Caira woke the next morning to turmoil. D'rorah Philosophy had disappeared from the infirmary the previous night. She had to find the girl... she was annoyed with herself for having left her alone. Of course, she was the headmistress and had other duties to attend to. There was no way she could spend her entire time watching the girl... and who would think anyone with injuries like that would be able to escape from Hogwart's? Everything would have been fine if Gat hadn't tried to abduct her, ruining Caira's carefully laid plans.
She sent out owls to students she had seen D'rorah with, especially the others who had been in the room of requirement that night. Surely they would know more about her than this dismally inadequate file told. Nothing about her parents' holdings from before their deaths... though she had worked with Isaac before he died, she had had very little dealings with his personal affairs... which was lucky because it meant D'rorah didn't recognize her.
She looked up. "Come in please," she called sweetly as there was a knock on the door. She looked at the first name she had summoned. Wysteria Edwin.

Wyseria had awoken to several unpleasant surprises that morning. A strange nightmare had penetrated her dreams, but she couldn't for the life of her remember what it might have been about. As she rolled out of bed and headed downstairs the only thing on her mind was eating; the excursions of the previous day had left her with a large appetite and she was looking forward to eating a well-deserved large breakfast. Just as she sat down at the Hufflepuff table, and owl fluttered through the hall and landed a small note in front of her. Wysteria picked up the small parchment and examined it for a moment. Her name was written in loopy well-formed caligraphy; raising an eyebrow she tore open the letter and tried to hold back a gasp as she read the contents.
Drorah was missing and the headmistress wanted to see her in her office and question her about it. Alone. Wysteria took a few carefully timed breaths as she felt her surroundings fade away. Drorah was missing?! Again? How could this have happened, after all everyone did to keep her safe and LaPointe taking her to the infirmary. Suddenly Wysteria's blood ran cold...
All that mattered was preparing for what Wyst could assume was either an interrogation or an innnocent request for information. However, Professor's Albion's words rang in her head...the Headmistress might not be trustworthy...
Taking a few pieces of toast to munch on while she walked, Wysteria walked briskly to the Headmistress LaPointe's office, spoke the password and headed up the stairs. She stood in front of the door for a moment, took a deep breath and knocked softly before letting herself in.
"You wanted to see me Headmistress?" she asked in a polite but reserved tone.

Caira looked up and smiled. "Yes Wysteria. Please, have a seat," she said, gesturing to an overstuffed chair facing her desk. "And please, please, call me Caira. I've never been very fond of using a title as my name." She smiled again before shifting to a more serious expression.
"I don't know whether my note this morning might have come as a shock, but your friend D'rorah seems to have run away from Hogwart's. Poor girl seems to be dreadfully confused, and as you can tell she really isn't in the best health at the moment. I need to find her. I'm hoping you... or maybe one of her other friends might know a good place to look. Can you help me? I'm sure you're just as concerned for her as I am. She's really in no condition to be out on her own right now."

Wysteria felt a wave of relief hit her at Caira's words; perhaps Professor Kade had been wrong. The Headmistress seemed perfectly concerned with Drorah and didn't appear to have any malintent. She relaxed somewhat in her chair, feeling less on guard than she was just a moment ago. After all, if they couldn't trust the Headmistress of the school, who could they trust?
"I have no idea Headmis-...I mean Caira, I'm sorry. I have problems calling Professors by their first names; it's never really come easy for me," she said laughing a bit. She tried to think of where Wyst might hide if she was scared and confused...maybe her parent's house or a relative?
"She might have gone back to her parent's old house, that's where I would go if I..." she trailed off. Something wasn't right. Confused? What would Drorah be confused about? She blinked a few times and masked it as trying to come up with more locations.
"Maybe on of her other relatives. I feel so bad for Drorah, what was she confused about Caira? That could help us determine where she might feel safe," Wyst said, keeping her tone calm but inquisitive.

"That's just it. She doesn't have any living relatives," replied Caira thoughtfully. "And, she seemed a bit confused when I left her in the infirmary the other morning. Considering what she must've gone through to sustain such extensive injuries... well, I can only imagine what she's thinking right now. I think the pain might have rattled her quite a bit..."
Caira trailed off and sat back in her seat. "Thanks dear. I have a lot of people to think of. But you're right, maybe I'll start with her home. It says here she was originally from New York... so I guess we'll start there. I hope she's alright. Let me know if you come up with anything else. I wouldn't want you to be late for classes."
She smiled reassuringly and waited for Wysteria to leave. She looked at the next name on her list, Dien Serlean. She frowned slightly. He didn't seem to trust her at all... well, she'd have to see what she could do about that.

Wysteria listened carefully to Caira's words. Drorah must have gone through on aweful lot in the Shadow realm, if her appearance after coming through the rift wasn't telling enough. A funny queasy feeling formed in her stomach as she thought of what sort of pain she must have gone through to make he so confused. Wysteria considered the injury of a friend to be a hundred times more offensive than someone inflicting one on her. Whoever had helped torture Drorah would pay dearly...
Wysteria was glad Caira was starting with her suggestion about searching her parent's old home in New York. If Dee was there she would be found soon. Wysteria smiled politely to Caira as she prepared to leave.
"Surely Headmi-....I mean Caira. I'll let you know," she said, leaving the Headmistress's office and trotting down the stairs to finish her breakfast.

