Paragraph Format: Wysteria is a 16 year old female from Britain. Her mother (Lara Edwin) is half Romanian, half British and her father (George Edwin) is British, giving Wysteria a mixed heritage. George Edwin is a muggle dentist who met Wysteria's mother when one of her retractable canines became infected (she didn't want to go to a healer because anti-vampire sentiments were high at that time). She's of average height at 5'6” with an athletic build, long black wavy hair and green eyes. Her eye glow blue when she is hunting, an indication that she is better able to see her surroundings and sense danger. When not in her school robes, Wysteria wears skirts when she can, but usually decides on jeans and a high-neck shirt. She has scars along her neck and collarbone from various incidents when she had offended a vampire from her grandfather's clan.
Personality: Wysteria is not what one would call a friendly or personable person, but that by no means suggests that she is cold or unfeeling. She simply choses not to talk to people unless she absolutely needs to or is approached. Shyness is the wrong word, since although she was shy as a first and second year, she grew in her confidence. It is simply that she knows her strength is not conversation, since she can often be blunt or mean without trying to be. She has a bad habit of saying whatever comes into her head if engaged in conversation. But once Wysteria becomes someone's friend, she is loyal and can be sympathetic. She trusts very few people though, and the only people she trusts completely are her parents. She also has a penchant for getting into a bit of mischief...especially during her 4th year when she made friends with a few people who were known as pranksters.
Wysteria enjoys spending her free time with books, especially concerning her favorite subjects of Transfiguration and Charms. Care of Magical Creatures is her worst subject since she almost always does poorly on the practical exams. Animals do not like Wyst, and she doesn't like them. She can sense that they pick up on the fact that she is a predator (being only part vampire, she has fed on animal blood and been able to survive).
History: When Wysteria was growing up, she attended a regular muggle school. Her father's family knew nothing about the magical world or her vampire blood, and her parents wanted to keep it that way. When she was little, before her canines came in, Wysteria's mother let her be seen by anyone. But once her canines came in and her eyes began flickering and glowing, especially when she was a toddler, Lara decided it was best for Wysteria to be away from the muggle world, and Wyst did not see her muggle relatives for several years. While she was in school, Wysteria felt like an outsider, knowing she was not only a witch but part vampire. Even though she knew that without being an actually undead vampire she could never turn anyone, she still had bad feelings toward being part vampire. Even at an early age she did not like her dependence on blood.
This only increased when she began visiting her grandfather in Romania. He was the head of a vampire clan there—the Dradoon clan, one which still practiced hunting and the old ways. Lara wanted Wysteria to know about her heritage and not be afraid of it; even though Lara knew it was dangerous, she wanted her daughter to get to know her grandfather in the least. And so, at the age of 7 she began visiting her grandfather for a week at a time. She would often see glimpses of people being bitten at night, and on a few occassions her grandfather made her drink from someone already in a trance. She even made a friend when she was out in the woods during the day, his name was Jeffery and he was a muggle boy about her age. Unfortunately, when she was 11 she witnessed the brutal torture and murder of Jeffery by the Dradoon clansmen. And her own grandfather killed the boy (most likely to put him out of his misery). She memorized the faces of the men who had captured the boy and hurt him the most.

When she arrived at Hogwarts, she was obviously reclusive and shy after this experience with the campire clan. She decided to focus almost entirely on her studies and did not give much time for anything else. This only increased her love of books and knowledge, which were her only companions in that early time. However, after her first year she opened up a bit more and developed a few friendships. During her 4th year she became friends with well-known pranksters, finding that she was able to laugh with them (something she did rarely before that). During this year and the two that followed, she learned to open up and laugh, have fun, and learned that she really had no problems bending or ignoring the rules (all in the spirit of fun or to plot her revenge, of course).
While she was away during her second year, Wysteria's mother died. At the age of 12, Wyst has been very much affected by this loss, making her feel more closed-off than before. This loss caused Wyst to not want attachment to others. She cane still have a great deal of compassion, but she avoids "needing" someone at all costs and will take conscious steps to prevent it. No one ever gave her a complete answer as to why her mother died, and since she was cremated before she got home for the funeral. She has some suspicions about what happened, but choses to believe the comfortable explanation of a heart attack that the muggle doctors gave her father.
She developed an interest in Defense Against the Dark Arts out of a desire to seek revenge on the vampires who had tortured Jeffrey. And every summer after his death, she would train with her Uncle Horatio on her mother's side to fight and kill vampires. Horatio is a full vampire, but he did not become so by choice and despises the way clan vampires chose to live. He learned of Wysteria's tragedy and secretly offered her training (without her mother's knowledge). She learned in her 3rd year that the 4 vampires mainly responsible for the capture and torture of Jeffrey were wanted by the Ministry. Horation was working at the Ministry at the time, and he was the one who told Wyst they were being unted. Of course, the Ministry is farely inept at capturing vampires since they rarely accept help from Vampires who know their haiding places best.
But after 3 years of failed attempts to capture these vampires, the Ministry unofficially gave up the pursuit (unbeknownst to the other vampires who still thought they were being hunted). This provided the best environment for Wyst to carry out her vigilante justice. Wyst continued visiting her grandfather in order to keep up appearances that nothing was wrong, but the summer before her 6th year she finally hunted the 4 mainly responsible and killed them. This was not just for a personal vendetta, but because she had seen the horrors they would carry out to others, unknown to her grandfather who generally kept the clan from doing truly evil deeds. But this task was not easy, and even though she feels that she prevented many murders and tortures and turnings by killing them, Wyst knows deep down that two wrongs do not make a right. It's a constant moral struggle for her to grapple with what happened, so she often feels unlovable. She sometimes fears that someone saw her those nights, which is why she always carries spare silver stakes with her.
