Referred By: The Affiliates thingy on the bottom of a website who’s name I can’t remember. Sorry…I think that kind of defeats the point of this question.
Name: Iseul Aislin Flynn
Age: 15
Sex: Female
Nationality: British
Speech: English, Irish Gaelic, and Korean. Irish Gaelic is her father’s second first language, and Korean is her mother’s. She grew up speaking both, and went to school in South Korea. Iseul can write in Hangul.
Blood: Muggle-born. There was one grandmother on her mother’s side who had odd rumors surrounding her, but…nothing was proved.
Father: Conell Flynn (Deceased) (muggle)
Mother: Ji Flynn, nee Busan Myong (From Myong Busan Ji when she immigrated to London) (muggle)
Siblings: None
Other Family: Iseul’s father’s parents are both dead, his only brother estranged, and Ji’s family is all in South Korea. Sufficient to say, there is very little important extended family.
Family Interactions: Iseul is very close to her mother, one of the reasons she moved from GSMU to Hogwarts. She wasn’t as close to her father, because of his long business absences, but still loved him. Family dynamics were perfect, until Conell died, then became slightly strained while Iseul was away in South Korea. It was harder to communicate with each other, and not really having any other extended family certainly made it more difficult. Ji and Iseul hope to remedy this by moving Iseul to Hogwarts. Ji is optimistic, as is Iseul, but the daughter is considerably more nervous than the mother.
Ji is a South Korean immigrant, and is not very fluent in English, and Conell is from Northern Ireland, and has heavily accented English. They met in an internet cafe in London. It's a wonder they even understood each other. Iseul speaks three languages, and was sometimes the translator for her parents. This caused much humor. Now, when she's at home, Iseul speaks Korean, because it's her mother's first language.
Height: 5’3”
Weight: 109 lbs exactly
Hair: Very dark brown, almost black, usually worn in one to two braids or one to two buns and no combination thereof.
Eyes: Dark brown
Skin Colour: Very pale
Clothing style: Layered shirts, tunic tops, jeans, leggings and sweatshirts just about sum it up.
Accessories: A silver ring from her father on her right hand, earrings, and a simple bag is the extent of Iseul’s accessories – anything else would be too confusing.
Paragraph Format: Iseul takes her looks almost exclusively from her mother. Her dark eyes are almond-shaped, slightly wide set, and rather large. Her nose is long and narrow, her mouth thin. She usually wears a slightly bored, annoyed look – this is not because she is actually irritated (Though she often is), but because that is how Iseul’s face looks.
Iseul is fairly short, which comes from her father’s side. Her build is athletic and she is of average weight, with not much extra padding around the chest or bottom area. She is rather imposing, despite her short stature. This probably comes from her perpetually exasperated expression, piercing glare, heavy eyeliner and general rarity of actually smiling at someone.
When not wearing her uniform during the winter, Iseul can usually be found in vests, long jackets, turtlenecks that accentuate her long neck, jeans and boots. In the summer, her wear isn’t much different, except that the boots and turtlenecks are replaced with flip-flops, flats and tee-shirts. Her color choices lean towards black, grays, blues, and reds. Jewelry is usually kept to a silver ring and small hoop earrings, and makeup never goes past her heavy eyeliner and colorless lip balm. If she feels she ought to carry a bag it is a serviceable canvas bag or her school book bag.
Personality: Iseul may come across as quite the bored, regularly irritated loner at first. She is not, however. Though her opinion of human intelligence is constantly being lowered, and most academic subjects are fairly un-challenging for her, she is not always irritated. And she has muggle friends back home and wizarding friends in South Korea. This is, however, her first year at Hogwarts…so, friends? Not so much.
She frequently finds herself in situations in which she is the only ‘sane one.’ This has made her slightly cynical, somewhat headache-prone, and amazingly sarcastic. Iseul instantly gets the irony and finds it absolutely hilarious, which is why her general expression (when not looking annoyed) is one of silent mirth. This often causes confusion with her peers and teachers, as they are unsure why she is laughing. When Iseul tries to explain it, she usually lands herself in detention. She tries to keep a straight face.
