Greetings Fellow Bookworms!
I am beginning an internet book club of sorts. The objective would be to have everyone read a book at the same time and then get together periodically for chats about what we've read. My first thought is to have these chats in an IM format, but I've had the opinion expressed that some would prefer a Forum with Threads.
Of course, it might be most obvious to begin with Harry Potter book 7, as I'm fairly certain most of have read it or are going to read it soon! Then, we would all put in nominations for what to read next and each member would vote.
Really, I would prefer to keep this as simple as possible. I don't want people to have to sign up for memberships and maintain a new account on a new website. For the sake of simplicity, I think this would be primarily IM-driven... a chat community, if you will, of people all reading the same book at the same time.
One of the things that made the Harry Potter so enjoyable for me was the fact that I had others to discuss the book with and really delve into the characters and events... it made them come alive. (Of course, it helps that JK Rowling is an excellent author as well).
Anyway, if you're interested, IM, E-mail, or PM me. There would be a chat once per week... probably on either Tuesday or Thursday nights... or perhaps on the weekend, I haven't really decided yet.
Hope to hear from you all soon!
-Dee

The next book has been selected. It is: Brave New World Author: Aldous Huxley (Hint to all of you high school students out there, this is probably required reading anyway! And it's really good!) Oh, and if you're too cheap to buy a copy or if you just can't find one, it's avaiable online for free... www.hedweb.com/huxley/bnw/

Hehe, when I saw Brave New World on my reading list for my next seminar option I thought it sounded familiar... Yay for a free copy! Although referencing page numbers could be difficult... Was it good?
