Jasmine waited patiently at the door into Hogwarts, which was ajar for the students to come through. It was that time of year again, when classes started. And today was the first lesson. She'd gotten everything planned out: Today they would be handling something simple, quite simple in fact, just for the start. She wasn't going to be bringing in anything vicious for a while. Today she was starting with a Crup, which in fact she had to show.
Waiting by the large, wooden door, the woman waited for her class to gather. She usually didn't do such a thing, but she had too, ever since that ban was put into effect. Now she was to wait for everyone to come, and then walk them into the class area: her little cottage in which she lived. She'd been told about others who'd lived there, especially the famous Hagrid, and heard that it hadn't changed since he'd lived there, except for the fact that a fence had been set up all around, to make sure none of the students wandered off. There was much room though, the fence was probably a good one hundred, one hundred fifty feet away from the little house, making sure there was room for the students to gather in the yard comfortably.
Sighing, she looked to the cottage for a moment before looking back to the students gathered.

A.J. slowly headed down the stairs, he had been studying in the Gryffindor common room. Despite being in his fifth year at the school, it still suprised him when he thought about it... him being in Gryffindor. He had expected Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw but not Gryffindor. That had been his last guess at the Sorting Hat. It was almost as if it had happened yesterday....
A.J. was lost in his thoughts, he wasn't paying attention and suddenly he found himself falling. He tried to balance himself, his bag and all of its contents went spilling out of his bag and onto the stairs. An ink bottle hit the hard floor with a soft "crack! . Papers litttered the floor.
A.J. slowly picked himself up to brace himself for the embarresment he would soon face. A.J.'s face was one of the brightest shades red imaginable.
"Accio books, accio papers." he mumbled quietly.
The books and papers flew back toward him, he put it in his bag and tried to remember the spell for cleaning up ink.

Her face traveled once more to look at the cottage. A sigh escaped her delicate lips, shoulders rising and lowering slightly as she did so. She wondered, who would be in her class? She hoped no trouble makers, those were the worst. She'd had a few in the past, and they'd tormented the creatures she'd brought in. She really hoped no one tormented anything today, that would just make the day worse after that ban.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a rustle and a smash, and, whipping around, she saw a boy who had fallen. Chuckling silently she rushed over, kneeling down beside him. "Are you all right?" she asked tenderly.
Noticing that he'd picked up the books and papers, but failed to clean up the ink, a small smile decorated her lips. Reaching into her cloak pocket, she pulled out her wand and pointed to the spilled ink. "Erecto." she muttered, and the ink vanished, not a trace. Turning back to the boy, she nodded, putting away her wand. "I can get you some more ink, if you need it. I didn't think there would be any use for it, hope you don't mind..."

"I-its fine... thank you, I really do need ink." he mumbled.
He looked down at his feet for a few moments, trying to get his thoughts together and put on the mask that he knew so well. A.J. took a deep breathe, closed his eyes and looked back up, trying to keep his fake "I-don't-care-what-just-happened-Life-is-wonderful-blah-blah-blah" smile plastered to his face as usual.
Try to look a the bright side... said a part of his brain What bright side responded a cool cold voice inside his own head
"Thank you Professor." he smiled again, luckily there were still not many students around so nobody really saw it.... only a few people.

Professer Jasmine smiled. "All right. Are you signed up for my class? Care of the Magical Creatures?" she asked curiously. If he was, all the more luck, he would be coming to her cottage in a moment anyway for class. If not, oh well, maybe he could find some time to come with the class for a moment to head over to her house. She had a few bottles of ink in there he could use.
"It's not a problem. Not at all. Happy to help." Glancing once more at the ground, she noticed the broken glass from the bottle, rolling her eyes, she took out her wand once more and uttered, "Scourgify." the glass pieces were cleaned up, completely, not a piece on the ground.
Turning to the boy, she examined him. "Are you hurt?" her tender voice asked gently, a small smile on her face. She wasn't one to just leave the boy there, she had to make sure he was OK. If she ever had kids, they'd probably hate her because she might be a little over-protective.

