Zephyr was feeling restless that night for no particular reason, or so he thought. He had finished his homework early, and it seemed that there was nothing that could get in the way of going to bed. But once he was trying to get to sleep, he just kept tossing and turning and shutting his eyes tightly to no avail. After nearly an hour of pointless attempts to slumber, he finally decided to just get out of bed. He had no idea what it was that he could do till he would actually feel sleepy, but he headed to the Slytherin common room anyway. Perhaps he would get some ideas there. Or not.
It was half-past midnight, and the common room was already empty. The fireplace was already dim, and there was hardly any trace of any activity that had taken place during the day. Well that was good. Zephyr couldn't imagine living in a House full of slobs. He fished out his wand from inside his robes and pointed it to the fireplace. "Incendio," he breathed out, setting the remaining firewood ablaze. Zephyr looked around for a moment just to make sure that no one else was around. He then tucked his wand back into his robes before he sat himself down in front of the hearth.
"Six years," Zephyr whispered to himself as he stared at the fire. "Where did they go?" He released a soft sigh and propped his chin on his fists. Indeed, his years in Hogwarts had gone by so fast, and now the term was once again coming to an end. And there he was yet again, left with no involvement whatsoever. He realized then that this could be one of the things that was bothering him. Everyone else around him seemed to be caught up in something other than school. He huffed. "Why do I suddenly care?"
He really wasn't very conscious of the fact that he was speaking to himself again.
[[ OOC: sorry it's a bit short. we're really just looking for a place to start. :3 ]]

Brody McNamara was not having that great of a night. he was so worried about his exam results that he just couldn't sleep. he had poured his heart and soul into his studies hoping to prove himself to his family. Unfortunately, it just didn't seem to be enough. He had received a letter from his parents that his maternal grandparents were seriously considering Collin as the next heir. That bothered him tremendously because Collin was like only 3 and they were really starting to consider him already? This was not good.
Brody when he had first arrived at Hogwarts had been so sure he would be the next heir for the Lobdale fortunes and grounds, the latest news was sending that certainty down the toilet. He couldn't let his little cousin beat him, he just couldn't! He was the eldest grandson, he should be the heir not stupid Collin or Craig. he was working so hard to prove himself, but none of it seemed to have left much of an impact as of yet.
Sure he supposed it was still early, this was only his third year-he still had another four at Hogwarts, but he had a seriously tall order ahead of him. He had worked so hard to ace his exams he wanted to know how he had did right then and now. And it was because of these things Brody just couldn't fall asleep.
He looked as his watch to see how late it was and sighed. It was very late, so the Common Room should be empty by now. Perhaps some reading would calm his nerves enough that he could sleep a bit. And so he grabbed a book on Ancient Norse Elemental Magic and headed to the Common room. He was pretty sure no one would be there, so he grabbed his green blanket off his bed and planned on lounging out on the sofa by the fire reading by the light of his wand.
When he got there, he heard a voice and soon came to realize he apparently wasn't the only one restless this night. He remained silent not wanting to disturb whomever was in there and stepped quietly toward the fireplace. Questions where and why he suddenly cared floated in the room. It seemed to little Brody something obviously was bothering the older Slytherin boy and he thought about heading back to his room to just lie. But Brody was tired of just lying there. He took a seat on opposite side of the fireplace where the older boy was and timidly asked:
"Are you okay? Do you mind if I just sit hear for a while to read? I just can't seem to sleep. I'll go if I am bothering you though."

((Its been a while since there were actually people other than myself and Zane in Slytherin. If you don't want me here I will delete the post.))
As with most nights Keaira was not in the dorms yet, even though it was well past curfew. But then again she was a prefect and with that came certain benefits including the ability to roam the corridors well into the nights searching for students that were not as privileged as she was. As with every night she found a student or two slinking around well past the time they were supposed to be in their dorms, and so she escorted them to their common room portraits, and left them to their evening’s activities. Sometimes she stumbled upon a couple snogging in some secluded class room, and had the unfortunate task of sending them back to their separate houses for the evening. Tonight however had been a rather uneventful patrol, and as such she had ended early and taken the seven flights of stairs up to the tallest point in Hogwarts for a little bit of alone time.
Once she had reached the top of the Astronomy tower Keaira had all the time in the world to just relax and think. She thought about the war, and how she never really understood why someone would chose to be on the side of Dark Phoenix. She thought about her classes, and wondered if she would be able to achieve everything she intended. She did after all need an exceptional amount of owls in order to pursue a career of her liking, whether it was a potions master, or a healer, or well anything of the like. She knew she would have to work exceptionally hard in the upcoming weeks to ensure that everything went as planned, which basically was to get an O in every class. After all if you ace everything how can you fail to get a good career?
She must have sat in the tower for nearly two hours while her mind wound down and began to relax itself. By that point she decided to climb back down through the castle, and make her way to the common room, with only a quick stop in the kitchens for her tea before bed. With her tea mug in hand Keaira walked down the hall to the common room, gave the password and stepped through the portal. As with every night she was cautious with her entrance, aware that there may be people sleeping on the couches surrounded by their study materials in a last ditch effort to learn what they should already know. Tonight the room held two individuals, although neither of them was really studying for any exam. It wasn’t curious sight by any means, or at least it wouldn’t have been if it didn’t seemed like she had just intruded upon a private conversation of sorts.
However awkward of a situation Keaira may have stumbled in on she never let any unease show. After all, if it was meant to be a private conversation the common room was not the place for it to occur. Sipping her tea as she went, Keaira moved to a comfy chair a bit off to the outer edge of the fire places’ glow, and took a seat. Her school robes were pristine as always, and the silver of her prefects badge reflected the light from the fire perfectly. As she got herself situated she set her cup of tea on a small table beside the chair, and looked at the pair of boys who had gathered in the room for this late meeting.
“Evening gentlemen, I hope I’m not intruding.”

