Alex pushed the door wide, allowing himself entrance to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Having been asked to fill in until a substitute was found for Professor Kade, he had of course happily taken on the job. His Astronomy class of approximately seven students wasn't taking up too much of his time, afterall. Wearing a pair of nicely-fitting blue jeans along with a casual, dark green, button-up shirt underneath his overrobes, his hair was styled as per usual, resulting in a small spike in the middle of his head. Defence had always been a particular favourite of his, and while he certainly enjoyed Astronomy more, there was no doubt as to the class' more useful topics and curriculum.
Seeing that all of the desks and seats were in order, he placed his usual black bag onto his part-time desk and pulled up the sleeves of his black robes, taking a seat. Waiting for the students to arrive, he checked the time on his watch and saw that there was still just over five minutes to go.

Susan eagerly entered her Defence Against the Dark Arts class. She had wondered upon arrival who would be teaching the class. It was evident that Professor Kade was no longer the professor. As her Head of House, Susan was one of the first to know that Professor Kade was on leave. Susan looked around her classroom to see that Professor Archer would indeed be teacher their class.
"Professor Archer, it's good to see you again," Susan told him as she once again found her self the first to arrive. She took a seat near the front of the class. It was important, she realized, more now than ever to learn and pay attention in her class on defense. She shuffled through her things to find a piece of parchment for notes and a quill to take them with. She found her text book, and waited for the rest of the class to arrive.

(( Assuming this takes place after the first Astronomy class?))
Keaira was glad that she had been able to see Alessandro again recently, even though it seemed that she only saw him in classes. As she made her way to Defense against Dark arts she thought back to the last time she had seen him in this class. A smile crept over her features, she really did enjoy his company, even when they were attempting to curse, and counter curse each other.
Hoping that she would see him again she made sure she was in fact early for the next class, so as to choose the perfect spot. She as always carried her single strapped book bag, loosely packed with things that might just come in handy. Her potions kit securely placed in side it, her book for DADA class, some parchment, several different colored inks, a quill, and three odd looking, metallic green and silver sticks that seemed to protrude from the top of her bag. She had plans for after class, plans that involved a quiet stroll in the park.
When she entered the class she beamed brightly at the professor, although it was not professor Kade, it was some one she knew. Professor Archer. She had always enjoyed Astronomy, and his classes were no different, well except she wasn’t lounging on a couple of blankets with her sister, father, and James.
Keaira wondered slightly what they would be studying today, as she took a seat. She sat off to the left side of the classroom, in the third row. It made her feel a little bit better knowing that she wasn’t as late to this class as she had been to the one previous. As she sat her book bag down she smiled at the professor. “Good day Professor Archer, how do you like having a class during the day?”

D'rorah entered quietly, still a bit thrown off at not seeing Professor Kade at the head of the classroom. His absence affected her quite a bit, as he was her Elemental Master. The whole classroom felt off without him there. She gave the barest of polite nods to Professor Archer before taking her seat at a desk in the front. Not bothering to greet anyone else, she retrieved her books, notes, and quill from her satchel. Quietly, she turned to a page close to the end of her textbook and to a clean sheet of notebook and continued where her notes left off. She was very close to finishing her initial review of the text, so she felt well prepared for whatever they might cover that day. The look on her face was one of vague displeasure at the fact of Kade's absence... she hadn't been able to contact him mentally and had not had an opportunity to speak with him at all before his sudded dismissal.

Alessandro strode into Defense Against the Dark Arts with three minutes to spare. He noticed it was just Susan, Keaira, and Dee. Giving them all a general nod of "Hello" he placed his bag down in a seat in the middle of the front row. "Hello Professor Archer!" He said cheerily. "You'll be taking over this class for a while?" He asked conversationally.
He glanced over at Keaira, who was in the third row, and gave her a wide grin that told tales of mischief. He was hoping they would either be finishing up the Stupefy/Ennervate lesson, or perhaps moving onto something new. He remembered that Kade had cut the lesson short before he was able to perform the spells on Keaira. All-the-more, he was eager and excited to see what Professor Archer had up his sleeve for his rendition of a DADA class.

Aimee joyfully stepped into the Defence Against the Dark Arts class. This subject, like many of the other students, fasinated her...of course, in a good way. She was always eager to learn different defencive spells even though there wasn't a real chance of her ever getting to uset hem in combat, that would be left up to those involved with the new Magical War.
"Good morning, Professor." She said when she saw him at the front ofthe room. She didn't know this teacher but she knew he taught Astronomy since she had heard her peers talking about the class. Wondering if she was going to like this professor or not she walked towards the back of the room and took a seat in the middle, that way she would get a lot of attention, nor would she get distracted.

Wysteria glided into the room quietly. This was the class she felt least at ease in, although ironically it was one of her better subjects. Noting Professor Kade's absense only made her world feel more off-kilter than before. It was not as if anyone could simply disappear, no trace and no one who knows anything. She knew that everyone, everything left a trail. But the ability to combine the right clues, and to find them at that, was something the Ministry did not always manage well.
Sighing softly, she picked the same spot she had occupied in her last class, pulling out her notes and readying herself for the Professor's lecture. At least during class she could take notes and somewhat escape the reality of what had been happening to her in the past few months.