Alessandro quickly made his way down to hallways towards the courtyard exit. He knew that since the embargo over Hogwarts preventing any student to go out of the castle had been enacted, that Care of Magical Creatures would mean that he would have to wait with the class in the courtyard for the professor to accompany them all to the little shack near the Forbidden Forest. He rounded the corner and approached the huge doors to the courtyard. As he drew near, he looked down into his sidebag for his books.
"Advanced Transfig, The Folly of Retribution, Chiaroscuro, oh where are you?" He asked himself aloud as he stepped through the doors and out into the bright sunshine and pleasantness of the Hogwarts courtyard. He stopped in mid step as he continued to sift through his bag. Muttering to himself absentmindedly about how he'd hate to have come to class unprepared, he finally found the book he was looking for. "Ahhh!" He said with triumph as he pulled out his Care of Magical Creatures book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
He gave an upwards glance to see what was going on. Students had gathered in clusters in the courtyard gabbing incessantly about this and that. He noticed the professor was helping up a Gryffindor boy that looked to be in his year. He approached them swiftly.
"Morning Professor!" Alessandro gave a big smile to the teacher. He looked over at the boy. He gave him a quick smile as the boy seemed to be recollecting himself. He turned back to the professor. "Do you have some really wicked cool beast for us today??" He asked with excitement. "Perhaps a clabbert? or a grindylow??" He breathed.

Professor Jasmine turned her head to look at the one who had spoken. Almost instantly she recognized him as Alessandro. Chuckling, she smiled at him. "Well, if you count a Crup as wickedly cool, then yes. If not, then no. Though we may have a grindylow sometime this week, or the next...." her voice trailed off as she thought. When should she bring in the Grindylows? Well, it would be soon, for all she knew.
"We'll be heading to class in a few minutes, once everyone is here." she said, before turning back to the boy who'd fallen.

"Oh, I am fine." he said smiling, "I think I signed up... I am pretty sure I did. Yes I am almost positive, no, yes. I signed up." Good thing only my dignity was hurt he thought
He could see in his mind's eye A.J. hitting himself over the head with his books screaming "BAD A.J. BAD!" like a houself after doing something incorrectly. For a moment his smile disappeared and was replaced with a look of self pity, but the look disappeared as soon as it appeared. If someone would blinked they would have missed it.
A.J. secretly wished he wasn't so clumsy. He had been embarressed so many times because of it. He could imagine himself, a great person free from the humiliation that he suffered daily. He could see himself, very powerful and influential wizard.... though it could never happen. He let people make decisions for him, he was no leader.... plus there was no way that he could become the hero he had always envisioned, it was impossible.

To his disappointment, he discovered that todays lesson in Care of Magical Creatures would entail the Crup. A creature that Alessandro knew to resemble a Jack Russel Terrier with a forked tail. "Hmpf..." He frowned as he looked at the ground. He then looked at the boy he was standing next to and decided to introduce himself.
"Hello, I'm Alessandro Darko. Whats your name?" He asked the boy who had been talking with the professor. He extended his hand in an amicable gesture. Alessandro was always one to try and befriend people he didn't know, at least be on good speaking terms.
The wind seemed to shift sending an icy chill down his spine as he sensed something dark on the horizon. He shook off the feeling, letting the sunshine warm his heart again. There was a burning sensation at the back of his mind which caused him to have the image of a single flame flickering in his head, reminding him of a necessary task he would have to accomplish soon.

A.J. looked at the boy nervously for a few moments, looking him up and down before grabing his hand. "Its.... nice to meet you. My name is A.J." he smiled
He slowly shook his hand, suddenly he felt a chill. He felt.... depressed for a moment as if all the happiness had been drained out for a moment. He had to shake himself out of that, the sunshine warmed him slowly but surely. He rubbed his arms for a few moments and stared out toward the forest.

