Name: Alecto Keaira Alya O'Connell. However, most every one calls her Keaira, because very few people know her first name is Alecto. Sometimes she answers by O’Connell, or Connell
Age: 15
Birth date: Oct 16
Year: 5th
Gender: Female
Nationality:Irish
Speech English and Latin.
Appearance: [Written]
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 138 lbs
Face: her face is quite round and her complexion is exceptionally clear and evenly toned.
Skin: as noted below she has some freckles but not the amount one would expect with Irish blood, her face is however very pale.
Hair color: brown, mahogany
Hair length: short and sculpted
Eyes: a greenish brown
Eye shape: large and more oval than anything else
Birthmarks: she has some freckles but none on her face
Appearance: [Picture]
Clothing style: She tends to wear a lot of darker colors because they compliment her pale skin tones. Also, she wears a lot of reds so that her green eyes shine through better. She has an affinity towards the current trends, which tends to dictate what she is actually wearing style wise. Her round face is often complimented by slightly cherry lips, and lavender eye shades, all to match with the teardrop earrings that she tends to wear. When dressing up for something you are most likely to see her in something that forms to her body, showing off her nice curves, and probably something strapless. Most of her dress robes vary in shades of greens, reds and purples, all of which she feels attract the proper attention to herself.
Her jewelry is primarily limited to a locket that her grandmother gave her for her 11th birthday, although she is often seen with earrings that dangle. It has been passed down though her family for many generations and was actually owned by Merlin Ambrosius’s daughter Keaira. When opened it does not hold a picture but instead the words “For my little dark one, may you always follow a pure path. – M.A. & V.A.” The necklace tingles and warms slightly when the wearer is about to become involved with something inherently evil, or bad. It acts as a warning, and in cases in which the wearer was not the primary cause of the evil it works as a protective charm, reflecting or absorbing hexes like the Protego Totalum spell that acts like a shield from hexes and curses.
Family: Her father’s name is Anapos O’Connell. Whose family history can be traced back through generations of pure blood wizards and witches to a man named Boreas Notus O’Connell, who married a young woman named Invidia Vulpecula O'Dwyer by those in Ireland, and Invidia Vulpecula Black by those in England. His family has never once felt the pains of cleaning their own manors, and they have never felt the pain of cooking their own food, and therefore their personalities tend to show that. Anapos has many connections in the wizarding world, including several ministry officials, a few professors, and high ranking healers at St. Mongos. Anapos was the eldest male of his 4 siblings’ one brother and 3 sisters. And as his brother did in a badly matched duel, he was the only one left to inherit his fathers’ wealth. As part of his family tradition all of the children of the house have been named after members of the Greek pantheon, and after a star or constellation. Alecto and Tisiphone are both goddesses of revenge, and Alya is a star in the constellation Serpens. And Astraea, one of Tisiphone’s middle names is a star in the constellation Virgo. Which is fitting as her birth date is August 28, and she falls under virgo.
Her mothers name is Cyanne Kayleen Lennox, and her genealogy can be trace back entirely with pure blood, even further back than Merlin Ambrosius whose birth was around 535, the self same wizard who counseled King Arthur. Although many people would pride themselves upon such knowledge Cyanene is not a prideful woman. The knowledge that she is decendent from such a prestigious line is enough in her mind. She feels no need to prove herself and her abilities to any of those around her. Her mothers name is derived from the words graceful and pure lordly one. This is very much befitting her demeanor and personality, as well as her lithe and nimble frame. Cyanne was the youngest of three, and the only daughter. So quite by accident she was spoiled.