To her friends, Iseul is loyal and compassionate, always there for them. Unfortunately, because of her biting sarcasm, automatic scorn and super-high intelligence, it is not very easy to become friends with her. She rarely gets mad, preferring to pick out the hilarity of the situation and get quiet revenge later, if the person really made her annoyed. She has an uncanny ability to make enemies by walking down the hall, or at least that was how it was when she was in South Korea. As of yet, Iseul is unsure of where she stands in the status quo at Hogwarts – without any house pride and her dry, cynical view of the world, she is nervous about the upcoming term at the wizarding school. This is fairly unusual for her. Even as an outcast in school, she never really got scared of anything.
To sum her up? Iseul is an extraordinarily smart, socially challenged reluctant heroine.
History: Iseul was born in London. Her home life as a young girl was peaceful and happy, despite the fact that Conell Flynn was usually traveling for his job as a nuclear scientist. Ji Flynn took care of Iseul most of the time. She attended Years One and Two (Kindergarten and First in America) while living in London. During Christmas break in Year Three, Iseul fell over into the fireplace and came out unscathed, and suddenly Iseul was a part of the Wizarding World. She loved it. Conell and Ji were delighted, and came to the joint decision of sending her to a school in Seoul, South Korea, called the (Translated) Girl’s School for Magic Users.
Iseul attended GSMU for five years, made friends, and learned everything she knew about the wizarding world. GSMU had a very competitive Quidditch team, as well, and Iseul was a Beater for three years. She studied the core classes – Charms, Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, etc, and took any other class she could get her hands on. Iseul became a Head Girl (the equivalent of a prefect at Hogwarts) in her last year at GSMU, and was on the Junior Dueling team. She was sorted into Eun Saek, the Silver house. There were two at GSMU: Gold (sort of like Hufflepuff and Gryffindor) and Silver (Ravenclaw/Slytherin-ish). Iseul always received very high marks. GSMU has their OWLs in their fifth year as well, so she isn’t expecting a problem in those having spent almost a year studying furiously for the GSMU exams.
Unfortunately, when Iseul turned twelve, her father died. This was quite a shock for her and her mother, and had come completely unexpectedly. Iseul was changed, somehow, her light humor from previous years was turned into slightly more biting witticism, she smiled less, and became more and more homesick. Ji continued living and working in muggle London, with Iseul coming home over the holidays. The stress on them was too much, though, and they decided it was time for her education to be closer to her mother, rather than half a world away. So Iseul moved out of South Korea and GSMU and into London and Hogwarts. She isn’t expecting the move to be easy, as it is such an odd time to change schools (May) and the friends she had in London are all either estranged from her long stays at ‘Korean boarding school’ or no longer living in London. But at least Iseul will be closer to her mother.
She is able to conjure a patronous. At GSMU, they started students learning about patronouses and the like when they are in second year, and the success rate ranges from very quickly learning their patronous to students often never producing a corporeal patronous. Iseul learned fairly quickly, and had a corporeal patronous achieved the January of her last half-year at GSMU. It is a housecat, long and lean, and mirrors her aloof, elegant, slightly flip manner. (Haven’t you ever walked by a cat, and thought it was smirking at you?) The memory she usues is the one of the Christmas she found out she was a wizard. Her parents were home, she was home, and it was magical. Literally.
Iseul’s boggart would be a dementor. Her intense fear of them comes from her second year at GSMU when there was a surge of dementors traveling through South Korea to North Korea. One took up residence at the school, and though she was safe with her patronous, Iseul never shook the icy feeling of utter terror and sadness that permeates from the creatures. If Iseul were to look in the Mirror of Erised, she would see her father, her friends from GSMU, she would see herself surrounded by people who cared about her and loved her. She is truly lonely – even while at the huge school that was GSMU she only had two friends, both in the Gold House.
Her pet is a male Collared Scops Owl named Aodh.
Code word: I think it's * and the other is *. But then I couldn't find where I read that you need to include the codeword, then I couldn't find where the codeword was...sorry. Erk. And then I forgot if there was two or not or if one hadn't been updated. I'm bad. Sorry.
