Her facial expression firm and set, D'rorah strode through the Ravenclaw common room and into the boy's dormitory. After he had dismissed her question so flippantly the night he had been found nearly unconscious in the fifth floor corridor, she had waited to satisfy her curiosity. Slightly annoyed that she had not yet had the opportunity to do so, she decided that she was done waiting.
Finally, she made her way into the fifth year dormitory. As she entered the room, she spotted Alessandro. "So then Mister Darko," she asked, her voice cold and formal, "now that you have spent the past several days avoiding me, I believe it is time you finally answered my last question to my satisfaction." She cut a rather formidable sight, looking every inch of her 5'11" frame as she stood there with her arms crossed, glaring.

Alessandro was sitting on his bed quietly reading when he heard footsteps clapping on the stone floor. He looked up and to his surprise it was a female. D'rorah Philosophy, Ravenclaw Prefect. His jaw dropped as he realized that she was up in the boys dorms and he stood up immediately.
"Avoiding you...." He trailed off and he failed to meet her gaze. His eyes wandered everywhere else, except for her own. "I haven't been avoiding you Dee...." He managed. He turned and walked over to the window and looked out it, hoping he would transform into some kind of bird and fly away.
"What did you want to ask me?" He asked with his back to her as he continued to gaze out the window urging himself to take flight.

D'rorah's scowl deepened. "Very well, Mister Darko. I shall indulge you and refresh your memory. The last question I asked you had to do with a certain text--the Maleficus Obscurum. You claimed to have simply gotten rid of the text. First, I shall state quite plainly that I do no believe you. However, if what you say is true, I shall still be angry because a text of that nature should never simply be disposed of. Now, I shall pose my question again. Where is the Maleficus Obscurum text?"
She stood there with her arms crossed, eyes boring into the back of his head. She couldn't allow a text which shared a connection with the Shadow Realm to simply remain unprotected. "You are tired. You have not slept. You look as though your very nightmares are haunted," she added flatly. "These things do not happen for no reason. If the Maleficus Obscurum is not the cause, then I would like to find out what is. Allowing any member of our... group to be mentally or emotionally incapacitated introduces the possibility of endangering other members of the group. I will not allow our team to be endangered by your fear of my anger. If you produce the book now or give me information which leads to my finding it, I shall leave and you may simply consider this a learning experience of sorts. If, however, you persist in misleading me, I shall indeed become even angrier."

He felt Dee's sincerity like a knife tearing through him. He clenched his jaw at the mention of the book. Why does she want that book.....its my book. He thought possessively, but quickly remembered that Dee was a skilled telepath and began to put up his guard a bit more. He began to think about a beautiful blue sky with white fluffy clouds.
He turned to face her. "Yes...I have been having nightmares, and yes, I am dealing with some things that aren't exactly of a light nature, but I am dealing none-the-less." he said with a hint of arrogance in his voice. He was beginning to feel badgered and a bit annoyed. "I do appreciate your concern Dee, I really do, but the book is in a safe place now, and I am taking measures to ensure that nobody else stumbles upon the text." He said as he took a breath.
"Now if you'll excuse me....I'll be on my way now..." He said avoiding her gaze yet again, as he grabbed his bag and reached for the book he was reading on his bed.

"Very well then," she replied. "Detention, Mister Darko, for being out of bed the other evening and establishing a link with the Shadow Realm," she remarked... "for no apparent reason whatsoever," she added. "I assume that, if the book is not around to cause such strange occurrences, you were acting wholly of your own free will in stumbling around the corridors and being found nearly unconscious, huddled against the wall." She shifted her weight slightly from one foot to the next, still watching him with her arms crossed. "I understand you may find me annoying, but as long as I have been charged with seeing to the safety of the other members of our group, I intend to fill that role... and your statement that you are dealing with whatever is happening would be quite a bit more believable if you did not look quite so drawn and tired," she added. Her face softened in concern for a moment before she shook herself and turned to leave the room.

His heart sank as she so willingly awarded him a detention for being obstinate. For a split second he wanted to tell D'rorah everything, he wanted her help desperately. As she turned away from him he reached out a hand to her and called out to her. "Wait...." He said with his lips trembling. He closed his eyes as he felt a peculiar sensation in his chest, guilt mixed with fear.
"Nevermind...." He said as he straightened up and opened his eyes, having that feeling evaporate from his being. He was struggling inside, but he didn't know who to let in. At this moment, he felt that Dee would not be the right person after she had been so unrelenting toward him.
He sighed as he asked her "Where should I report for detention, Ms. Philosophy...." He asked feeling a little defeated. He felt very far away from D'rorah lately, even though she may be the single most person who could help him.

D'rorah paused as she heard Alessandro's voice asking her to wait. She turned around to see his lips trembling and eyes closed. As she waited for him to speak, she suddenly straightened and dismissed her, asking where he should report for detention. Her face softened with concern and when she spoke again, there was a fair measure of warmth in her voice.
"Come to the Room of Requirement, Alessandro. We will work on your training... and perhaps a bit of meditation might be able to assist with the mental distress you are dealing with. If you wish to speak with me before then, you know where to find me."
She offered him a sad smile, finally understanding a bit what was happening with him internally. Quietly, she turned and headed from the room, destined for the Room of Requirement and a bit of physical training for herself as she worked to rebuild the strength that had been depleted in the Shadow Realm.