Cyannes mother, Keaira Artemis Lennox was the last owner of the necklace that was passed down very recently to Alecto. Every other generation on her mothers’ side of the family has a daughter that is given the name of Keaira, which translated means “little dark one”, to pass the necklace to. As well as the necklace Artemis also left her daughter and granddaughter a number of items that have been traced back to origins in the early 5th century. Most of these items are jewelry or wardrobe accessories, befitting the grace and beauty of the girl that wears it. However, possessions were not the only thing to be passed through the family. Alecto's grandmother was gifted in transfiguration; however this gift was truly notable in her ability to change herself. Artemis was what people call a metamorphmagus, a person with the unusual ability to alter their own appearances. Soon after Cyannes birth it was very evident that she had not inherited this gift from her mother, but then came Cyannes daughters...
Keaira’s parents have always been happily married with very few problems for the entirety of their relationship. They have never spoke of separating, and still enjoy having quiet getaways with each other. Particularly when their children are at school they have been known to disappear to the Caribbean for months on end before showing back up in time for school break.
Keaira is the oldest child; she has a younger sister who was born the year that Keaira turned 3. August 28th was the day that Tisiphone joined the family. The dynamics of the relationship between the girls is actually quite good now, but at the start of their sisterhood there were many problems. When Keaira was 2 she began to show signs of magical ability, however the most memorable of these outbursts of magic occurred when Tisiphone was brought home. Keaira had been feeling resentment and anger at her parents for having another child. And it all cumulated when she first saw the girl. As jealousy and anger pulsed through her veins poor Tisiphone began to screech in pain. Boils and sores erupted all over her body, pulsing and oozing, as the infant wiggled and flailed. It was only after her father had made her leave the room did the baby stop crying, and the boils stopped growing. Tisiphone was left with some small reminders of her sisters’ jealousy for the rest of her life.
As a family they interact well with each other keeping traditions and making new ones for the future generations. Each year in the fall, her parents would grow a hedge maze for the children to play in. they would get lost in it and then would have to rely on each other to escape before dark. It was a great family bonding experience. Then each spring the gardens would be turned in to a splendid and enchanted area, for which to host the masquerade ball that they would arrange for the Easter holiday.
Celeb Claim: Nora Zehetner
Bloodline: [Pure, Half-blood, Muggleborn] Pure blood as far back as the 5th century.
History: Kearia has never had to worry about anything in her whole life when it came to possessions. Her parents own the Thornhill manor in Hollymount, Ireland, and with that much land and that many rooms to wonder about in she was never board. There were always new stories to tell, and things to explore. She didn’t run out of rooms to memorize until her 6th birthday and then she had the trees and the fields and the hills and the gardens to explore. She always had the top of the line supplies and toys. For her 8th birthday she got her first broomstick that actually flew more than 3 feet above ground. And she found it hard to keep with in the 55 acres of her fathers land.
Much of her life has been very easy. And although she has never been forced to, she is very good at cooking. Her grandmother spent a lot of time teaching her about the ways that a woman and show her appreciation for a man. One of the biggest things her grandmother stressed was that if you could cook for the man, then they may appreciate that more than anything else.
Her home life has always been comfortable, with very little to worry about. When she was young she was home schooled by a privet tutor, Professor McGovern, who not only covered basic potions, charms, defense, and flying techniques, but also, mathematic, sciences, Latin, and History including the effects of muggles on the wizarding community since the beginning of the 3rd century. Although she is not entirely fluent in Latin she can read it quite well and has realized that many of the spells that she has been taught have roots in Lain.
Due to her privet studies she arrived at Hogwarts capable of doing some second and third year magic. It had helped her to reach this stage of her studies with general ease. Although she could be the top student in her class she has often found herself overcome by some other student. She is a good flier, although there are plenty of people that are much better than her.
What however, is most uncommon information about Keaira is as to why she was home schooled as a child instead of being sent to a primary school. Most people who know of her homeschooling generally decide it was simply because her family could afford to pay a privet tutor, or because her parents didn't want her intermingling with the wrong crowd. While, both assumptions hold grains of truth neither is the true reason behind it. The real reason is however much more of a problem for the family. At the young age of two Keaira began showing signs of magical ability, something her parents were both quite proud of, however, there was something that they didn't expect to surface a mere two years later.
