Ariana Gemini Cromwell-Romulus was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her husband and son in her luxurious London home. She had been waiting in the sitting room for almost an hour now, fretting that something wrong had happened upon them along the way. She cast off that negative thought as she knew quite well that her husband was quite the accomplished wizard, and that her son definitely knew how to defend himself. None-the-less, she still had that motherly worry about her. She had slumped down into one of the comfy chairs she had retained from her previous marriage to Alessandro's father, it was a large, gaudy, eyesore of an armchair that she hadn't the heart to dispose of because Alessandro liked it so. Her eyes kept darting over to the fireplace, for any minute now, the pair would be arriving by floo network.
In an instant, there was a bright green flash of light that Ariana had to shield her eyes from as her eyes had been relaxed from the dimly lit sitting room she was in. She lowered her arms as the light diminished to see Hewlett and her son standing there. Alessandro had tears in his eyes and she could tell he was fighting back the urge to scream at her, at anyone nearby.
"Alessandro, darling....please don't be upset!" Ariana exclaimed as she saw the look on his face. She abruptly stood up from the chair she had been starting to regain comfort in, but instantly that melted away upon her son's arrival.
"No mother! DON'T!" Alessandro bellowed. He shook away from Hewlett's arm, and angrily approached his mother until they were standing face to face. She went to embrace him, but she was cast off. "Why was I withdrawn from Hogwarts?!" He cried, hot tears flowing down his cheeks, his long dark brown hair wild from travel.
Ariana knew he would question her motives, but she had good reason. If the safety of her only child meant to withdraw him from obtaining his magical education, then so be it.
"Darling, please calm down..." He voice quavered. "You don't know what I've been going through here. I've been hearing awful things about Hogwarts. It's become a dangerous place! Dementors?! Shadows?! I heard a student DIED, Alessandro, now you can't blame me for taking the necessary precautions." Her eyes had now welled up with tears of her own.
Alessandro clenched his jaw and shook his head. "Do you understand that I can handle myself?!" He cried. "You're only fifteen!" His mother countered. "I have looked darkness in the face, mother, you know VERY well what I'm capable of...." As he said those last words, Ariana thought she had caught a glimpse of flames flickering in her son's eyes. She gently lowered herself back into the chair she had been sitting in.
"Ari...perhaps the boy needs some rest....we should talk to him tomorrow. Perhaps then he shall have a better attitude." Hewlett chimed in as he moved over toward his wife. Alessandro resented every ounce of his step-father at this moment. His eyes winced as his entire body felt anger and pain as he looked at him.
Alessandro wanted to cast him aside and tell his mother that he had remembered everything. How she and his real father had obliviated his memories as a child. How they had created some mental barriers in his mind to prevent him from tapping into his elemental abilities. He was so angry right now, but fatigue was definitely setting in and Hewlett's suggestion of rest sounded quite appealing right now.
Alessandro swallowed hard and closed his eyes. He wiped his face and looked at his parents. "You're right, I am feeling a bit...tired..." He trailed off. "We should talk tomorrow." He said caustically as he passed his mother and step-father and ascended the stairs. He entered his room and slammed the door. Flopping face down on his bed, he let out an angry sigh. Thoughts of Hogwarts were flooding through his brain. How could his mother have withdrawn him like that, at such a pivotal time in the shadow wars! He was advancing nicely in his studies and as well as mastering his elemental abilities over fire. It all was very unfair. Still wearing his Hogwarts robes, he closed his eyes and let himself drift off into a restless sleep, thinking of all of his friends and missing the lightfighters.
"Do it Hewlett....I can't bear it....This was done once before...but, Luciano was the one...make him forget, make him forget all of those horrible things that are going on at Hogwarts." Ariana urged her husband. She stood at the doorway to Alessandro's room as Hewlett approached his step-son with his wand brandished. Ariana closed her eyes and turned away as she heard Hewlett's voice.
"OBLIVIATE" Hewlett's deep voice bellowed in his step-sons bedroom, resonating off of the walls. Alessandro awoke instantly in a groggy state, turning to see what the commotion was and was blasted in the face with a blinding, silvery-blue light that filled up the room and obscured everything from sight.
When the light died down, Alessandro was still in the same position as he was when he turned to look at his step-father. His eyes were vacant as he continued to stare off into space, Hewlett's wand remained pointed on target. It was as if someone had cast a stone at a wall of glass, and on that glass were faces and names, pictures of events, memories, thoughts, and knowledge. The glass wall had shattered, showering down fragments of glittering memories that Alessandro now could not recall.
He blinked twice, then thrice. He took a breath. "Hew...whats wrong??" He asked groggily as he rolled over and rubbed his eyes. "Nothing, Alessandro...your mother and I heard you screaming. You were having a nightmare." He said coldly as he turned on heel and walked out of the room, closing the door.