After she informed him of where to report and offered him a somewhat warmer helping hand, she left from the dorms. Alessandro let out another sigh and shook his head slowly.
The Maleficus Obscurum is the book in which allowed him to have his very first taste of the dark realm. He didn't really understand what happened to him the first time he had read that incantation in the back of Chiaroscuro. He knew that he had opened some dark link within his mind to the shadow realm, but it was only after he and Wysteria had procured the real Maleficus and managed to open a portal to retrieve D'rorah that he realized what was happening.
He kept seeing that purple haze in his mind ever since Dee's return. His sleep at night was plagued with demons and twisted shadows, driving him to try his hardest to stay awake and avoid sleep. He was losing time, having gaps in his memory. One minute he'd be in one place, the next he's somewhere else. It was all very disturbing to him and he didn't know who to trust or who to turn to.

Making his way over to his dormitory stairs, Dylan received a slight shock as he saw D'rorah leave them, entering the common room. A slightly baffled expression on his face, he ascended the staircase and entered his assigned room to find his fellow fifth year. By the look on his face, he was exhausted. Having only actually seen him asleep at night or in the mornings, he'd never properly gotten the chance to meet the boy.
Having originally planned on heading to bed, he thought this might be the first good chance he'd had to actually meet the other Ravenclaw boy. A question about D'rorah on his lips, he decided to start at the beginning, with the customary formalities. "Hey..." he said in a quiet voice. Realising that he didn't even know the boys name, he introduced himself. "I'm Dylan," he said, his usual smile of the past few days absent from his features as he thought the boy looked extremely stressed. "I guess we haven't really had the chance to meet properly before," he said in a conversational tone.

Not really sure what was happening, Alessandro narrowed his eyes at his fellow Ravenclaw. Was he actually trying to befriend him? Or was he sent by Dee to convince him to turn over the book. "Hey..." Alessandro said to Dylan after he introduced himself. "Yeah, I guess not...I mean, I've seen you around, we're in most of the same classes. I guess it just never occurred to me that we were dorm-mates..." Alessandro said warily as he eyed the boy. What exactly is her game? Sicking her boyfriend on me? He began to think erratically but quickly dispelled those thoughts. He didn't question him about anything nor did he mention the Maleficus. On that note, Alessandro completely let his guard down.
"I'm Alessandro Darko. It's good to meet you Dylan." He said surrendering a smile to him.

Seeing the boy narrow his eyes, he became slightly nervous. Perhaps the obvious lack of sleep was making him paranoid? Maybe D'rorah was making him anxious? Either way, Dylan told himself to step carefully around this blatantly obvious lack of pleasure at his own appearance. Just as he thought this, the boy, whom he now discovered was called Alessandro, produced a smile. Responding with his own small smile, he returned the greeting. "Good to meet you too."
"Cooper," he said, noting that he'd introduced himself fully and feeling himself lagging behind in that department slightly. About to ask a blantantly stupid question, he inwardly rolled his eyes at himself and produced another one instead. "Did you see D'rorah?" he said in a slightly confused tone, wondering if she had been visiting the fifth or one of the other years' dorms.

Alessandro's face flushed crimson at the mention of D'rorah's name. He gave Dylan a small nod and cleared his throat. "Yeah...you just missed her..." He said simply as he grabbed the book on his bed and began to stuff it into his sidebag. He reached for his robes and threw them on over his uniform. He then proceeded to pull out a trunk under his bed, rummaged around through it and then withdrew another book and quickly secured it in his side bag.
He stood back up and looked at Dylan. "I'm, err....going out..." Alessandro said simply as he started for the staircase. He turned and pointed his wand at his bed and intoned "Subjectio Imago!" There was a dim glowing light under his blankets and then all of a sudden the covers rose up as if something or someone were under them. "I'll be back later....if someone asks you....You don't know anything right?" He asked Dylan hoping that he wouldn't rat him out.

Realising fully that Alessandro had bigger things on his mind, one eyebrow raised itself in a sort of unsaid question as he began hastily packing. Paranoid indeed. Wondering what was so important about the book he'd taken so much effort to retrieve from his trunk, as well as the one that had until recently occupied a place on his bed. His curiosity was almost interminable by this point.
"Going out? What about the curfew?" he asked quietly, vaguely suspicious. Unsure about whether he should tell anyone or not, he replied with a relatively neutral comment. "Okay," he said, accepting that he was going out. If Alessandro wanted to perceive it as otherwise, that was his problem. A frown crossing his face, he made his way over to his own bed and began rummaging in the trunk beside it.

Alessandro felt that he may be comming off the wrong way by quickly making an exit when Dylan was trying to be friendly with him, they were after all, dorm mates for the rest of their magical educations. He noticed that Dylan seemed a little put off by his sudden pressure to not say anything to anyone about his breaking curfew.
"I need to do something before I attempt to sleep tonight..." Alessandro said sounding very desperate. "I should be okay if I make haste....Trust me, I don't want to get caught and I don't aim to....." He said as he walked toward the door to the staircase.
When he reached the door, he stopped and turned around to face Dylan who had begun to rummage through his own trunk. "Hey....um, It was nice to finally meet you Dylan." Alessandro said nodding his head. "We should plan a study session sometime, considering our situation." Alessandro said with a smile, and with that, he opened the door quietly and slipped off into the night.
