For any one who had not known Keaira O'Connell for long, finding her working at Zonko's Joke Shop might seem weird. However, for those that knew her, they were well aware of how fitting a store like that was for her. Keaira O'Connell was no stranger to practical jokes and the like. Those that knew this were a lucky few, and the ones she could honestly call friends. Purely out of a need to do something that was not school orientated, and did not involve the shadow wars, Keaira had taken the opportunity to apply for the position with the joke store that she had frequented many times.
Taking the job, was something that Keaira had decided she needed to do. Alessandro was, to say the least, different, as such, it seemed important that she give the boy she cared for a certain amount of space. She felt as if the ground under her feet had crumbled when she discovered that Alessandro had no recollection of the times they had spent together. He had no memory of the afternoon by the lake, near the Juniper tree, no hint of the night before she left for China. He couldn't even recall the evening of the Masquerade, where they shared their first kiss. It pained her beyond all measure that the precious memories that they had formed together were only known to her now.
Then there was also the slight complication that Zane had thrown at here that night in the Astronomy tower. Were those impulsions simply a product of his mind, or were they a reminder of her loneliness? Would the thought of his arms around her holding her tight ever leave her? Or would she be troubled with the idea that she might never feel the press of his lips as she had thought they would feel. She wasn’t quite sure where those thoughts had truly come from or why she couldn’t get the images out of her head, but she knew that until she did it was best to avoid him as much as possible. After all there was no reason to put herself in another situation where the mental connection they shared would allow their thoughts a feelings to feed off of one another.
With such things to plague her mind, Keaira knew that a job would more than ease her mind from the troubles of school, but also from the troubles of the shadow wars. As Keaira stood behind the counter at the store she mused over some of the perks that the job had given her. The uniform standards were very lax, as she was merely required to wear good dress robes, and her name tag. Aside from the easy uniform Keaira also was able to enjoy the casual use and demonstration of the many products that the store afforded her.
As she waited for a customer to enter the shop Keaira spent her time playing with Portable Black Holes, Insulting Ink, and various other things including a small sampling of sweets that Zonko's had recently began carrying. As she sat there she popped a small sweet in her mouth. With in a few seconds steam began pouring straight out of her ears. It must have been an amusing site, but the sweet was delicious. A smile poured over her face, as she looked toward the door, waiting for a person to stop by.