Dylan peered out of a window on the second floor as he passed it, his robes swinging to a stop as he surveyed the grounds. The day was clear and bright, and he was excited to get to his first Care of Magical Creatures class. He swung back around and continued on his warpath down to the class area.
Descending the Entrance Hall staircase he saw various students milling around, some heading into the Great Hall, others heading to Common Rooms or classes. His robes flowed behind him as he strolled towards the oaken front doors and out into the glorious grounds of Hogwarts. The sun shone brightly and a light breeze blew, making his hair frolick around his face a bit. He smiled as he saw the little cottage in the distance, as well as the shining lake, a small ripple obvious on the practically still surface.
Nearing the hut, he saw another two students already with the professor. He smiled at the teacher and was glad that he wasn't late to another class, one had been bad enough. The guilt of being tardy for Potions hung on for a second or two, and then vanished as he greeted their professor. "Morning, Professor." he said with a smile, his somewhat greasy hair flopping over his eyes and covering them.

Leilani let out a lion like yawn and peered around the darkness of the room. What time is it? she wondered making her way to one of the long billowy curtains. Flinging them open with such grandeur she noticed 1. that her eyes were blinded by the amount of sun that flowed through the window, and 2. the beds that accompanied hers were pleasantly empty. Mumbling angrily to herself she hastened to pull on robes and run a comb through her hair, just barely flinging her book bag over her shoulder.
Hurtling over her roommates’ things she clambered out of the portrait hole and ran down the long hallway. Reaching the front doors, Leilani peered around the side. Care of Magical Creatures was first this morning and it seemed that only three boys had arrived to the class at that time. Giving out a sigh of relief, she smoothed out her robes and regained her composure. Maybe this wouldn’t be such a frightfully bad morning after all?
Strolling out onto the lawn and reaching the quaint little cottage she smiled brightly at the professor, “Good Morning!” Now looking to the boys she gave a nod and a smile. Setting down her bag, she waited patiently for class to begin. In the meantime, cooling herself down with the pleasent breeze.

Secure in the knowledge he wasn't going to be late for this class, Jason strode easily through the entrance hall and out the large front doors of the school, grinning as the sun washed over him. Warm days are the best he thought. His outlook dimmed slightly as his robe caught on a jag in the wood and tore slightly. He wasn't a fan of robes. He much preferred muggle clothes. As soon as class was out he'd run back up to Gryffindor tower and change.
He saw the group gathered in the courtyard and walked toward them. He recognized some of them. Surprisingly many actually. Perhaps he was starting to succeed in his attempts to get to know the other students. Dropping his bag as he reached an old pillar, he waved cheerfully at the professor and any of the students who happened to be looking his way. He then leaned against the pillar, arms crossed and eyes closed, smiling in the warmth of the sun and waiting for class to begin.

Alessandro had been standing there conversing with AJ and the Professor when he heard a familiar voice break in. It was none other than Dylan Cooper, his dorm mate. He greeted Dylan warmly and gave him a slap on the back. "Figurin' you'd show up finally?" He said with a smile as it was almost time for the class to start.
He looked over his shoulder and noticed a pretty girl that he hadn't seen before coming their way. She addressed the professor and then gave them a nod accompanied by a smile. He nodded and smiled back to her as he scrutinized her robes. Judging by the crest on the front, she was Hufflepuff. Ahh, he hadn't many friends in that house, just Wysteria.
He noted Jason had shown up just in time, dropping his bag and waving to the crew. "Hey Jason!" Alessandro waved back. "We're going to be dealing with a crup today....scary...right?" He laughed.

Thankful that someone had addressed him, Jason opened his eyes and turned his face towards Alessandro. Despite knowing most of the students present, Jason still had a hard time bringing himself to speak first. He'd have to work on that. He laughed along with the Ravenclaw boy.
"Terrifying. Well, my mom would think so."
Sometimes he thought there were simply no advantages to having muggle parents. It didn't bother him usually, but it made summers kind of sad since she never had any clue what he was talking about.
Jason pushed himself off the pillar with his elbow and strode over to stand nearer the other students, as if he'd been given permission to approach simply by being spoken to.
