Waiting for the Headmistress

Gat was sleeping in his dorm when he was disturbed by an owl. Suddenly it pecked him in the eye. Gat sat up with a start and swiped at the bird while holding his eye. Then Gat noticed that there was a message at the foot of his bed. Still rubbing his eye, he picked it up. 'The Headmistress, what does she want?' He asked himself. He slowly got off his bed and felt bad for abandoning his mid day sleep. Gat slowly made his way out of the dormitory and up the stairs. Then he remembered how long a way that was, why did his common room have to be in the dungeon? He felt so sleepy and nearly fell asleep on the way and he knocked into a young girl. He staggered up the last set of stairs and collapsed. He slowly got up and realized that all he knew about the Headmistresses office was that it was on the sixth floor. He sat down again and just waited for her to show up.

Caira stepped from her office, bound for the Great Hall when she noticed Gat Soldier, sitting there, waiting for her. "Ahhh... Gat," she said, keeping up her sunny disposition. "So glad you could finally make it. Please, this'll only take a quick second."

Turning, she led the way into her office, holding the door for him to follow. She crossed the room to her desk and sat on the front of it, lounging on the desktop casually. She muttered a few quick spells to be certain no one was around before she spoke. "Now, Gat, I understand from my mistress that you were in charge of the torture of one of your classmates in the Shadow Realm. When she returned, I made sure to modify her memory so that she would not recognize you as the perpetrator... Now that she has returned and has been released from the infirmary, I'd like to have you keep tabs on her for me... your identity should be safe, so it should be no difficult task to pick up your old research projects. Dark Phoenix has her ideas about the girl and for now, we are simply to see that she remains here... along with her... friends." She snorted a bit, "as though anyone so cold and snobbish could actually have any friends."

She crossed her arms and looked up at him. "I expect regular reports from you... and I expect you will be at my beckon call for whenever you are needed. Now then, do you have any questions or news to report?"

Gat was about to dose off as he noticed the headmistress approaching.

[glow=red,2,300]"Ahhh... Gat, so glad you could finally make it. Please, this'll only take a quick second."[/glow]

Gat started to get up and followed the headmistress into her room.

[glow=red,2,300]"Now, Gat, I understand from my mistress that you were in charge of the torture of one of your classmates in the Shadow Realm. Gat spoke up, interrupting her.

"I am terribly sorry, but D'rorah knows who I am. I cannot do what you ask because she has entered my mind and in our last encounter, I was attacked." Gat felt angry. 'It wasn't as if it was my fault. No one informed me that her memory had been modified.'

"I have another problem." Gat paused.

"I have a life debt with her." He confessed. He could not believe that this had happened. He could have saved himself from the dementors. He scowled at the ground.

"Professor Spade has been found out as well. You are the only one that is still not under suspicion." Gat stopped wondering how she would respond.

Caira listened to Gat's information with a growing look of displeasure on her face. "I took care of all the hard part," she said, shaking her head with annoyance. "All you two had to do was keep yourselves secret." She exhaled and shifted her weight where she sat. "If you've been found out, I'll have to have you and Jared leave... there just really isn't any way around that. To keep you here would just blow my cover right out of the water. I'll have to pretend to make an example of both of you... when you're both dismissed, you'll be expected to report to Dark Phoenix immediately." Suddenly, Caira understood all too well why the Mage preferred to use women to carry out her orders, apparently men weren't capable of doing so intelligently.

"And you'd better not bring up that life debt nonsense to Dark Phoenix either... she won't care. And honestly, it doesn't matter." She laughed derisively, "Do you honestly think anyone will care about your honor in filling a life debt while you're working on the side of Shadows?"

She took a deep breath and exhaled quickly. "Is there anything else youv'e done that I'll have to fix? If not, I expect you to leave here looking suitably angry... in fact..." she presented her left cheek to him. "Hit me... hard enough to make it convincing. No one will ever believe that you left here willingly. And that's not a request, it's as good as an order from Dark Phoenix herself."

Spade could no longer listen in secret. "That's unnecessary. Leave the boy alone Caira it wasn't him. If anything i'm to blame. But hey mistakes happen, and you are one to know all about mistakes. Especially ones that you don't have to take the blame for. Or should we say punishment, "he said lifting his left sleeve to display a scar that ran down his arm.

"Gat, your dismissed. I have something i have to talk about with you, Miss "Head Mistress" so can we please wrap this meeting between you two up?"

Jared rolled his sleeve down and tried to find something in the office to occupy his time. 'I haven't gotten all day Caira so if you will," he concluded indicating it's time for the meeting to end. "I'm a busy man with busy things to do so..."

"You'll both be publicly dismissed Jared," replied Caira hotly. "You're right though, it was entirely your fault that they've found out who you both are." She tapped her fingers on the desk as she thought for a moment. "Officially, I don't know about that happened on the grounds yet... I'm still waiting for the report from Mordred... as the Defense teacher, he's the one in charge of security. But once he reports to me, you'll both have to leave the school."

She turned to Jared. "Jared, I have contacts within the ministry... we'll find you something..." an evil smile spread across her face. "Oh yes... Head Auror..." she said, crossing her arms as she considered the thought. "I'm surprised I didn't think about it before."

"You're dismissed from the office Gat... I'll be calling for you soon though... as soon as I hear about the incident on the grounds... as soon as I have to publicly dismiss you both. Not a word to anyone."

She turned to Jared. "So then, what was it you wished to discuss?"

[glow=red,2,300]"Hit me... hard enough to make it convincing. No one will ever believe that you left here willingly. And that's not a request, it's as good as an order from Dark Phoenix herself." [/glow]

"No, I will not leave Hogwarts, not everyone knows that I am folowing my mistress. Please, dont make me go." He said as he slammed his hand on the table. He was surprised when Professor Spade turned up.

[glow=red,2,300]"Gat, your dismissed. I have something i have to talk about with you, Miss "Head Mistress" so can we please wrap this meeting between you two up?"[/glow]
"No. I will not leave, I am not going to live in the shadows or do your little jobs somewhere else. Give me another chance." Gat said angrily. He needed that chance. He would find the others and would bring back the orbs. No matter what it took.

(Besides, this site is based on Hogwarts, whats the fun of this site if I'm not allowed in it?)

Caira turned her gaze to regard the young man who dared to contradict her in her own office. She pursed her lips, almost pouting as she considered the situation. "Well, officially, I do not know of the situation, given that none of the staff or students have reported it to me." She crossed her arms and tilted her head as she looked at him. "You may stay... but if the news of what has happened is brought to me by another student or professor, I will have no choice but to expel you from Hogwart's. Allowing you to remain would jeopardize my own identity and I simply will not allow that."

She turned to Jared. "The same goes for you at the moment. I suppose I could come up with a plausible reason for dismissing you... otherwise, you should both remain here until the events you speak of are brought to my attention."

Seemingly having decided that this settled the matter at hand, she nodded to herself and once again dredged up her brilliant smile, preparing to face the world at large.

"You may stay... but if the news of what has happened is brought to me by another student or professor, I will have no choice but to expel you from Hogwart's. Allowing you to remain would jeopardize my own identity and I simply will not allow that."

Gat was about to open his mouth to reply but thought better of it. He stormed from the room. He could not believe that he was going to be EXPELLED!! He turned the first corner. 'What did I do to be expelled!!' He thought to himself. He went down the stairs. 'I didn't give away my identity, Jared did.' He thought getting angrier and angrier. He was so angry that he started arguing with himself.