When Keaira was around age 4 strange things began happening. It started out small. Finishing peoples conversations, even people she had never met. Knowing answers to questions she never had studied before. At first her mother and father were proud of their daughter, she was so intelligent. Then things changed. She began knowing when people were lying, or when they did things they should never had done. By age 5 however, what had started out as finishing people sentences, had grown in to something of larger proportions. She began speaking to her parents, telling them that she heard voices in her head, how she knew what people were thinking, sometimes before they knew themselves. At first they decided that Keaira was simply looking for more attention, so they spent more time with her, bought her more things. But that didn't stop it.
It was only after Keaira began to tell her grandfather about what was going on that she began to learn what it was that she was capable of. After mentioning it to her grandfather one afternoon, he sat her down to talk about the strange occurrence. It was at that point that Keaira discovered the secret that her grandfather had kept to himself for nearly his entire life. He was a telepath, and it seemed that Keaira had acquired that same talent. At that point in her life she began training herself to control what she knew would forever be a burden. Her grandfather sat down and explained it all to her parents, telling them about his secret, and how he had dealt with it through his life.
It was on that night that everything changed. Keaira began learning about meditation and the concept of Karma from her grandfather in an attempt to help her learn more about controlling her own mind. Some days were better than others as is the case when learning to live with any sort of condition. In the beginning she found that she could not stay focused if there were more than 10 people within a 25 yard radius. There were many times that she fainted due to the overwhelming sensation that covered her mind if too many people were present. But with time she began to cope with her affliction. She adapted, and eventually she learned to separate her mind from the voices that surrounded her, blocking out the unwanted thoughts that surrounded her every day. There were of course some set backs. When she was still new to blocking out others, her parents took her out for a day trip shopping in a small town. What they did not expect was to see their little girl, collapse in the streets when she could no longer hold the peoples minds at bay.
After that night she spent several weeks in the hospital, suffering from a slight coma. Upon waking her grandfather took her on a quiet trip where they could focus more on what she needed to learn to do. Nearly four months after her grandfather took her away she returned to her family, able to defend her mind from the intrusions of others. By this time she was nearly nine and would soon be on her way to Hogwarts. For the next year she spent most of her free time working to control her abilities. Falling back on meditation, and calming drafts more often than not. During the time she spent away with her grandfather, she learned many things, advanced forms of occulemency, the best ways to meditate, and most importantly how to brew calming drafts. During her time at Hogwarts she would be exposed to far more minds than she was accustomed to. As such, extra measures were put in to place, each night before sleeping a calming draft would be provided to her, mixed with a specialized herbal tea. The single does would help keep her mind fortified when it was at its weakest, during sleep. Her meditations would become a large part of her routine. Ensuring that she had time to clear her mind before sleep, and before classes.
Her first year at Hogwarts was a difficult one for her, not because of classes, but because of the volume of the students around her. School work came naturally to her as she had already been taught many of the beginning spells that they worked on during the early years. On her 11th birthday, which occurred shortly after beginning her first year at Hogwarts, her grandmother came to the school, and took her out for a day. The pair had a great time, and at the end of the night, when it was just the two of them, Grandmother Artemis, passed what was once her grandmothers necklace, down to Keaira. It was a beautiful golden locket, which when opened held a message, that was delivered only to the first born female of every other generation. It was a gift that Keaira would treasure every day of her life.
Her first year melded in to her second, and before she knew it, it was time to begin her third year at Hogwarts. It was during the last week of summer vacation that her grandfather had decided to surprise her with a treat. Keaira had never been to a muggle carnival, and her grandfather had decided to take her to one. The evening had been one of the most memorable nights of her life. She had tried new delicious muggle treats, been on every ride that the fair had to offer, and played many of the simple games that resulted in winning small stuffed animals. Keaira had found the entire night to be magical, even though they had not used magic at all. However, as with all great nights, eventually they must end. For this night, the end would be far worse than any other she had ever experienced.
