After a few minutes of wondering around and trying to find where she was suppose to go, Blaire finally found the stone gargoyle that gaurded Headmistress LaPoint's office. She was hesitant to say the password, half doubting that it would work, but softly, "Diplomacy,"escaped her lips and a stairway appeared. Blaire kind of jumped onto the step like she was worried that it would dissapear and she would never have the oppertunity again. Out of no where, Blaire laughed at her actions.
She stood looking at the door for a few moments before she knocked quite loudly, her nerves had disappeared and her excitment had taken over. She was about to get a top honor as a student. As she thought of that a huge smile spread across her face and she waited for the headmistress to open the door.

Caira looked up from her desk, smiling as she heard a sound at the door. "Please, come in," she called cheerily as she waved her wand and the door swung wide open. Upon seeing that it was Blaire, her smile brightened.
"Oh Blaire, dear, thank you so much for coming quickly." She stood from her chair and came from behind her desk to greet Blaire. "So then, our new Gryffindor prefect," she chirped. "Well, how exciting all of this must be for you. Let's see now..." she opened her desk drawer and reached inside looking for something. Finally, she pulled out a shiny prefect's badge along with a key and a certificate.
"Well, of course, you'll wear this," she said handing her the badge. "And this is the key to the Prefects' bathroom on the fifth floor. And then this," she said, handing her a calligraphied certificate, "you can send home for your parents to frame. I'm sure they'll be so proud!" She tilted her head, her smile becoming a bit mischievous. "Now, I understand you're a bit of a jokester, but you'll have to be setting a good example for the other students from now on," she remarked, her voice still cheerful. "I'm sure you'll be just great as a prefect, too. Now, you probably have questions for me, I'm sure, so go right ahead."

Blaire jumped back a little sartled when the door flew open on it's own, but seeing the headmistress made her excitment grow even more. "Hello Professor LaPointe." Blaire said happily as she entered the room.
"I was my pleasure." Blaire said when she thanked her and smiled when she spoke of excitment. Blaire stood there quietly, looking at all the little trinketsin the office, as the teacher rumaged though her things in the desk drawer. When she pulled out a bright shiney badge, light caught it and made Blaire pull back into the conversation with the professor.
"Thank you." She said taking the badge from Headmistress LaPointe and pinned on her robes and dropping the key in her pocket, "Yes, i think they will be proud."Blaire said when she took the certificate and looked it over. You you tell the writing was hand done, but it was so exact and beautiful.
"Me a jokester? Never," Blaire joked and noticed that the smile on Professor LaPointe's face had changed slightly. Now it was time for questions. Coming up here, Blaire had had many, now she could only think of a few.
"Could you explain to me the powers I have as a prefect? Just to make sure I understand them." She asked.

"Well, as a prefect, you have the power to give and deduct points from other students. A power you'll want to be very careful with," she added. "You want to be fair and really shouldn't be doing that very often. Mostly, your job is to set a good example for the other students in your house... answering questions for the younger students, being a leader for your house." She looked at her thoughtfully. "They'll look to you when they're confused about what to do or when they have problems to solve. You've been chosen as a prefect because we feel you'll be good at helping students who have problems to talk them out. And you'll be the one in charge of finding answers when they have questions about what they're supposed to be doing."
She handed her a copy of the handbook. "Make sure you're familiar with all the rules of the school. You'll be expected to help enforce them when teachers aren't around. If you're have a particularly difficult time or a problem, I would normally say to go to your head of house... but since you don't have one at the moment, please feel free to come to me until we find a new head of house any time there's something you can't handle alone or an answer you can't find."
She paused, giving Blaire an opportunity to ask any other questions she might have.

"I don't think I will have any trouble with taking or giving points," Blire smiled. She honostly thought this, she didn't have any enemies so she was in no hurry to take any away. However, knowing that Gryffindor had few points there was a temptation to give the house some.
As the headmistress went on, every once in a while Blaire would nod to show she was listening. Taking the good sized book from Professor LaPointe. She wondered how many students in the school actually knew all the school's rules. She knew she didn't.
Upon hearing her speak about problem's Blaire might have she snickered to herself. Blaire was a little bit of a perfectionist. If she is new at something she wanted to be told exactly how to do it, each little step. Unless it was of course common sense.
Not knowing any otherquestion to ask, blaire said, "Where is the prefects bathroom?"

"It's on the fifth floor, the other prefects can help you getting settled into your position." Caira thought for a moment. "Let's see... that's Wysteria Edwin, Keaira O'Connell, and," she sighed a bit, as though the very name irritated her, "D'rorah Philosophy. The first two are very pleasant. The last is a stuck up know-it-all who has all the warmth of a glacier. I wouldn't bother with asking her for any help if you can avoid it."
She shook her head and resumed her smile. "So then, sounds like you're all set. Let me know if you come up with anymore questions or is there's anything you need that your fellow prefects can't help you with. We might need your help too when I find a new head of house for Gryffindor. He or she will probably need time to get settled in and a reliable student to show him or her around and keep things in order while getting acclimated."

Blaire listened to Headmistress LapOinte and was very suprised when she spoke about a student like that. She didn't know D'rorah, but she had seen her in hallways. She looked like a pleasent person, "Really? She seems to be an alright girl, " Blaire decided she would be a little brave for her first meeting with the headmistress, " And truthfully, Professor, I'm suprised that you would say that about a student."
Blaire's smile came back to her when the subject changed,"I would be happy to show them around and I will let you know if I have anymore questions." Blaire smiled but her thoughts were still on what Headmistress LaPointe said before.

"Alright? She can't even follow the dress code properly," lamented Caira, recalling the times she had admonished D'rorah at the alterations to her robes. "Anyway, I suppose it might be a bit surprising, but I just thought I would warn you. She is very haughty. Of course, you're free to make your own decision. I just thought it would be considerate of me to mention my observations." Her sunny smile reappeared on her face. "You're a brave girl, standing up to me not ten minutes after you were appointed to prefect... I guess you're a true Gryffindor. I look forward to seeing how you'll handle your position.
"Well, I should get back to my paperwork. Administrative duties and such to attend to, of course, dear." She gesture loosely at the pile of papers scattered about her desk. "Glad to have you on board."

"Don't get me wrong, Professor, i appreciate you giving me your opinion. And I'm sure that I'll take it into consideration if I meet her." Blaire assured Headmistress LaPointe. She rather liked the way some students gave their uniforms a flare of there own personality. It set t hem apart from everyone else.
"You're a brave girl, standing up to me not ten minutes after you were appointed to prefect... I guess you're a true Gryffindor."
Blaire smiled at the compliment given to her. She was really looking forward to being looked up to. She smiled at Headmistress LaPointe when she gestured to the papers strewn across her desk, "it was very nice to finally meet you Headmistress. I'll let you get back to work." She held out her hand to shake the woman's in front of her. Blaire respected Professor LaPointe for sharing her opinions, but she wasn't sure if she was someone that she would want to spend afternoon tea with.
Blaire turned around and walked out of the door, back down the stair case, letting her feet lead her to where they wanted to go. The badge she had pinned on her robes sparkled as it moved in sync with her body.
