Being the only wizard in the family, Daniel feels cut off from the rest of his family, which results in the rest of his family trying to include him into their life, but Daniel doesn't feel as if he can live the same life as they do. While they have homework to do over the Summer, he's busy touching up his wand work, sending messaged via owl and not the postman or email. Even though he does have a laptop and uses the internet, he also has to think up a new story every time his neighbor notices he hasn't been around for the whole year.
As close as he is to his parents, he will always notice there are some difference between him and the rest of his family, not just because of his life style, but his sexuality, too. When his brother talks about girls, he tends to notice how his dad chirps in and makes subtle comments, which doesn't help with the feeling of having a barrier there between him and the rest of his family.
He loves them dearly, but he can't wait to get out of the house and explore the wizarding world a bit more. However, it's needless to say that he has defended his brother and sister in fights before, especially when it comes to boys with his sister. Her ex-boyfriend was abusive, so Daniel got involved with it. Then there's the time when someone tried to stab his brother, Russell, and Daniel went right after the guy and landed him in hospital. During the Summer, he does take the family out and show them more aspects to the wizarding life style, and often arranges visits to magical towns so they can see that the magic life style isn't that different to theirs, but the attempt it in vein every single time.
Although, on a happier note, he has always been there to help his brother or sister, and his parents if they ever need the help. He has also used a bit of magic here and there to do a bit of housework for them, but it hasn't been picked up by the ministry, as they know he has a muggle family, who obviously know he's a wizard and they know about the wizarding world.

Daniel has inherited his father's tall height or six foot two inches, and has kept his weight at a reasonable eight stone and three pounds for the past two or three years, through healthy eating and exercising. A lot of people could admire his hair and how long it has been grown, as it now falls all the way down his back, but then other people may look at him and say freak, but if he didn't care, he wouldn't have it this way.
He has inherited his mother's brown hair, instead of his father's black hair, which he is really quite thankful for, as he doesn't particularly like black hair. He has, however, inherited his father's brown eyes, against his mother's blue eyes, which he doesn't particularly care about, as he likes both coloured eyes. Both of his parents are Caucasian, but the whole family are tanned, as they have lived in Australia until Daniel turned ten, which is when they moved to England, to come home for his dad, as they were all getting fed up of Australia, and had somewhere to stay back in the UK. There isn't really much else to say about his appearance, as he doesn't have an abnormally shaped nose, eyes, mouth or ears.
Personality:
Daniel has always been a happy sort of child, making the most of his life. He will always stop and help the old lady cross the road, and he'll always be the one who will break up a fight, even if it means he gets injured. Even though some people think he's a freak, he has never really cared about that. Through life, he has never really had any ambitions, apart from to become a muggle paramedic, but he knows that probably won't happen, as he doesn't have any muggle qualifications, which yes, does sadden him. He has also noticed the barrier between him and his family, due to their different life styles. Muggle and wizard, which only complicates matters even worse with his family, as he's gay, and that makes talking about his love life rather awkward at the dinner table for him and his dad, as his dad doesn't particularly like gay relationships.
He has always been down to earth and mature about things in life, and he has a vast knowledge of what really happened in the history of the world, as he took Magical history classes, just so he could find out what really happened, which has also helped him develop as a person, and he often lectures his family about how magic took a big part in the majority of the events that helped the world form how it is now days. He also doesn't believe that the youth of today gets enough credit for what they do, after all, they are tomorrow's future, yet everyone just sees teenagers as a disturbance and they're all out to cause trouble, which in effect, is questioning what tomorrow's world will be like. He has also been told he is very opinionated and he is never afraid to voice his opinion, given the right time to do so. He has also always been polite to other people, even if it means his friends not agreeing with him, as he has always lived by the motto of ' Those who care won't matter, those who matter won't care. ', which is something he has always said as a young child.
Also, he used to get picked out to do a lot of main parts in his school plays, so this has only helped him boost his confidence over the years to be himself and not be afraid to speak out his own opinion, if he has one on the matter at hand. Also, due to his past, he has grown up rather quickly and got more mature than most people would at his age. He has never been interested in drinking, doing drugs, or even sleeping underage or just sleeping with anyone he can, he would also rather wait for his first proper kiss for that special someone. Also, he doesn't care for these teenage crushes people have on other people, as he knows the chances of staying with someone while being a teenager are very slim, as it is mostly just hormones racing around your body and altering your thoughts.
History:
Daniel was born on a blistering hot summer morning in Melbourne, Australia at home. A midwife had arranged a home birth for her, and she took the opportunity immediately. Daniel was born at a healthy five pounds six ounces, which seemed just about right for his height and everything else. The midwife then gave him his first medical check over at just over thirty seconds old. Everything was normal, and he was rather healthy, he had a normal pulse rate for his age and everything.
It was a few months later he experienced his first ambulance ride to hospital after he began to fit. The doctors in the emergency room couldn't figure out what it was, but a week later, he was discharged and sent back home. At the age of three, his parents found themselves in hospital again, but not for Daniel, it was for the birth of the newest addition to the family, Sally Halford. Being only three years old, Daniel couldn't remember all the details, except standing with Russell, his brother, watching mummy go off in an ambulance.
At the age of five, he finally began school. Nothing exciting, mind you. He got into his first ever school, life was normal, he made friends, the works. It then all changed when he turned nine. His parents were fed up of Australia, and they knew full well they had somewhere to stay in England, as that's where Daniel's dad came from. They soon packed up and found a flight to England, and moved into a semi-detached house in a small town near Portsmouth. He then went to a junior school there for the last years he would have in muggle education, or what he thought was his 'junior' education. It turned to his tenth birthday and all was well, he had got his new teacher, and he threw a party for his party, but then everything changed at the age of eleven. One morning an own came flying through the window and dropped a letter at his feet, then flew off. He thought it must be a mistake, but it was addressed to him, so he opened it, then read the letter. He had heard a story about some magical school, as it was the talking point a few years ago before he was born. He ignored it, until a lady came to the door, and asked to speak to his parents.
Naturally, he went off to find them. They came to the door, and invited the lady in, who sat them all down and told them what was going on. He was in shock. He couldn't be a 'wizard'. They were only from fairy tales. Still, his parents told him to go into the other room whilst they spoke it over with the nice lady. About an hour later, he was called back into the room. He was off to Hogwarts. His parents took him to this place called Diagon Alley after they were given directions from the lady and was told how to get there. They then went off and bought all his books using the money that the lady had given them to get it with, as it was quite obvious they wouldn't have any wizarding world money to buy the supplies. It was all fine and dandy, until he went off to buy a wand. He had gone through what felt like every wand in the store, then he finally found the right one. Eleven inches, string of dragon heart made from oak. He had never let go of it since that day, until he blended back in with the muggle society to go home. The moment he got home, he began reading through his spell books, to see what he would have in store for him. He was taken a back by the basic, yet effective stuff he would be learning in his first year at Hogwarts. He was tempted to try it, but he decided he'd rather wait until he can practice it in a safe and controlled environment.
His life at Hogwarts was normal, and he had always looked forward to going home at the end of the year, until his third year. He had to tell his parents something. By then, the wall between his world and the muggle world had already begun building up, but then when he had to tell his parents he was homosexual, it just made things even worse. Still, he got it out and over and done with, but it didn't stop things from being awkward still. He finally got to his sixth year, passing his O.W.Ls, and he knew he wanted to do something within the muggle world for a living,as he had grown up with it, but he knew he wouldn't be able to blend into the muggle society very easily, so that would just be a new challenge for him, one he was prepared to take up.