Alex saw the first student enter and smiled, recognising the young Gryffindor from his earlier Astronomy class. "Likewise, Miss Matthews," he said happily, watching her take a seat. The words had barely come out of his mouth when a Slytherin girl entered and his mood brightened. "Good afternoon, Miss O'Connell, and it's quite a change, to say the least," he said with a small grin. Returning the Ravenclaw Prefects small nod, he then saw two more students enter behind her. "Taking over the class? Yes, yes, just until a full-time substitute can be found for Professor Kade. Good afternoon then, Mr Darko and... ah, Miss Miller," he said, as yet another Gryffindor entered. Watching yet another girl walk in, his eyes twinkled as she walked past him without a word, recognising the figure of the Hufflepuff Prefect.
He smiled broadly and looked at them all taking their seats and beginning to converse. Counting only six students so far, he expected far more and so settled back into his chair to wait.

Wandering along the fourth floor corridor at a moderately fast pace, he checked his watch to see that he was just about on time. Entering the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, he smiled at the professor, whom he'd seen for the second time in as many days. "Afternoon, Professor," he said in a cheery tone, looking around at the students already present. He saw Dee and Susan seated in the front and his day noticeably brightened as he sat in a seat inbetween the two.
Unloading his Defence textbook, parchment, previously made notes and ready-ink quill onto his desk, he waited for class to start. Assuming that, surely, more than seven students were supposed to be attending the class, he deciphered that they might start a little late considering class was due to start right now. Wondering briefly what Professor Archer would be covering for the day, he sat back in his chair and relaxed a little before the lesson started.

D'rorah looked up offered a tired smile as she saw Dylan come in and take the desk next to her. Given her demeanor over the past few days, she was rather certain everyone would be giving her a wide berth. In fact, she was fairly certain she had finally been successful in glaring her dormmates into an uneasy silence the last time they had been too loud while she worked on her translations. And, now that Dylan and Susan had both learned they were a complimentary Elemental couple, her research took on a tad more urgency as she tried to figure how they were suppose to bond. All of the accounts she had read so far were of bonding where the Elemental Master relived a traumatic event which had brought for a Shadow Warrior's latent abilities. But Susan had not experienced such an event... and D'rorah did not intend for to have to.
She had re-doubled her already intense research efforts... in between classes and attempts to contact Professor Kade. As her hope of finding Mordred had dwindled, her research had taken on the added aspect of trying to find an alternative way of anchoring her own emotions. Without that, she would not be able to fight.
Luckily, she had been able to explain her misgivings to Dylan and he, at least, seemed to understand her withdrawn, quiet irritability. She would be back to the library after this, continuing her search. She turned to Dylan, deciding it would be alright to speak, as class hadn't yet begun. "So then, have I missed anything interesting in the Great Hall or the Common Room?" she asked quietly.

He smiled brightly at D'rorah. "Interesting? No no, it's Hogwarts, you know how boring it is around here," he said with a small smirk, his voice joking. "Someone conjured a bunch of snakes in the common room yesterday evening, it was a nightmare. People screaming and running everywhere," he said, his eyes playful. "But you know, just the usual."
Turning in his seat to face her, he saw how exhausted she looked and his expression fell slightly. "Dee, have you been sleeping?" he asked, concerned that she was avoiding her bed, as well as eating, to continue her research. His voice was quiet as he spoke to her, almost a whisper so as not to be overheard.

"Oh, I am quite put-out that I missed the commotion," she replied with a slight smile as he told her of the snakes. "Actually, I believe I recall hearing the commotion. I wondered what might be happening, but could not pull myself from my books to see what it was at the time. I am glad to hear it was attended to."
She had glanced over at him with a soft smile when he suddenly voiced a concern about her sleep. "I am fine," she replied, sidestepping his question. "I have managed to make a good deal of headway on my research in the past days." She left it at that, not really wanting to get into the research here among their classmates. She looked back to the front of the classroom, wondering when the lecture might start, thinking it would be a good diversion from Dylan's caring concern.

Alessandro sat in his desk and pulled out several pieces of parchment and a quill and began to start on his Transfiguration homework while the class was still waiting to begin. He dipped his quill in the ink and then began. "The importance of concentration while attempting transifguring any item is paramount to the desired outcome. One musn't break concentration for any reason at all for fear of having a botched transfiguration. If one was changing an animal into an inanimate object, or vice versa, one could imagine that it would be quite painful to have half of one's self turn into a chair, while the other half is still a fully functioning biological organism. While performing transfiguration, one should keep in mind a strong and vivid picture of the desired effect. For example, if someone wished to change a shoe into a pumpkin, the caster must invoke a strong and detailed image of a pumpkin into their minds eye. Of course, the wand movements play a role in success, but that is secondary to focus....." Alessandro's hand began to cramp and he looked up and around the class to see if any more people had arrived. Dylan was sitting between D'rorah and Susan, chatting with Dee about some incident in the common room. Keaira seemed enthralled in her own business as well as Aimee. There seemed to be a large quantity of girls at Hogwarts and fewer boys than he remembered.

As usual, when he came into class, he greeted the Professor.
"Goodday Professor."
Then, like every other time, he sat at the back left corner of the class. He let out a yawn as he sat down. That day he was being followed everywhere by a sense of boredom. He pulled out his quill and parchment from his rucksack and got ready to write out the title of the days lesson. He wondered what they would teach him this time, about defeating he dark arts. 'Will they be superior to my training in thee dark arts?' He thought to himself. He eyed the other students in the room.

As Aimee sat down at her desk, she took out her notebook, text book and a quill. She couldn't wait for the class to start as the room began to fill up around her. Though there were many people she knew in the room, half of her hoped that they wouldn't sit beside her. She wanted to soak everything in. Then again, she wanted some one to talk to.