Dien Serlaen had been just about to exit the Hall, bagel in mouth and coffee in hand, when a large, brown owl flew over to him. It landed on his shoulder and pressed a note to his face, rudely. He nearly spilled the coffee, and dropped the bagel (too bad- it was blueberry!). He opened the note, and read. On the front was is name, in what looked like a very artful, almost painfully curly script. He blinked, and read the other side. Caira LaPointe, Headmistress, needed him in her office. D'rorah had gone missing. He sighed, and floated through all the floors directly into her office. "Saved me alot of time," he said, almost grinning. "You needed me about Miss Philosophy? We were great... friends, I suppose you could say."

"Wonderful Dien," replied Caira with a smile. "I'm hoping you might know where I should begin looking for her. Wysteria Edwin was here just a moment ago and suggested her home, so we'll start looking in New York." She gestured to a comfortable chair, being polite even though she knew it probably wouldn't matter much to him whether he sat or stood. "I'm terribly worried about her Dien. No one knows where she's gotten off to. I don't know why she would have left... she seemed confused last time I talked to her. I guess pain will do terrible things to the mind." She shook her head, her face filled with concern. "I need to find her quickly. She's simply not well enough to be on her own."

Dien frowned, biting his lower lip... She seemed sincerely concerened... He said, in a polite tone, "I am quite sure that D'rorah can take care of herself- wherever she is. You might, however, if you don't find her in her home, contact her landlords or ladies. And," he said, with a small smile, "I know what she was experiencing. It would be a hard thing for anyone to get over, even those skilled in the art of mental protection..." he sighed. "Her physical wounds, however, are too terrible. Extremely deep slices, and burned skin..." he shuddered. "I am sorry I could provide very sure information.. If I had the time to focus and find her mind, I might glean where she is. But, I have the feeling that she mightn't trust me with that information..." he sighed.

"I thought you said you were friends?" asked Caira, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Surely she would trust a friend?" She sighed. "It doesn't say anything here about properties other than the address in New York... I just don't what we'll do if we can't find her. I can't imagine having a student lost... or another student dying." She drew a shaky breath and rested her head in her hands. "Please, if you can think of anything, anything at all... I can't imagine how she would have gotten away. She's so weak... and if whoever tortured her finds her before we do... she may not stand a chance against them." She looked up and smiled wearily. "If you think of anything, please let me know. For now, I guess I won't keep you from your classes though."

Dien smiled. Maybe... maybe she wasn't bad. "Oh, I was just referring to that she was babbling about Mister Darko and Professor Kade torturing her... Who knows what she could have thought about her other friends?" he smiled again. "Well, I guess I'll get to it then," he said as he disappeared underneath the floor. The space he had been left no ethereal mist.

"Thank you," replied Caira to the empty room. She looked down at her desk. So many people to ask... she looked at the list of names before her. Anyone who had been in the Room of Requirement that night. Kono Slaker, Phoenix Albion, Alessandro Darko, Mordred Kade, Yumi Gandal, Mira Quanz... It seemed as though she might never get through it. With a sigh of resignation, she returned to her task, intent on finding the girl before she was lost completely.

Mordred walked up to the stone gargoyle guarding the entrance to the Headmistresses office. He looked down at his feet when the spiral staircase rose from the ground. When it was finished moving Mordred slowly walked up the steps. Caira had summoned him for sure to ask where she could find Dee. Honestly, he didn't know; his mental connection couldn't reach her, she was out of reach. He was just about to open the door when a voice rang out and echoed through the hallway.
"Come In"
The door swung open before he could push it. He stepped inside and found Caira alone at her desk. "You called for me?"

Caira looked up at Mordred and smiled. "You know by now that D'rorah has gone missing," she stated plainly. "Mordred, we absolutely must find her. You've seen her. You know as well as I do that she isn't well enough to be out on her own... the poor girl was confused out of her mind when I talked to her before. There's no telling where she'll go or what she might do... or what might be done to her," she added gravely. "She's weak, injured... someone suggested earlier that she might go somewhere familiar, like home. The only address I have is one in New York... I'm sending someone to check there, but... well, I just know the more places we look, the more likely we are to find her."
She looked up at Mordred. "You seemed to know her well. Where would she feel safe? Where would she go? I'm still not sure what happened last night... I just can't understand why she would run away..." she trailed off, sounding defeated. "Please, anything you know might help."

"I.." Mordred hesitated, he had almost blurted out something very personal. Of course he knew of many places she could be hiding, but her personal life didn't need to include the ministry and the whole school. Mordred looked down and back up, buying time for him to think of something. "I know just as much about her personal life as everyone else. The only place I can think of her to go would be her place in New York... If you don't mind, I would like to go there myself, she might be hiding from anyone she doesn't know."
