OoC: Because we don't have nearly as many students as the book does, all years will be taught at the same time. Now, let the class begin!
Mordred walked into this classroom with an armful of books. Carefully he walked over to his desk and placed them gently on his desk. He raised his wand from his pocket and pointed it at the stack of books. One by one the books lifted themselves from his desk and landed firmly on the students desks. When they had all been sorted out and sat down in his chair and pulled out the days lesson plans, waiting on the students to arrive.

Gat walked in the room. 'So this is the Defence against the Dark Arts teacher,' he thought to himself. "Good day, professor," he said as he passed his desk. He sat down on the seat nearest the back of the class. He put his books on the desk in front of him. This was strange because he had not been first to class before, but he always showed respect for his professors. He was ready to start. He could not wait till it started because then he could put what he taught himself to use. He had not been taught defence before but he thought he could use it with the dark arts he had learned. He was keen to get going.

D'rorah entered quietly. As she passed Mordred, she nodded politely. "Good afternoon, Professor Kade." She took a seat in a desk at the front of the classroom, as was her habit. Setting a heavy book satchel beside her feet, she pulled our her DADA notebook. There were already notes in the book, as she had spent quite a bit of time in the library since arriving... mostly researching Shadows and such, but she had also carved out some time to get ahead in her studies. D'rorah was nothing if not studious. She wondered briefly what sort of teacher Mordred might be. Having encountered teachers who ranged from excellent to dreadful, and everything in between, in her life, she was prepared no matter what the lesson may bring. But she did ardently hope that the lesson would go well. The stories of Hogwart's had placed rather high expectations in her mind and education was something she took very seriously.

Alessandro entered the room to see Gat Soldier and D'rorah Philosophy already sitting in the room awaiting the rest of the class. He gave a brief glance over to the front of the room which beheld Professor Kade, patiently waiting.
He gave a warm smile to Dee and Gat as he silently slipped over to the desks. Dee had chosen the "Valedictorian" seat as he had called it. He himself chose the third seat in the third row. He lowered his sidebag to the floor and made himself comfortable while class was about to begin. I hope we cover a lot of ground today... He thought eagerly as he waited. He had procured a new wand designed for his ascending interest in dark arts and defenses. The wand had been working quite well for him as he felt the previous one he had owned was designed for novices.

Kono Mira Mongol and Yumi walked in taking up two empty tables towards the left of the room and spread out their things. They examined their books, took out their quills and wands and numerous sheets of parchment and began to scan the room. Kono spotted D'rorah and Gat so far that he recognized and realized the the professor was at his desk as well. Then he spotted Alessandro and after a few seconds of trying to get eye contact he gave up.
Kono took a deep breath and decided to fiddle around with his wand and things. He set his book aside a little bit and muttered "Wingardium Leviosa!" and watched the book begin to rise into the air. He quickly realeased the book from the charm before it got so high it became a noticable object and one to make loud noises when it fell. He decided to continue this until class started or at least until more people he knew arrived.

Mordred looked up at the clock then back to the class. After tapping his finger on his desk for a few moments, he began to speak. "We'll wait a little bit longer. I think we have some stragglers coming." Mordred chuckled a bit and returned back to his lesson plans. He picked up his quill and scribbled in a few side notes.

Wysteria opened the door to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom quietly. She knew she wasn't technically late, but she usually liked to arrive early the first day of class and now she was walking in only a few minutes before the start. Her tattered brown book bag was a bit heavier today since she was planning to take more notes in Defense Against the Dark Arts than she had in the past. Her mind was reeling with what had happened in the past few days, and she was grateful for classes to start. It was a refuge for her; she could focus only on taking notes and answering questions and let everything else fade into the background.
She spotted Kono, Alessandro, Dee, Yumi, and Gat already in class. She discreetly slid into a desk towards near the very back and took out a few sheets of dry parchment, a quill and ink. She dipped her quill, titled her first page and waited with bored patience for the start of class.

Mordred rose from his chair and strode to the door. Closed it, being careful not to make a huge slamming noise. Mordred walked back over to his desk and looked upon his students once again. "Mister Soldier, before it slips my mind, I'm awarding your house five points. You were the first to arrive in my class today." Mordred grabbed his wand off of his desk and pointed it at the board, the word Ennervate appeared directly in the center.
"For five points, who can tell me what this spell does."
Mordred smiled brilliantly, it had been a while since he had been in an actual class at Hogwarts.

D'rorah raised her hand. "The Ennervate spell re-energizes the object of the spell. It is typically used to revive someone who has been hit with a stunning spell," she replied calmly. "Actually, that is ironic, considering that the word 'ennervate' actually means to drain something of energy." She placed her hand back down, returning her attention to her notes.

Mordred pointed at Dee. "Precisely! Five points to Ravenclaw." Mordred began pacing back and forth in front of his desk, taking small slow steps. "In other words, the Ennervate spell is used to revive someone who has been rendered unconscious. Who can tell me why this knowing this spell would prove useful?" OoC: For my class. I only require at least 3 sentences per post.

Yumi waved her hand in the air rapidly. She knew the answer to the first question but D'rorah had said it first. She supposed she was glad that it was her house but she didn't like being shown up by anyone. This time she was going to get it. "Its useful because if you are in a wizarding duel or something of the sort you wouldn't have to wait for the victim of the spell to wake up. That and it would help if you were defending yourself and a friend of yours was hit you could just wake them up again." said Yumi proud of herself.

"I couldn't have said it better myself." Mordred stopped walking and walked behind his desk to examine his notes... After all, this was his first year teaching. "Who wants to be the first volunteer?"

D'rorah raised her hand. She always found that learning was best when is incorporated all aspects of the process. Seeing, hearing, and doing. She wondered which side of the spell she would be on.

Kono hesistated a moment to make sure no one else had already begun and tentatively raised his hand. He gripped his wand and waited to be told what to do. He didn't quite know how he was supposed to do a revival charm on... a non existent unconscious person was the term he decided best described the object. But rather than admit he didn't know what to do and risk looking like a moron at not knowing an easy answer he waited to be instructed what to cast the spell on.