When the pair had done everything that the fair had to offer it was time for them to head home. It was well past midnight by then, and it was much too late for a girl of 12 years old to be out, even in the company of her grandfather. The plan was for the two of them to apperate as soon as they were a safe distance away from the muggle fair. The only problem was, the pair were being followed. As Keaira and her grandfather were preparing to turn and disappear, a loud bang pierced the night, and Keaira was thrown to the ground. The stuffed animals that had been won through the night were scattered about. Disorientated, and dazed, Keaira didn't realize when she had been roughly lifted off the ground. Some one was speaking, the voice was fuzzy, and garbled, but slowly cleared, much like her head. A man held her up, and shook her, he demanded something from her grandfather. Her grandfather pleaded to him, to let Keaira go. A cold metal object was placed to her temple as the man said to do what they said or he would kill him, and save the girl for some fun.
Keaira was helpless, as the man threatened to harm them. She listened as her grandfather tossed his money to the men, and she listened in horror as two loud bangs exploded from the metal object that was now pointed at her grandfather. She tried to scream as she heard her grandfather cry out in pain, but she could not. Tossed to the ground, Keaira was once again dazed by the impact. She tried to crawl over too where her grandfather lay but was soon pinned to the ground by one of the men. Her shirt was torn off, as the men hovered above her, they were going to do as they promised, or at least, they had planned to. Sirens were head approaching, and the men decided that their plans would not work. She looked to her grandfather, and struggled against the fear that was surrounding her. A shot rang through the air, and her left shoulder exploded in pain. She screamed, and looked at the men that hovered above her still. The gun was aimed again, and another shot pierced the night. This time however, it did not puncture her skin. A warm glow surrounded her, and the bullet rippled through it slowly and then stopped. The men looked at the bullet and heard the sirens coming closer. With nothing more to try they ran.
Keaira struggled to crawl to her grandfather, breathing hard as she did,As she reached him she saw his wand was pointed at her. Sobbing she begged to go home, wishing that he would just get up and go with her. His eyes were sad as he looked at his granddaughter, and made her promise to be strong, and be safe. When she did he closed his eyes, and was gone. Violently sobbing, she threw herself on to his body, crying for him to come back. Her shoulder slowly bleed, and mixed in to the pool that was collecting beneath their bodies. As she laid there the last thing she saw before blacking out and succumbing to the darkness was the image of a pure white teddy bear, stained in blood.
It was nearly two weeks later that she woke up in a hospital. What remained of her family was there, praying for their little girl to wake up. Happiness and sadness fused in the air, as her eyes opened her mother ans father rushed to her side. Tears fell freely from their eyes as their little girl said her first words in two weeks. "Grandfather?" Her mother looked away, and the fresh tears that welled up in her eyes were the only answer she needed. Her father turned away and came back with a small poorly wrapped brown package. A small note was attached to it on her grandfathers handwriting. “For my little dark one, to help you in your evenings just tell it to ‘play’.” With out opening the package she knew that her grandfathers final gift was his meditation flute. ready to help her in her time of grief.
Two short weeks later Kearia was sent to school for her third year. She chose to deal with her grief by throwing herself in to her school work. Some of her best grades were received in her third year, as she focused every ounce of her being in to working hard at school. She passed each class with high marks, and when she returned home for the summer she threw herself into other things. By the beginning of her fourth year she had built up a reputation of being on par with most of the ravenclaws that attended the school. Working for her grades harder than most anything. She kept herself closed off from most people, preferring to be alone than to socialize with others. However with her fifth year beginning, and being given the title of prefect, a change might just be seen around the corner.
