Laughing at Alessandro's comment and the slight impact on his shoulder blade, he replied happily. "Oh yes, you know me," he said in a mockingly casual voice, a broad smile left over from his laughter.
Observing that two more people had arrived, he thought there should have been more given the time; class was due to start any minute. Recognising the two students that had been late for Defence Against the Dark Arts, he now knew one of them to be Jason, and smiled at him. "Hey Jason!" he said, soon after Alessandro had made contact with a joke. "I don't know about you guys, but crups can be terribly scary when they want to be," he said. Someone rather dense might have almost believed that he was serious.

Her grin grew wider as the Ravenclaw smiled back, acknowledging her presence. Well, he seemed nice, she blushed a little turning away, only to see Jason standing there. “Hey you!” she said with surprise, unaware of the fact that they had another class together. At least she knew one person in the class.
The blonde boy looked vaguely familiar, then she remembered, DADA, the one practicing the spell with the other girl. Coming out of her “thought coma” she introduced herself to the other three boys, “I’m Leilani,” she said with another little smile. Listening to their conversation on Crups she tilted her head to the side slightly, not realizing their sarcasm. I thought Crups were harmless, she thought, thankful for not saying it out loud, for she noticed there sarcasm in the very last moments.

The grin that was already splayed across Jason's face broadened at Dylan's greeting, and then again at Lei's. He marveled at how apparently easy it was to make friends when you simply respond in kind to greetings and such. He'd spent his first 3 years waving and smiling nervously and then running off whenever someone spoke to him. It all seemed like such a waste to him now. He laughed at Dylan's continuation of the joke, glad that he'd grown more familiar with the wizarding world in his time at Hogwarts. He wouldn't have gotten it his first year.
"Yeah, it's true, when they want to be. Too bad no crup in history has ever wanted to be."
He turned to Lei, his widened grin persisting. Already on casual speaking terms with three other students in the class. This was great!
"Hey you. Looks like we both set our alarms this time, eh?"
