Nationality: American
Speech: English (several dialects and accents, both American and British); Hebrew (biblical and modern), Arabic, Aramaic, Akkadian, Greek, Sumerian, Amharic, Mandarin, Japanese, Thai, Russian, Yiddish, Spanish, Italian, German, and French... she has been studying languages her whole life and knows a total of 350 languages.
Blood: Pureblood
Father: Isaac Philosophy
Mother: Shoshanna Eisenberg Philosophy
Other: Current caretaker, Morrigan Kelly
New York Address:
330 East 38th St
Floor 57
New York, NY
Siblings: no siblings
Height: 5'11" (carries herself with an upright, dignified posture
Weight: 150 lbs
Hair Color: Her hair was blonde all of her life, but is now nearly all grey following several recent brushes with Shadow Corruption. It is waist-length, but few people realize how long her hair is because she always wears it carefully pinned atop her head in an intricate coif so that it is kept out of her way.
Eye Color: D'rorah's eyes were a grey-blue when she was younger, however the same near Shadow Corruptions which have greyed her hair have also taken the color from her eyes. Typically they are a light grey, though they darken to a darker black if she is under severe emotional distress or when she separates from her emotions.
Skin Color: White, quite pale.
Clothing style: Rarely wears anything that would be considered casual; prefers items with sleeves which reach past her wrists; when she does wear muggle clothes, she prefers ankle-length skirts and blouses with long sleeves. The collar of her formal robes reaches severely to her chin, so that the only flesh exposed is her hands and face.
Accessories: a silver necklace with her name in Hebrew script. She keeps it tucked inside her robes. It was a gift from her parents.
Other: Vegetarian, heavily scarred arms Update: Following a torture by the Mage (this one is looong overdue), nearly all of D'rorah's body is covered by the type of scars peculiar to Shadow Blades and the wounds inflicted during her stay in the Shadow Realm. Of course, it would be rare for anyone to see these, given her propensity for wearing clothes which cover everything except her hands and face.
Paragraph Format: D'rorah Eisenberg Philosophy, called "Dee" by those whom she allows to be close to her is an 18 year-old female from America. Her native tongue is English, though she speaks a variety of other languages. She is a pureblood, though she holds no prejudice against those who are half-blood or muggle-born. Her parents are Isaac and Shoshanna Philosophy, though she currently lives with a caretaker, Morrigan Kelly. She has no siblings, which is fortunate, because her caretaker loathes her and would not possibly consented to taking charge of more than one "thankless brat." Luckily, now that she is of age, she is no longer under his care and is free to move about as she pleases. Dee tends to tower over her peers, standing at a height of 5'11", she carries her lean form with pride and dignity. Her hair reaches past her waist and is a blond and grey that almost looks like a mixture of silver and gold which is slightly waved. She typically wears it tightly wrapped and secured with a great number of pins to keep it out of the way. Her grey eyes and pale white skin give her an almost ethereal appearance, rather like someone who spends very little time in the sun. She rarely wears anything casual, and tends to prefer robes, even outside of school. She prefers robes in jewel tones of emerald and sapphire, with long, intricately embroidered sleeves. On the very rare occasion that she does doff muggle clothes, she tends to choose ankle-length skirts and blouses with long sleeves. The long sleeves cover her heavily scarred arms, relics left by the attackers who murdered her parents. Dee does not typically wear jewelry, with the exception of a silver necklace which bears her name in Hebrew script, the last gift she received from her parents before their deaths. She received it for completing confirmation with her synagogue.
Personality: Dee is a very quiet individual and typically slow to trust. She is not shy, and is quite capable of speaking her mind, but has little patience for silliness or laziness. She is studious and quite dedicated to her academic pursuits.
While she is not mean... the best word to describe her is simply... cold. D'rorah closes herself off from others. Rarely does she betray emotion. Her parents had suspected early on that she might possess the abilities of a telepath; those suspicions were confirmed when she was five years old. From that time, her mother and father coached her, teaching her to strengthen her mind, to wall it off from the outside, lest the become overwhelmed by the thoughts and emotions of those around her. This is one part of the reason she is so cold and always in control.
Before she came to Hogwart's, she attended Falstaff's and was always apart from the others, aloof. Some mistook it for snobbishness, but the truth was that she simply did not have time. Her days and nights were spent immersed in her studies... from magic and philosophy, to languages, weaponry, and martial arts. Even her swordmaster had often commented on her cold demeanor, admonishing her that opening up to others was not a weakness. However, years spent in the company of texts and parchments were not conducive to learning to share herself with others. Cold and closed she remained. When her parents died, that cold personality only became more pronounced. They had been her only link to warmth, love, and compassion. Now, she feels as though she faces the world, an outsider even among those who would be counted as her peers.
History: D'rorah is a seventh-year student, newly transferred from an American wizarding school, Falstaff's. She grew up in New York City. From a very young age, her parents pushed her to learn and excel. Her father, Isaac, was a Rabbi and multinational ambassador for the American Council of Magic. Her mother, Shoshanna, was a musician who sang and played the concert piano. Due to her parents' professions, D'rorah traveled extensively when she was younger and learned to speak many languages, always striving to speak each one with a native accent. Her father always stressed the importance of philosophy and languages, equivocating a mastery of language and an ability to think and reason effectively with success and happiness in life. Her parents were very demanding of her; from a young age, Dee was always immersed in studies. She rarely found time for friends or indeed, felt any need for them.
From her mother, Dee learned to play piano, and inherited not only her voice, but an inborn talent for telepathy. Her telepathic abilities were discovered around the age of five, and from that point forward, she was trained to be very guarded with her mind and emotions. She was also taught to respect the sanctity of the minds of others and typically will not use her mentalist abilities unless the other party agreed; though sometimes she will mistakenly let her guard down and find herself immersed in the thoughts of others.
Dee was living somewhat of a charmed life until the spring of her sixth year at Falstaff's. During a visit home from school, she witnessed the brutal murder of her parents and was afterward attacked by the murderers, agents of the Shadow Mage who were sent to traumatise the young Shadow Warrior and drive her to Corruption so that she might join the ranks of the Mage. The bindings used by the attackers left the scars which cover her arms today, and she has been unable to find any way of removing them.
Her new caretaker now resides in London, so the summer before her seventh year, she was packed up and unceremoniously shipped off to Hogwart's to finish her education. For the first time in her life, she feels quite alone and a bit unsure of herself, having been taken away abruptly from everything she had ever known or trusted.
Dee is a workaholic and will often pursue her research and studies to the point that she neglects her sleeping and eating habits. Her parents' constant pushing for success in all that she did means that Dee will accept nothing less than perfection in her endeavors. She is particularly interested in the Dark Arts and pursues them relentlessly in the hopes of developing new and better methods of defense. She is ambitious and driven by an intense desire to succeed. While researching with a professor at Falstaff's, her research team discovered a method of blocking Unforgivable Curses using musical magic. This research was kept confidential, so is known by only very few people.
After arriving at Hogwarts, D'rorah began her search for her fellow Shadow Warriors and Elemental Masters, collectively known as Lightfighters. One of the first she found was Gat Soldier, an Elemental Master of Water who defected to the Shadow Mage's side. He captured and tortured D'rorah, leaving her with scars covering her body from Shadow Blades and the dark magic used to try to push her to corruption. Gat was much later killed and the abilities have passed on to a new Elemental Master.