Personality: Keaira is a very fiery girl, she doesn’t allow any one to put her down, and she doesn’t take crap from others. She was raised to take care of herself first and then to go from there. There is little to stop her from going where she wants to go, if she was a goal she will achieve it. Whether that goal is to get to lunch at the precise time she plans or if it is to get E’s on every owl she takes. It will be as she wants it. Ambitious to a fault she sometimes has been known to hurt people that are in her way, even if this is an unintentional pain. She was taught very intensely that cheating is unacceptable, and she believes it whole heartedly, however if she can not cheat, she will lie. Deceit and trickery sometimes will do the same job as well thought out cheating. It’s just a matter of how you use them. Then if all else fails you could always try some well placed German chocolate.
Although, for the company that you often find her in she is considerably more kind than most of her companions. Keeping her tongue when others can not. Cruelty for cruelties sake is just so boring, an unbeneficial for her ultimate life’s goals. Keaira has been known to be quite the loner at times. Preferring her books, or her toys, to the company of those around her. This is ultimately due to the fact that she has suffered in her past, and is still healing from the pain.
Very few people know this about her, but each night before she goes to sleep she thinks back on her days events and tries to account for her good and bad actions, this way she can meditate on how she could have altered her actions to achieve the most good. As a firm believer in Karma, she tries not to allow fate the chance to bite her when she is unaware. As she meditates on her wrongdoings she often decides on a plan of action for the next encounter with the involved person to help swing karma back in her favor.
Although she is a knowledgeable and kindhearted person, her strongest traits are her ambition and her craftiness. This is mainly because once she is settled on something she will use everything in her arsenal to accomplish it, be it through books, skills, or kindness.
Additional things: Keaira’s favorite class is undoubtedly potions, although her best is transfiguration. Her worst subject is probably history of magic, mostly because she finds that the information she has gathered from Professor McGovern, far more valuable than goblin wars. Particularly when you consider that he taught her how to act around muggles in case of an emergency. After all there is nothing gained for a 15 year old girl if the wrong sorts of muggles stumble upon her.
Her childhood tutor brought her more than just knowledge and a thirst for more, but he also brought her strange and exotic toys, and items. One of the things she has learned from him was how to juggle, the muggle way. She can juggle both scarves and small hacky sacks, but she can also use Diablo’s, and devil sticks. And although that alone is an interesting thing to know it is slightly more impressive with the small fact that she can juggle devil sticks on fire. For her last birthday she was given new fire sticks to play, which she promptly lit. She plays them on an almost daily basis during the break.
She can play the tin or wooden whistle, and although she has never tried it, she could probably play he clarinet as well. Especially if given a day to practice. Her pet is a cat her name is Artemis. And she is a short haired white cat, with black stripes across her body that look like hunting paints.
Her wand is supple 14.25 in, Ivy, with a feather form the wings of an Abraxan.
Sample Roleplay: The stars were all quietly resting in their usual places among the sky. It was the same as last night, if you were just glancing at them. But Keaira knew better. The stars had shifted as they always did. Traveling a slightly different path than they did yesterday. She gazed at them, billions of miles away but yet, they appeared so close when you saw through the eyes of a telescope. She had wanted to gaze upon Orion but she could not. Unfortunately it was only visible in the western hemisphere this time of year... She hadn’t seen it in a while. It was after all one of her favorites, besides Draco, and she had not seen the constellation that her father had been given as a middle name in ages. And yet she knew it would be longer still until she could gaze upon it.
She took a deep breath, breathing the crisp night air, and she sighed. What was she waiting up for anyway? It wasn’t like she would come up here. It had been ages since Tisiphone had gone stat gazing with her. They used to have so much fun. Racing to be the first to find a specific star or constellation. Or when Hailies comet passed and they gazed at it for 3 hours trying to see if they could spot a piece of it breaking off. What had happened that they didn’t do this any more?
She was caught in a memory, thinking back 2 summers ago, the warm breeze on her cheek, her sister giggling because dad had accidentally called Vega, Gayga instead. It was a pleasant memory, one that he liked reliving. Dad had always brought us blanket and cocca….
She gazed across the lawns to the lake. It was always peaceful this time of night. Her mind off on the memory she was completely unaware when the door drifted open. And she suddenly was no longer alone…
