic, Sheena decided to take her Crup for a walk. As was required by wizarding law she had gotten the tail of her dear beloved Crup named Freya removed when she was seven weeks old and had gotten her license that showed she could control her pet in muggle-inhabited areas.
Duncan Ian McNamara was a judge in Wanlockhead and had just finished ruling on a particularly tough murder case and needed some fresh air. Hence why as soon as he got off, he ate dinner, showered, and changed into normal clothing and took his jack Russell Terrier known as Thor for a walk. As Fate would have it, the place he took his dog was the same place Sheena had decided to take her Crup. Freya was behaving herself wonderfully, courtesy of a Potion that calmed the aggressiveness of a Crup when it came to muggles and all seemed well. That was until Thor spotted Freya and her mistress Sheena. Thor yanked and pulled until he escaped his harness and then literally jumped all over Sheena and her Crup, so much that Sheena ended dup falling down on her bottom. To say the least she was not pleased and spat at Duncan about how that dog of his needed a good whipping and some serious training. Duncan was extremely embarrassed and apologized profusely to the beautiful blonde woman in front of him and offered to take her out for coffee and dessert to an outdoor café in Wanlockhead, his treat of course to apologize. He hoped she would agree because she was quite stunning. Sheena was always raised to be a perfect lady so it was improper to turn the man’s offer down. She reluctantly agreed and together the four of them went to an outdoor café and began to talk. Never in a million years did Sheena think she would fall for a muggle man, but it was happening. Duncan was quite charming and she was falling for him. The two continued to date for three years. Sheena knew how her parents felt about muggles so she hid the fact that she was dating a muggle for all three of those years. But after those three years, things were going to get quite interesting. Exactly three years from their first meeting in that community park that fateful May evening, in the same exact spot Duncan first met Sheena, Duncan proposed to Sheena. Now things were about to get extremely complicated. Sheena had completely fallen head-over-heels in love with Duncan and she wanted to marry him, but how was she going to tell him that she was a witch and how would she ever get her parents to accept him? It was going to get very nasty. She could have eloped, but she cared for her parents and relatives too much. Being cut off for them would kill her inside so she knew she would have to tell them. She accepted Duncan’s proposal but threw in a qualifier.
“I would love to marry you Duncan, but there is something you need to know about my family and me and why you never could find me working in the clinic in Wanlockhead. I’m a witch Duncan. My father is a wizard and my mother a witch too. I work in the medical field most definitely, but it is as a Magical healer in an all wizarding village not too far from here. I’ve never introduced you to them because they are extremely prideful and traditional. They believed non-magical folk are inferior and forbade me to ever befriend someone who isn’t magical, a muggle. That is what non-magical folk are called in our world. All these years I have been able to hide that I was dating a muggle from them and I knew that this would come one day. I never knew how I would break the news to my parents. I love you and want to be with you, but at the same time I would die inside if I could never be in contact with my own family. I don’t know what to do.”
At first Duncan didn’t believe it. It seemed just too far-fetched to be realistic, but he listened intently. He loved Sheena more than anything and proposed that Sheena take him to her parents so that he could state his case for marrying her and prove to them that muggles weren’t so bad. Sheena doubted her parents would be receptive to such a proposition, but she agreed that perhaps this was their only choice. Two weeks later Duncan met Sheena’s parents for the first time and didn’t seem to be reaching them. However, he wasn’t going to give up, neither was Sheena. Sheena’s parents forbade their daughter to see the man again and made sure she didn’t see him again for a few weeks. Sheena was distraught and became quite depressed. It got to be so bad that she stopped eating so much she became quite sickly. It was at this point her parents knew that if they kept this up their daughter would most likely die, so reluctantly agreed to let Sheena see Duncan and go on with plans for marriage. Duncan all the while had continued to do what he could to prove himself to Sheena’s parents and after an engagement of two years, both of which Duncan and Sheena moved into together, the two were wed in a small ceremony in the Lobdale family chapel on their grounds and the reception took place in the middle of the massive gardens. Due to the regulations of the Ministry of Magic when it came to keeping muggles oblivious to magic, besides Duncan’s immediate family-his parents and siblings, no muggle was allowed to come to the first ceremony. A second ceremony however was done in the local church of Wanlockhead so Duncan’s friends could come. It required a lot of work on behalf of Sheena’s and Duncan’s parents, but it all worked out in the end. For their honeymoon, Duncan and Sheena traveled to the land of their ancestors, Norway for two weeks. It was there Brody Ian McNamara was conceived.
