SITE RULES
1. Literacy
Here at Hogwarts: A New Dawn, we encourage literacy. We have a 10 sentence minimum that should be used sparingly. Meaning everyone is encouraged to go above and beyond the minimum limit. The only exception to this limit is posts written for classes. If you are posting in a class, then it is permissible to have a post as short as five sentences. It is more fun to read a couple paragraphs that stimulate the imagination and encourage creativity than one liner posts, which are prohibited. Below is an example of a post that meets the minimum requirements we seek.
What a beautiful day. The sunshine was warm and the air very refreshing. After a daunting pop quiz in potions, Morgan was quite pleased to be rid of the school day. It wasn't really something he enjoyed, potions that is, and double-class was something he loathed even more. "Ugh!" He sighed, hugging his text books to his chest. He then trotted down the main staircase and headed out onto the grounds.
His bright blue eyes looked around for the beautiful black haired girl he had come to be very fond of. "Kaylee!" Morgan shouted, steadying his books in his one arm as the other waved about in an attempt to lure her his way. The black haired girl turned around and a grin was shared between the two. Dashing over to her, he embraced her and they headed toward their favorite tree. "How was your day?" He asked, hoping hers was much better then his.
2. Proper English & Grammar
Please use proper English and Grammar while role-playing on this site. Avoid chat-speak and slang. The only time neglectful English and Grammar should be acceptable is, when posting, a character is speaking.
3. Site Setting
Hogwarts: A New Dawn is set 21 years after J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, making the year 2019. Here at H.A.N.D, we’re trying to create a different story completely. There are no canon characters, such as Ron, Hermione, and Harry, and there are to be no relatives of any character on the site. Everyone must be original and create their own unique character if they would like to RP at this site.
4. NO SPAMMING
Violators will be banned. Enough said.
5. Advertisements and Affiliation
If you would like to Advertise or Affiliate with us, please reference our Advertising and Affiliation board. Refrain from posting an ad or affiliation anywhere else. Thank you.

6. Posting Point of View
Everybody that posts here on H.A.N.D must post in the third person point of view. This means no "I"s, "You"s, or "We"s, unless your character is speaking to another character. Also, everything must be in the past tense as well, just like it would be if you were reading a Harry Potter book:
Good --
Morgan walked through the hallways as he was trying to find the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Several of the portraits that hung on the walls snickered as he passed by them.
Bad --
Morgan walks through the hallways because he is trying to find the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Several of the portraits that hang on the walls snicker as he walks by them.
7. NO STEALING
Practically everything on this site is an original creation by the members that role-play here. Graphics, Biographies, Personalities of a Character, Stories, Drawings, Poems, et cetera. If anyone chooses to violate this rule, they will be banned.
8. Before Posting
Before you may begin posting freely on the site, you must be sorted into a house if you choose to make a student character. If you choose to make an adult, Ministry Worker, Professor, Shop Keeper, et cetera, you still must post in the sorting hat, and wait to be employed. Only the Admins can do the sorting, so please PM an Admin if you have questions regarding this process. With our application process, we at H.A.N.D. use a code word system to ensure you have read all the rules. Please make note of the code words within the rules, and place them at the bottom of your application.
9.Double Posts
This is a collaborative effort. (codeword: lemon sherbet) Do not post consecutively after yourself. If you wish to correct a mistake that you notice you have made, please use the “modify post” button. That’s what it is there for. Using spell check comes highly encouraged. If you need a reply to a post that hasn’t received one, make a post in the “Out of Character” Common Room.