(OOC: I have no problem with you being here Keaira, but it wasn't originally my post so dunno how good my word is. Oh and sorry for being MIA. I was visiting family for a couple of weeks and was meaning to get here to post wen I got back last week, but I've been busy getting my new classroom ready ever since then or at some Teacher workshop--Gosh I despise starting new schools! So sorry!)
Apparently it seemed th other boy preferred to be left alone as he didn't seem to budge at all or even really acknowledge Brody's appearance so Brody assumed his intrusion was not necessarily unwelcome. He shrugged his shoulders casually as the seemed to simply continue to think about whatever he was thinking. Brody was not necessarily worried or shocked because Brody himself was never very extroverted, so he didn't take the ignoring personally. Whatever might have been bothering the older boy probably wasn't something an older boy would mention to younger student, especially to someone he barely knew.
And so as he initially planned, Brody curled on the couch underneath his green blanket and was reading his book again happily. It was helping him to relax a bit, but he still wanted to know how he had done on his exams desperately. He had a lot to prove after all.
Shortly after Brody settled in, it seemed there was another restless Snake about. This time it was an older girl, a Prefect. She said nothing much to either the other boy or Brody himself but she did make a greeting.
"Good evening to you as well. I don't think you are intruding, but I wasn't the first one here. You might want to ask him, but he hasn't said much of anything to him, so I'm guessing all is okay."

((its alright he’s been MIA too, so no big.))
The two boys in the common room didn’t seem to be much of the talkative types, but then again it was well past midnight, and for all she knew they could both be sleeping with their eyes open. It didn’t really matter to her too much, she after all had her own evenings work to attend to still that night. However, a little down time to converse with her fellow classmates probably wouldn’t keep her too occupied, particularly considering the conversation so far.
Listening to the younger boys remarks Keaira quietly took a few sips of her tea, it was soothing to feel the warm liquid flow down her throat, and even more so when she began to feel its effects. Or rather maybe it would be more correct to say that she began to not feel them as they numbed her senses, and her mind relaxed itself in preparation for bed.
It’s odd that she still maintained this ritual, as even now she noticed how much of a disadvantage it left her at. If her enemies knew what the mixture truly did to her, they would know when they should be around to attack her. Such a weakness was not a good idea while she remained part of a war. Setting the cup aside unfinished as of yet, she decided to address the younger boys comments.
“Well generally I don’t ask if I am intruding, as I feel that the common room is to be shared, and therefore intruding isn’t something that can generally happen. However, it is late, and nighttime can change things. Let’s see, I think your name is Brody right? I’m Keaira if you don’t know, but I find that most people already know my name. Well that aside, what keeps you awake at this hour in the night, surely that book isn’t that amazing is it?
As she began the process of what was surely to be a few moments of mindless chatter, Keaira put her mind to work, sorting through the day’s events mentally marking the ones that she thought were notable enough to meditate upon. As of yet she still hadn’t done anything to make amends with D’rorah, but then again she had caused quite a stir, and maybe it would take some time before Keaira would be ready to face that. Although, Keaira did wonder on a few occasions if she would find a way to make things better with D’rorah, before one of them became a victim of the war for good.

Brody considered Keaira's words for a few moments and then nodded ina greement. That was how he felt to. The Common Room, was well a Common Room so anyone in the Noble House of Slytherin had every right to be there and shouldn't worry baout intruding. He nodded ot the older girl in approval.
"I agree completely. And yes, you got my name right. I am Brody."
He paused momentarily and slid his leather bookmark into the book so he wouldn't lose his place and gave his undivided attention to the older girl.
"Hi Keaira. I thought that was your name, but wasn't sure. I've never been too good with names. Glad I was right for once!"
He siad the last bit in a tad of a joking manner in an attempt to mask his nervousness conversing with someone older than he was. He never had been a good conversationalist after all.
"As for why I'm up at this insane hour, well I just am nervous about my exam results. I need to get O's on them all if I have any chance of beating out my younger cousin Collin for the title of Lobdale heir. Up[ until three years ago i was groomed to be the perfect heir and now suddenly I have competition and it is unnerving. I'm so much older so whatever I do now, my cousin and little brother could possibly beat me."
He sighed and then continued:
"But I shouldn't bore you to death with what is keeping me up. And actually this book is quite fascinating, but not quite the oh- my-god-keep-you-up-to-the-wee-hours-of - the-morning-great. I purposefully kept those books at home. How about you, what keeps you up at this late hour if you don't mind me prying."