Brody Ian McNamara was born February 15 and it appeared that he was going to be the shoe-in for being the heir to the Lobdale Grounds, Fortune, & Archives since Brody’s Uncle Hector and Aunt Marnie were having much difficulty in conceiving themselves. And because of that at a very young age Brody was groomed to be a perfect gentleman and heir. The same came true when Brody’s younger sister Sheena was born four years after Brody. Because he was the eldest grandchild on both sides, he was spoiled rotten by both sides and he loved every minute of it. His Aunt Marnie and Uncle Hector eventually conceived and had a daughter named Skye, but she was no threat to Brody so he has a very good, strong relationship with her. However, in the past three years things have changed dramatically. His Aunt Marnie and Uncle Hector paid a bundle to have fertilization potions and what not because they wanted one other child and unfortunately for Brody they worked and his aunt and uncle have given birth to a son named Collin. Collin is currently 3. Unfortunately for Brody, that was not the last male child born to the Lobdale family. His parents gave birth to a son name Craig two years ago. So now instead of having no competition and being a shoe-in for the title of heir, he has two very young competitors, his own little brother and his cousin.
Brody Ian McNamara for the first five years of his life remained at home with his mother who took an extended leave of absence from her job to make sure she raised her eldest child right. When Brody turned 6, there was a debate among his grandparents on how he should be educated-tutored at home in magic and with private tutors or go to his father’s and grandparents’ alma mater boarding school Dollar Academy in Clackmannanshire. There was a fierce argument between both sides of the family, but eventually a compromise was reached. Since it seemed quite obvious to Brody’s mother and her parents that Brody had magical abilities, they knew he would be offered a position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry when he turned eleven, so the agreement was from age 6-10 Brody would go to Dollar Academy for school and get a little tutoring in magic when he came home for the breaks, but when he was eleven he would go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. And so that was exactly what happened. Thankfully while he was at his muggle boarding school, nothing too significant courtesy of him being a wizard really happened. He however was very quiet during his time at Dollar academy and felt a little out of place. He did well academically and the only time there was an incident with magic came when he was playing his school’s rival in a Football Soccer) Championship. Brody was going up for the game winning goal when his fierce competitiveness kicked in and a little magic came out. The other team’s goalie looked like he was going to stop the goal but out of nowhere suddenly a root poked out of the ground and caused the goalie to trip and fall, and Brody’s goal sailed in handing Dollar Academy the win. No one knew how a stray root was not caught during the pre-game inspection of the field to make sure it was safe to play on. At the end of the game, the root had mysteriously gone underground again and everyone scratched their heads for a few moments before calling the fall of the goalie just a fluke accident and it was likely he hadn’t tripped on anything at all except his own feet. And that was the end of that. At dollar Academy Brody felt out-of-place and had very few friends, but he managed. He never was a behavior problem at school, his teachers were just concerned at how quiet he was outside of classes. But nothing ever came out of that either.
At age 11, as expected Brody, received the invite to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There he seemed to feel much more at home and made a lot more friends than he had at Dollar Academy. He strived to excel in all subjects ad for the most part he did pretty well. He got above average marks in DADA, Potions, Charms, & Transfiguration, and average marks in everything else. He never did do extremely well in classes that required tons of memorization and reports such as Astronomy & History of Magic, but Brody never gave up and continues to do his utmost to bump those average marks up to above average ones. His strengths are by far Charms, Potions, & Transfiguration. He enjoys COMC, Ancient Runes, & Arithmancy, but despises History of Magic and Astronomy.
At school he was determined to land a spot on his House Quidditch Team since he loved sports so much and in his first year he managed to land a sport as an alternate for his House’s teams. He never played in a ton of games, but he was happy. In his second year he was bumped up from alternate to starting Keeper and Brody was ecstatic. He did pretty well, but didn’t really enjoy playing keeper. He longed to play Chaser or Beater or Seeker one day. But he never gave up as Keeper and in his third year they started trying him in different positions. He hopes this year he will find himself solidly as a starting Chaser or Beater.
All through his time thus far at Hogwarts, all that he does has roots in his one ambition to be deemed the heir of the Lobdale fortune, archives, lands, and mansion. When not at Hogwarts, Brody, his parents and siblings live in a good sized house on the Lobdale grounds while his grandparents on his mother’s side and his mother’s brother and sister-in-law and their children live in the actual mansion since as of right now Uncle Hector is the current heir. Time will only tell what happens.
